1. All this stuff can be done on a standard laptop with some software, including regular broadcasting over the internet. It's just not so nicely built up into the package, but why spend the extra cash when most of us already have a regular laptop?
2. The production software wouldn't really appeal to high end producers, mostly hobbyists or people just looking to mess around. But again, is that really worth 500 bucks?
yeah i think this is far from aimed at producers looking to release high quality stuff. 500 dollars is far from what you'd be spending for a mac and logic or mbox and so forth for a very basic set-up.
Love it!

More competition for Serato, Traktor, Virtual DJ, etc. Surprising to see it's from Gem Sound. I used to mix them up with Gemini.

Did you know that Gem Sound & Gemini are not the same company or affiliated at all? A lot of people think they are.

It's a cool device, but two things:

I think you are being a bit crittical here. The trend seems to be hobbyists in thier bedrooms who want to be creative.
You are right, this isn't for high end production. The price tag should make that obvious.
I think it's pretty cool for someone to have a small dedicated machine designed for such tasks with a bundle of usable software pre-installed.

American Audio & Gem Sound are both very reasonablly priced gear. Just wait until you see the price tags for Rane or Pioneer.

Wow. i liked the computer there. What OS did it have? Do your know?

Appears to be Linux
BTW
the DJ software he was using (with the black background) is called Mixxx and is a free download for Linux, Mac or windows.
I also saw Audacity and Pidgin on there.
It appears to be mostly stuff you can download yourself but they put it together with a nice User Interface.
