well considering that the two fastest production cars in the world to lap the nurinbergring are american cars, the corvette zr-1 and the viper arc I would say that americans also understand the whole handling thing and do it better than europe or asia...hey just pointing out the facts and to give you insightn i drive a 350Z so dont both calling me a american car fanboy

Yet that 10% makes it a significantly more desireable car. As performance rises, as with the GTR and ZR-1, the gap between cost and performance gain widens exponentially.
You also have to consider that the ZR-1 handles better and has heads up display, nicer interior, etc. And it is made in the USA.
And the Zr1 handles mildy better, as i said its only about 2% quicker despite having alot more hp, it could be argued it doesnt even handle better and its the extra hp giving it the netter times.
The GTR interior is much nicer, especially in 2-3 years hwn the vette interior falls apart as they do.
And being made in the US is a bad thing not a good thing,

I would point out to you that the Corvette's excellent interior is ergononic and more comfortable than the Nissan's but that is MY opinion. Vettes have an extremely high resale value, better than most imports. The GTR is so new it has no such track record. And being made in the country that 1st harnessed the power of the atom and sent men to the moon is a good thing.

@ciaomiciabella for the most part you have to drive in straight lines to get where you need to go. Plus you can't find out what a vehicles top speed is if you do nothing but take corners. The only difference between NASCAR and regular circuits is the amount of turns. in the end circuit racing is basically going in a circle for several laps.
it's ok... but the fact remains that a car is more that simple an accelerator and a brute engine to push it forward... Let's assume the point of view of a driver: he/she would have much more fun having a complex path to follow...

he had launch control turned off. 11.8 is as good as it gets with it turned off. with it on the car can go 11.2 but NISSAN says hard launchs with launch control on may cause severe damage and will void any warranty. a lot of people have already found out the hard way and destroyed transmissions in the new GTR.

Look at the trap speed: 118. That's piss-poor driving for that kind of power.
A car like the GTR, like the Porsche it was designed to compete against, has a high top speed and tall gearing. Such cars are better suited on the highway and fast tracks (like the Nurburgring) and won't do so as well in short-distance acceleration contests like the 1/4-mile.
Trap speed is a better indicator of power than ET, but 118 mph is too low for 500 hp. Bad driving.
i think that gtr still got the speed limiter activated. it stops the car at 118 mph. the good part is that u can crack it, but u will lose your warranty
US cars don't come with a speed limiter. Japan limits their cars to 180 kph, which is about 112 mph.
A friend of mine had an R33 Skyline with a 180-kph speedo, and had it up to about 180 mph, where the speedo had wrapped all the way around and back up to about 80 kph. It was running of an Apexi PowerFC, so it had no limiter.

118 is a reasonable trap speed for a 500 hp car. This thing weighs 3800 lbs. It is not a light car. I do agree that its more of a high speed car though. And stock speedos in older Skylines suck. 180km/h comes way too quickly.
its not technically an automatic. automatics have torque converters, gtr's have twin clutch transmissions. its just not stick and doesnt have a clutch pedal. i like to call it effortless manual.
473 - 507 hp , automatic and streight aways arnt for it nigga what u need to chek out is the lap time on Top Gear it beats the murcielago and the slr so yeah its not good on streight but when it comes to turns and brakes for 80k its a really master pece.
on a realistic straight line the gtr is more efficient then the zr1 do to hook ups... i don't encourage street race but if a zr1 was to run a gtr on the streets the gtr would have more advantage because the zr1 has to many problems hooking up with pavement. like when they test the two cars. the zr1 lost to the gtr due to traction but when the zr1 hooked it was gone..

Look at the trap speed: 118. That's piss-poor driving for that kind of power.
A car like the GTR, like the Porsche it was designed to compete against, has a high top speed and tall gearing. Such cars are better suited on the highway and fast tracks (like the Nurburgring) and won't do so as well in short-distance acceleration contests like the 1/4-mile.
Trap speed is a better indicator of power than ET, but 118 mph is too low for 500 hp. Bad driving.

US cars don't come with a speed limiter. Japan limits their cars to 180 kph, which is about 112 mph.
A friend of mine had an R33 Skyline with a 180-kph speedo, and had it up to about 180 mph, where the speedo had wrapped all the way around and back up to about 80 kph. It was running of an Apexi PowerFC, so it had no limiter.

118 is a reasonable trap speed for a 500 hp car. This thing weighs 3800 lbs. It is not a light car. I do agree that its more of a high speed car though. And stock speedos in older Skylines suck. 180km/h comes way too quickly.

its not technically an automatic. automatics have torque converters, gtr's have twin clutch transmissions. its just not stick and doesnt have a clutch pedal. i like to call it effortless manual.

on a realistic straight line the gtr is more efficient then the zr1 do to hook ups... i don't encourage street race but if a zr1 was to run a gtr on the streets the gtr would have more advantage because the zr1 has to many problems hooking up with pavement. like when they test the two cars. the zr1 lost to the gtr due to traction but when the zr1 hooked it was gone..

it's nice to see someone on here that is actually knowledgeable. off the line, i agree, the GT-R wins hands down each time. now at speed? say 65-80mph, i "think" that would be a totally different story. i bet the GT-R would hang, but in the end, get spanked by the ZR-1. both are AMAZING cars. but as the saying goes "different horses for different courses" .

Corvettes suck. Interior fit and finish are garbage, exterior fit and finish are garbage, ride is garbage, and they need 7.0L to get 500 (excuse me, 505) naturally aspirated horsepower. The Nissan GT-R handles better than the ZO6, rides better than the ZR1, looks better and is built better both inside and out than either of them. Also, did I mention you could use the GT-R as a daily driver? Try doing grocery runs in a Corvette. Or driving the kids to hockey.

z06 cannot beat the gtr. zr1 can beat it, but not "destroy" it. but neways, the gtr is a four seater with a trunk and a thing called practicality. z06 and zr1, two seaters with no trunk or space to store or carry nething other then urself. and the interior quality cannot measure the gtr's. the corvettes have always been criticized for their sub par interiors.

first off, the gtr has been tested faster then 12.0. secondly, the gtr duznt need 7 liters of engine. thirdly, does ur z06 have a trunk? have 4 seats? have a interior that fits its price? nope. gtr is a daily driver that will kick ass on a track. it wasnt designed for the drag strip either. and in order for u to run 11.3, ud have to nail the launch perfectly and every shift perfectly so i doubt u urself have gotten it that low.

BTW a 12.0 is all a gtr will run if you want a warranty.

the z06 might be able to keep up but not completely own it on the track. The zr-1 on the other hand might totally desimate it. I mean it has 600+ hp and a much racier suspension and body than the Z06. The only advantage the GTR would have is the 4wd and the sequential transmission. The gtr is a great car but id choose the zr-1 over the GTR anyday

alright dumbass, rumor is that the R35 wore Dunlop SP Sport 600's and not bridgestones, one of nissans reps even said they had cut slicks on one of the tested cars...wow slicks to run 7:38...the other rumors of the r35 is that the interior was partially gutted, suspension was further dialed in from the factory settings and the test car was further tuned from the factory settings. also, the r35 had a rolling start compared to the z06's standing start...2 seconds? woop-de-doo dipshit.
