Plenty of Black Cowboys in Texas:Between 5,000and 8,000 black cowboys, mostly ex-slaves, are believed to have ridden the cattle trails between 1866-1896, about a fourth of the total number of cowboys. Received the same salary/etc as the white cowboys. In Houston:American Cowboy Museum was founded to honour the Black/Indian/Mex-American cowboys.
this is amazing..i jus met a black cowboy and native black indian..so much history. this video is so very true. cuz like i said i just met one. this is amazing. thanks for posting. and to think as a kid i play with cowboys and indians action figures and they were all white..but i always knew there were black cowboys and girls too. and they never got any attention or credit.
