I met Tommy in 1990 on the Achille Lauro at Italia 90,I was only 18 at my first world cup and Eamonn Campbell from the Dubliners was also on board, oh what a trip and what sing songs at night with Tommy &co., a sound man!!!!
I love these guys. It's years since I saw them live, but I saw them many times. It's a shame to see that gap where Derek should be. The last time I saw them live, I talked with him and a split in the band seemed imminent.
Love Tommy's voice - he's still wearing that gold necklace, and I'm sure I've seen Noel in that shirt years ago :-0 Keep singing forever, Wolfe Tones!
@TrickRiderBart yeh Ireland and Scotland, i fucking hate some scottish pricks though.. playing COD and my GT is IrelandsFreedom.. some scottish prods(im guessing) we're trying to slag me.. totally made them cry though
Magic! Seen them their 1st time ever in Glasgow. The place was about three quarters full. Had only just recorded 'Joe MacDonnell' at the time and was one of the 1st times to play it. Very emotional! After that, the place was bustin at the seams each time they appeared! Great memories, thanks for sharing.
Great song by the Wolfe Tones. As for the person who thinks the US stinks, stay home in your own country because the USA has a lot to offer for all people. God Bless the USA.
someone hit the pitch switch on this cos it sounds better at a slower pace>>> just my opinion....if i was singing this lovely song id be bout 30 secs behind
a song for any man to know live is hard but also to show you dreams can be made !! GOD BLESS THE TONES for all there great times they have give me thank you all
@benjaminf355 Maybe if you live in Ireland, I would love to hear songs like this in the UK, I can only hear them on CD or if I go to Ireland, which I did last year, and saw theW Tones in Dublin at Rathfarnham !
@revolution55125 Can't remember what your comment was ,but actually the Wolfe tones are amost certainly against the boycott and prejudice that the British showed the Irish, when they occupied their country !
great live version, no comment on the skangers in the celtic shirts, they must have taken time off from hanging on the street corner to go to the gig that night
because up here we are slowy but surely moving towards a united ireland but i can gurantee there will be alot of trouble before tht happens.but if it does i can assure you im reday to left up a wepon.
You've nothing to worry about. When you're Irish in New York, you'll always find work. I was also 22 when I came out. You;ll be home sick for a while but NY is like Hair. It grows on you.
be jaysus love, up ya boya christy one more tune! yup yup get up outta that and get outta that garden! are ya alright sharon? go on ya big bleeding ride ya! il kick seven shades of shite outta boy! oh be the holy! im going in to drain the spuds(toilet) ah were such paffys we are! ah sure ya gotta love it.SCARLET FOR YAS!
For every one brit that was killed, there was at least ten dead irish, you think the IRA are cold hearted killers? are you even aware of the black 'n' tans?!? they are worst fuckers of them all

This songs goes out to all our brothers a sisters who left ireland all them years a go.Read the books watch the movies the irish done well for them selves even against our greast rivals the italians i say that because my aunt from tyrone married a italian.GOD BLESS THE USA A IRELAND.
It reminds me a whole lot too. Most of my Irish family initially lived in the Bronx, worked the docks in Hoboken, in Brooklyn and in Westchester Co. Many came in around 1900 with nothing -- that means nothing at all. But, many of them worked as servants, educated their kids, and made them middle class people (working in NYC at various jobs, finance, teaching, and working on the docks).
This song reminds me of my parents who both came over to the US from clare and dublin respectively. The came to New York with no money, lived in the Bronx, and worked downtown. They eventually started their own business and sent me and my sister to college. I love America and Ireland. We are so countries that are so interconnected and I love it.
