  • The best song ever of this band.

  • Terrific and immortal. SO GLAD I still have my original 4CD boxed set!!

  • Makes me think that I can take on the world, how wonderful

  • I would die with this song

  • ever since 1986 i listen to this version of gene clarks song strength of strings, i still like it after 25 years

  • what a great album

  • Slaughterhouse 5 - and all you can think about is "how you had sex to this album" - lol - seriously.

  • A spectacular cover of Gene Clark's classic

  • this is one of the very few instances wher I've liked a cover much more than the original.

  • What's the lady saying at the beginning? Sounds like "Dylan, Dylan?... We're going to have a baby!"

  • @LMMEjsmith "Billy, Billy, we just had a baby" ...maybe...

  • pra mim, é a musica mais linda do This Mortal Coil... e uma das mais lindas que já ouvi na vida...

  • I wish i was born in that era to hear such beautiful songs GR8.....

somehow i got chance to watch Lovely bones(Song to the siren) and then my search has started for soulful and beautiful songs like that....

  • i"ve got no words to describe this amazing art song

  • This is the TMC track I always play REAL LOOOOOUUUUUDDDD

  • An amazing version of an amazing song!!

  • An amazing version of an amazing song!!

  • One of my favourite bands from my youth, miss this as much as my youth! :-(

  • @nikbear Yeah, the same with me. I think listening to this is giving me an existential crisis.

  • The lead vocal sounds just like the Gene Clark original, very nice.

  • if you haven't had sex to this album and the rest of their albums...you're missing out.

  • @jovanna242 I'm down where you at? HAHA! This is my favorite Coil song.

  • this song is pure beauty, amazing!!!!!

  • Przepiękne. Można słuchać tego godzinami i nie ma się dość.

  • fliessend

  • i see the reflection of my soul in this song. it touches my heart completely and absolutely. thanks very much for posting

  • what is going on here .....???it saya THIS MORTAL COIL ....but we hear Gene Clark ......???? Or am i just fantasizing ..!!!!! but there is not a hint of T.M.C in the whole musical segment ........

  • @lopescone Listen to the original Gene Clark recording, then you will hear TMC all over this recording, though this one doesn't sound the same as the version on my record, and not as good.

  • Im back in CalifornIA cruising already..... heart stopping moment hearing this track for the first time out the blue <3 lyj

  • This would be the worlds best song but in my opinion the lisp of the singer ruins it. "Sstrengthhh of sstringthhh". Usualy I dont mention disabilities but in this case it ruins the songs. Great guitar, great Piano, great synths - but this lisp arghh.

  • @Monitorreiniger - That would be badly mixed & EQ'ed reverb on the lead vocal, not a lisp.

I once said of Ivo Watts-Russell "No more reverb mister it is like tomato soup in my ears."

  • Heard both...This Mortal Coil's version blows it off the planet-this is strong, powerful stuff. Didn't care for Gene's version at all. Sorry-just my opinion

  • @Coasterdude02149

This does have the power. . . too right!

  • This Mortal Coil ist eine wunderbare Band, und diese Version ist absolut genial

  • @TheEnduroColt Ja Ja, sehr gute Band!

  • I prefer the original Gene Clark version still. Which can't be found on Youtube, what a shame. SHAME, I tell you. SHAME. ARRRGGHH.

  • One of my best album forever and ever.

  • Get no other on Amazon. reasonable price. Download it as a mp3. Ay- mayzing.

  • I love both versions! Each has its own uniqueness. TMC version is definitely the more accessible for depression music novice :-)

  • "Billy, Billy we just had a baby" bit is from the film of Slaughterhouse V.

  • I thought I was going to be all clever and mention that, but you beat me to it ;)

  • Great, but pale in comparission to Gene Clark's masterpiece. Look for recent Soulsavers cover (sung by Mark Lanegan) of Some Misunderstanding, also from Gene's No Other album.

No Other is, well, like no other. My favourite album, period.

  • Never heard the original, never want to. This IS the original, to me. Ah, memories...thanks for posting. Beautiful song.

  • jimwit, you haven't any idea what you are missing, so.

  • the original pleaseeeeee

  • its quite good, not a patch on the original though! thanks for posting!

  • An excelent example of Gene Clark's (yes, Gene Clark from the Byrds!) writing expertise! Nice treatment by TMC, but listen to Clarks' version of his own song...I think you will be moved. Thanks for the post. CP

  • I would love to listen to the original, where can I find it?

  • On his album ""No Other ""1974 or around that time !

  • Thanks!

  • @lopescone Gene's version is just as powerful. This Mortal Coil are amazing and it hurts me that I can't convince others of this.
