You are TRULY awesome! I have surfed around looking for a good teacher and your method not only taught me how to actually play the song but I never knew what an EM or BM chord was, and I feel like I've really learned something, which is exciting.
Thanks, man- I'm buying your discs- and NO this is NOT some paid shill endorser, I'm a real guy, it's damn near 2 am and I just learned new stuff that I can use forever. Right on.
I've been doing this song as a green guitar player...... using bass note strum. I was taught to go to an A7 in place of the second Em in the chorus (where Em runs 2 bars in a row) Tell me, what do you think of doing that way? By the way, I really enjoy all your post.
Good lesson all round. Just noticed a minor thing - your finger position for Em and A seems to be one finger off i.e. Em is with your middle and second last finger, rather than using your index finger. Same goes with A - its traditionally played using your middle, second last and pinky finger.
This is just the traditional way, not necessarily the most comfortable for you!
It doesnt really matter until you pick the strings, where u might have to apply more pressure than needed! Just a thought!
hey marty...ive watched a lot of ur videos and they're pretty good....i like em a lot...
ive been trying to figure out arlo guthrie's the motorcycle song for a while now...im just horrible with country stuff....u think u cud do a video on that?? id be super grateful!! :)
it makes me happy when i'm trying to learn a new song to find that marty has a tutorial for it. Marty f'n rocks. I saw you on tv Marty, you're the best there ever was
bonjour very good job for beginner;now if is it possible to teache for intermediere players city of new orleans by fred killer on you tube it s ok merci encore
Great lesson as usual Marty! Actually it's a Steve Goodman song that Arlo gave bigger legs to. He died young and I wonder what other great stuff he would of written. Pals with John Prine, I saw them together in the early 70s....Hey! how 'bout some Prine stuff? Hello in There?
marty do u know how to play road trippin by the red hot ...if u do please uploaded....thanks for the vids atleast i can play guitar way better than i used to
MARTY! I would love it if you would do some more intermediate electric guitar songs. It's been a while. For example, All Right Now by Free. I've seen a million different ways to play this. PLEASE? : )
I found chords that were way easier to play than the ones you have here. No Bm either. I hardly recognize the song.
