I've seen alot of episodes here on Youtube, but not all 8 yet. I better get watching, lol. There are old bottle dumps here on our island and I have looked through many of them over the years. I have pulled out some very cool old bottles, mostly medicine bottles from the early 1900's. I still come across alot of old soda bottles as well when I'm waking through the forest. I would love to dig in Hawaii, looks like so much fun.
How do know exactly where to dig? Was there an old homstead in that area or an outhouse? I know back in the old days people use to chuck bottles down the outhouse holes. I just had to watch this vid. again because those are some awesome vintage bottles. Looks like alot of fun.
It is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work too. In the first episode that your watching we dug 6 ft. down and that's when the hutchinson soda bottles popped out. We google earth and look for old dump sites or we get tips from old timers and sometimes we just get lucky and pick the right gulch and hit virgin territory which is hard to find these days. Have you seen all 8 episodes of our various digs around the island? Aloha!
I'm interested in buying some of your Hamakua soda works bottles, they are very hard to find. I have never seen a hutchinson top Hamakua bottle for sale anywhere. Nice video! Let me know. Thanks diggers.
True that, lived on the Big Island before, Kona side back in the early 80's hardly get surf, the only big surf had when I was living there, was the morning of Hurricane Iwa, surfed early morning Lyman's, mean lefts, way outside the point, good size over head, guys was snapping boards, shoots then aloha.
Nice digs, must have been "mean" the rush when you scored the hutches, lucky you live big island, sucks here on oahu, no mo good place to dig anymore, unless you know somebody or play ninja aloha fellow digger.
The Inkwell or soy sauce container is from Japan found in a deep valley. Perfect condition including the original glass top. Made some time in the early 1800s.
