Took about 6-7 hours on a 120gig harddrive. Took about 4-5 on 30 gig. It could take a few days on the newer terabyte drives.

i can make a better tutorial than this and its funny how you call people on youtube a noob kid, get a fuckin life cuz it only took me 3 hrs to wipe 230gig hardrive using killdisc rather than dban. dont use dban cuz it takes longer to wipe. so fuck you and your long ass wiping time ass hole!

I tired to boot and nuke my dual core lappy and never got it to work. I tried Dban again for another single core the download seemed to quick? Like nothing on discs lol. I will try and drop the cd in but im afraid of messing something up. I have no original CDs cause i didnt have any at the time i first used the lappy.

as good as new? i ran this program and it worked fine until the end it deleted eveyting and it was fine but then i tryed to restart the computer and it go past the acer screen

It took me 4h to do the DoD Short (3 rounds of wiping) on a 100Gb hdd...

If you do DoD Standard (7 rounds) or DoD Long (many more rounds XD) it will take some time... so be prepared...

lets put it this way, everyone knows that if the FBI or cops , whatever wanted to find incriminating evidence of illegal things you've done, they could do it even if you deleted the files, with this method I'll be surprised if the CIA (ect..) can find a spec of dust in your hard drive. It will wipe EVERYTHING.

It will delete EVERYTHING, which means if you've formated your computer more than 100 times its a VERY good thing, because those files never 'REALLY' get deleted they're always there and trust me thats VERY BAD you will experience system bugs from old files, its good to just nuke them all to hell.

Search two things on youtube : How to burn an ISO file and How to run a cd before windows starts. or something similar, Youtube is google (but with videos, and it IS owned by them so yeah lol)

burn it to a CD or an IPOD or PSP ect... USB Drive (BEST especially an empty one!)

actually it was my burning program. it didn't burn good bootable CDs. so i downloaded CDBurnerXP and everything was solved. thanks for the advice anyways.

If your HDD is 2007 or later than PRNG stream is the most effective, more secure than gutman which is generally for older computers

dban wipes the drive clean. do not do it unless you wish to remove all data. and i mean all data. if you are selling your pc etc its great. if you have been looking ad some freaky sht this is what you need. you need a iso burner to boot from cdr if you dont have a floppy drive. but it takes a long time. loooooooooooong time
