  • VERY NICE!! Is this a G-Harp?

  • @MrDryje Yes. (Hering 1923 vintage harp)

  • I didn't know there were two recordings of this song. I've learned one that he did on a higher harp than you have endeavored here. Good work.

  • Nice Playing! I like the clear response of the individual reeds!

  • I really enjoyed this.

I was also excited to see the reference to Henry Whitter, my grandmother's brother.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Wow, the Internet really is a huge place! I was never expecting to receive a comment from Mr. Whitter's family!

Thanks for writing to me. I hope you and your family are doing well.

  • hey buddy,

do you use a D or a Db harp here?

I believe Mr Whitter had a Db one at least that's what I'd been told...

    great performance anyway!

    cheers

  • Hey Matthias,

I'm playing a Hering 1923 Vintage harp in the key of D on a G harp.

Mr. Whitter recorded this tune twice. In the first version (which was recorded in 1923), he seems to be playing on a Db harp as far as I know. In the second version (recorded in 1926), he is playing a D harp. However, since Db harps were not generally available back then, it could be possible that the 1923 version had been slowed down somewhere in the recording process.

  • Very Nice Ashish! I liked it a lot.

  • Thanks for keeping Ol Henry Whittier with us, man.

  • Hey Dave! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be been playing this harmonica in this video. It had a very leaky 3 draw, and you helped me fix it a few months ago.

    Thanks a lot! :)

  • Wow. That's a good start to my day.

  • I love Pre-war Blues and your way of playin this tune, so 5*

    Thank You

    Urban

  • Glad you liked it, Tom! It really feels great to get a compliment from a harmonica player like you. You're just wonderful. :)

  • Hey thanks for the comment. you are great yourself. Really got the Henry Whitter sound down. Great to hear some great pre war harp. Keep the flag flying.

    Cheers Harpmanz
