"Judge not lest ye be judged" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" are quite different commands and ideals withing the Church. You absolutely can judge someone's character in dealing with their actions, as in you don't have to trust a repeat criminal due to their actions. "Judge not..." is more about appearances and the person's character before knowing them rather than the history of decisions one has made.

The priest asked them several questions in order to make sure that they should be married in accordance with Catholic rite, one of them being " will you accept children lovingly from God ?".

He hasn't been totally candid so far, so I'm not sure whom to believe. It would be quite ironic for a priest who has argued against any form of artificial birth control (including Onanism and incomplete intercourse) to try to lessen his culpability by claiming to have had sex, but not intercourse. This is looking like the plot for a '70s porn flick.

This is just disgusting. I know not everyone is perfect, and I'm not passing judgement on his character, but Sean's stance is completely out of line with Church doctrine. You cannot proclaim an opposing viewpoint of your church's core beliefs and still call yourself a member of it.
Concerning excommunication - this is an act of mercy to show someone they are in the wrong, not the strong-handing tactic that everyone makes it out to be. It is ourselves who are doing the excommunication after all.

I don't understand under what context Fr. E. thought it was appropriate to attack Hannity but I'm definitely turned off by Hannity's shallow intellectual formation. He doesn't understand "Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged" at all, nor the nature or Natural Family Planning. But Fr. E. really should have been more concerned about teaching that NFP has at its core an OPENNESS to conception rather than trying to catch Hannity in a net. Fr. Wow, I had a bit of respect for Hannity before I seen this video. "Judge not lest ye be judged" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" are quite different commands and ideals withing the Church. You absolutely can judge someone's character in dealing with their actions, as in you don't have to trust a repeat criminal due to their actions. "Judge not..." is more about appearances and the person's character before knowing them rather than the history of decisions one has made.

That's something you are responsible for (meaning that the priest, as you pointed out, has no way of knowing you're a non-catholic)--it's an entirely different case when someone is causing confusion and scandal with their well-known public positions and/or actions, and simultaneously posing as a Catholic in good standing.

I will never watch Sean Hannity again, but I will be praying for him. He needs to do some serious research and educate himself on WHY the Catholic church is against artificial birth control and the difference between artificial birth control and natural family planning.

The Catholic Church is full of hypocrisy but this is one thing I agree with. I believe as they do that life begins at conception. Abotion used as a form of birth control should be a crime. If any rational person would stop to think then it would be realized that life has to begin at conception, when else would it? I dont believe in organized religion, it's the main reason this world is so messed up. Look at the way these two guys are going at it, I can sense hatred here, no mutual respect . Sad.

To punctuate my message - If he was loyal to his church, he wouldn't criticize it with such vitriol, and then in this vid, he's attacking a great man, someone who actually sacrifices daily comforts to better others lives, unlike this sleazy Hannity. I thought when reading these comments, that I would find praise for Sean for sticking up for himself, I thought he destroyed the Rev.. I still cannot believe the mindset of some Catholics. They're so against abortion, which is fine with me, it is a terrible thing, but yet, they're against condoms and other forms of birth control. WTF??? @Dendroaspis1 As Catholics we are not supposed to have sexual relations out of marriage, and if in fact you're referring to a married Catholic couple, bear in mind that when they exchanged vows on an altar in a Catholic church they made a vow to God and church as well. The priest asked them several questions in order to make sure that they should be married in accordance with Catholic rite, one of them being " will you accept children lovingly from God ?".
