Even Kilngons are light or Dark skinned and have a Empire. It means they respect diffrences or race would not even exsist in their Empire. They would be black brown or between. Therefore I asume some evolved lighter skinned on other worlds and are allowed to run things so long as they pay tribute to their Empire.
Theres just something about multi-racial sociaties that feels enforced. Someone even stated Sulu is a earthling and not Japanesse. That would mean the bad guys truley won and have outlawed race and cultural presevation. A very dark imperial earth indeed.
I wish CBS would just go ahead, and pick this up, and add it to the Fall line-up. It has more going for it than several shows that are on now. I bet it would have a multi-season run.
I just want it to be known that I am NOT by any means blaming the fans who made this episode for this. But...
Mr. Roddenberry should have done his research before he named a male, Japanese character "Hikaru Sulu". The Japanese language does not use the letter "L" sound, and, "hikaru" can be used to mean shiny, sparkle, or brightness. It's just not gender appropriate. Why didn't Takei say anything about it?
@theartbook35 It wasn't Gene Roddenberry. All thru the series, the character had no first name. He was just 'Mr. Sulu.' The name Hikaru came when Vonda McIntire wrote the novelization of _Star Trek III: The Search For Spock_. For some reason it resonated with fans, and entered into canon
This show is effing amazing. I am really suprised by the quality of the effects, the uniforms and props, etc. The acting is spirited and I enjoy the depictions by in large. I also was really excited by the addition of some gay characters in Blood and Fire. I am way more into than a lot of recent Trek (new movie excluded.)
@AngelicRemorse Keep your slut mouth shut not all of us are dogs yah im a Christan! i read the end of the Bible u trash of the world will go to Hell for what u said about my GOD!!
@MegaBOBCAT11 What are you talking about? I was commenting on that they somehow actually brought in George Takei. And I am christian, for the record, and its people like you who give us the stereotype that everyone sees us with.
I've shown this to a friend who considers himselve a somewhat hardcore TREK critc and only the original cast could do TREK and no fan made version could top the original production. While he had issues with the actors interpretation of the famous characters, he was extremely impressed with the story and visual effects.
However, the actor he had issues with had managed to draw tears from the tough guy my friend likes to present himself as being.
Considering this was a fan made production this is actually quite good, ive seen many other fan versions people did which just totally lost my interest 5mins in but the directing in this + the story keeps you wanting to see more
why dont they emergency beam them out?

I wish Star Trek New Voyages has subtitles for deaf people. I love Star trek and cant understand what they speak.

@deafcool99
I am very sorry also.
It’s a limited budget so I would imagine that’s the only reason.
However I have placed a request, so perhaps it could happen.
I hope so.
Thinks for bringing it to all our attention, we all tend to forget sometimes about the special needs of others.

In most of these sci-fis I still like the bad guys more because they remind me of the people fighting against Israel and it's Imperial conquest.

@theartbook35 Sulu is my favorite old school Star Trek character, before anyone questions my fandom.

Unbelievably this is my favorite Star Trek Episode of all time.
Captain Sulu on the Exselsior. Great stuff.
Alana... hot woman.
I am an old man watchng the series since 1966... Jeff Quinn is better than Nimoy in this one.
So is Cawley.
I give this a 10.!!!

@noirgwio And after "To Serve All My Days," I thought it was pretty awesome to follow up a Chekov episode with a Sulu episode. =)

One of the best Star Trek stories ever written and not only that but also a great sci.fi short story too independent of being star trek or not.
Also, after this we cannot look at the sulu character the same way without thinking of his past depicted here. Great stuff.

As a story this is Star Trek at its best.
Take a 'Dilithium Star' for this post, Michael123BooDog2.

This version of Sulu would've fit in the Of Gods and Men storyline.
