@scottkillian1 I dont know what facts you are backing of this up with but if you are so smart you can probaly find them give them to me. You talk like a snot nosed little punk that couldnt fight his way out of a wet paper bag, all balls behind his little computer talking about a centrifugal clutch and engine torque but where is the stats to back up anything you are saying? If you are so smart they will be easy to find and share.
YOU are the one who needs to do some research. The jiffy engine has but a 12:1 gear ratio, while the shark 8000 engine rpm with 25:1 gear ratio. Now lets see.... I dont have the rpm of the jiffy 3.5hp, but any idiot who knows gearing knows that you get more torqe from 25:1 then you do from 12:1 (granted I cant find the info on engine rpm for the 3.5hp jiffy but lets just say it is the same for now) so your the one who souds like a idiot.
scottkillian1 The Jiffy turns the auger at a faster rpm but the Eskimo has more torqe/per hp what stats are you looking at I would like to see, so I'm calling BS
Just ordered the Z71 with an 8" bit from Glen's Outdoors. Can't wait to get it, tho the ice is long gone here in PA. I don't like the jiffys because of how they bog...sure they turn twice as fast but they don't have the torque that a 25:1 or 40:1 auger has. I like the 25:1 ratio...Nils and Eskimo are about that and I think it's perfect. 1st choice was Nils but the Eskimo with that mammoth engine was for a price that couldn't be beat!
No I have not, But I do run fuel treatment in all my small engines because the ethanol is just bad stuff on the engines. I had a old Eskimo shark it must have been over 25 years old that ran awsome for years but when they started putting ethanol in the gas it killed it. I bought both the Mako and the Shark last year so far so good they are a more consistent starter then the Jiffys in my opinion.
Yes, but the jiffy is a 8" and the Eskimo is a 10" the Jiffy is faster than the Eskimo Mako 8" by about the same speed that the shark beets the Lighting.
if i push my jiffy stealth stx pro II down with anymore than a slight bit of pressure it stops cutting, so if i could push down hard I would, Perhaps I should have bought and Eskimo Shark just a thought
looks like the Jiffy has dull blades. LOL

8" vs. 10" isn't a comparison- but I agree both are pretty awesome augers.

push that jiffy down dammmit
sniperbait171 1 year ago
@sniperbait171 you mean sharpen the blades. if you gotta push on it, not good. with sharp blades i actually have to hold mine back a bit.
mk072280 11 months ago
Thats not a fair comparison, the eskimo guy is pushing down hard while the jiffy guy is almost just holding the auger most of the time.
