Capitalism + private property ownership has given many Americans the opportunity to become rich when they started out poor. One of those countries leaders sent their army to take as much of it as they could, and they left the rest of it to rot, so the people who needed it never got it. I live in California. I hardly eat & am always hungry everyday. I live in a housefull of people but they're not my family. I'm blessed 2 even have a home, but I'm only 19 & I never eat. Sometimes I have 2 eat candy 4 food, & I don't really l ike candy all that much. It's just because I can't find a job anywhere, & don't have money to pay, and there's not enough food for me in this house. I haven't ate for a whole week already. I don't feel hunger pains anymore simply because I'm used to it now.

1) While US hunger IS a ridiculous issue here, we have plenty of food programs to address it. Third World hungry means starving to death; choosing which of your kids will starve to death because there are no food programs to feed the whole family and food aid is blocked or insufficient. In 2003 the world population was estimated at 6,312,842,466 with 842MM going hungry or 13%. 2009 world pop is estimated at 6,762,104,382 with 820MM hungry or 12%. True not a huge improvement but hardly going up.

This is not a good good solution, but I'll say it to make a point: wealthy people don't want to pay people in third world countries more than USD1 per hour to work. You can spend a billion dollars to stop a famine and people will eat for a few months....and then starve. What we need to have is economically sustainable communities and planned pregnancies. If a community---anywhere in the world---has jobs w/ salaries that enable the workers to buy goods, they won't need charity. Also: if impoverished communities could be granted farmland and seeds so they can grow fruits and vegetables, they could have a sustainable food source.

People are hungry because they lack the resources, education, and job skills to get what they want. There's too many illiterate people in the world. There's too many evil government officials that murder people and deny resources to them. Also: certain corporations benefit from limiting the resources on earth. Vast amounts of government land and privately owned land are not available to men who are starving. They have to beg for a job. All the global resources belong to a few people.

The U.S. has given food to countries that needed it in the past. One of those countries leaders sent their army to take as much of it as they could, and they left the rest of it to rot, so the people who needed it never got it. It's not just a matter of U.S. greed that is the issue here. Historically, the U.S. has given more than pretty much any other country to countries that are in need.

I live in California. I hardly eat & am always hungry everyday. I live in a housefull of people but they're not my family. I'm blessed 2 even have a home, but I'm only 19 & I never eat. Sometimes I have 2 eat candy 4 food, & I don't really l ike candy all that much. It's just because I can't find a job anywhere, & don't have money to pay, and there's not enough food for me in this house. I haven't ate for a whole week already. I don't feel hunger pains anymore simply because I'm used to it now.

Just because people are overweight doesn't necessarily mean they eat alot. There's even a disease where no matter how little you eat, you still gain weight. Alot of overweight people don't eat that much and alot of people look overweight but they're actually not. Usually, they are just big boned which makes them look overweight.. First thing we've got to see is what is causing hunger in the first place, and do something aboutit.But, as someone already said, those countries with higher hunger problems are ruled by dictators. 2) Individuals affect change, not governments or aid agencies. Buy from/invest in ethical businesses to change American business practices. Live "green" - use less resources and make less C02 to reduce climate change which creates droughts and floods that kill crops and cause hunger. Vote. Read. Give to responsible charities. Write your congressman. Don't wait for Govts to fix it.

1) While US hunger IS a ridiculous issue here, we have plenty of food programs to address it. Third World hungry means starving to death; choosing which of your kids will starve to death because there are no food programs to feed the whole family and food aid is blocked or insufficient. As a matter of triage, I'd say we've got our people stable, not well, but stable. It's the Third World hungry we need to help now. Helping the neediest is good PR for America, and the right thing to do.

World hunger has very little to do with the economy. It costs pennies to send seeds to starving families, and just a few more pennies to send actual food.
With the amount of food technology being practiced today, it would be a simple thing to feed everyone.

I am willing to bet that more than half of the countries with the highest numbers of starving people are dictatorships and not democratically elected Republics. Throughout history oppressive governments use hunger as a weapon to submit millions, but the US is supposed to sit on their hands and do nothing about it? I agree with you to a point. I'm sure a lot of the starving people are that way because they live in a country that is not socialist. But that's no reason for people in socialist countries or democratic countries not to care about them. It's not their fault that they don't live under socialism or a democratic republic. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't have food. Or anyone who doesn't have health care or health insurance. We all all in the same world and all people and this stuff makes me sad.

Here's something interesting I found. It's amazing what information you can find if you just look for it. In 2003 the world population was estimated at 6,312,842,466 with 842MM going hungry or 13%. 2009 world pop is estimated at 6,762,104,382 with 820MM hungry or 12%. True not a huge improvement but hardly going up.

Well, the first thing we could do to help reduce world hunger is to hold organizations like Greenpeace criminally liable for every death they cause due to their out-right lies. Their reckless actions lead to Zaire refusing all forms of GE foods despite the logic of Greenpeace being more than just faulty, it was an outright lie.

Developed nations contribute most to global warming, and sadly people in developing nations are the ones who pay the price. Desertification caused by global warming destroys land that was once used for farming! The world is running out of fresh water because of meat consumption! Animal farming causes global warming! No one questioned in this video seems to know anything about the food crisis. Farmer subsidies and food dumping are a huge contributor to this issue! That blonde girl seems to be under the impression that money is required to solve this problem. LOL. If developed nations would stop paying farmer subsidies, or even altered the way they paid farmers, we wouldn't have a surplus of food to dump in developing nations which actually hurts them more than it helps by killing their economy!
