Why don't we do what Warren Buffet did, purchased preferred shares with 10% interest?
That why they could get the cash they need.
Buffet didn't want to mess around with the toxic assets, why should we? Other than the politicians want to selectively dish out the 700B for political gain.
You gotta be kidding me... Fuck you, BUSH!!!! You are so full of shit it must be leaking out of the back of your head! No one wants to lend rich people anymore money. We are all hanging on by our fingernails, here! Go back to hell, Bush and tell your owners to go with you.
Bailouts not going to help, but neither is the complete deregulation the House Republicans apparently proposed. We really do need an independent party, these party's really have no idea what they're doing. But specifically the Republicans.

2008 Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader discusses the proposed Wall Street Bailout and his solutions. This is in response to a question asked by a student at the University of West Virginia, in Morgantown, on September 24, 2008.
I have to agree. The main thing that I see is that at the end of Bush's 2nd term, he wants to give $700b to the banks. Why not give it to the American people to pay off the debt instead. And the threats he is giving to us about losing our retirement money, etc. More fear. What happened to this country?
call your congress tell them no to the 700 billion dollar bailout 1-800-828-0498 then call AT&T a sponser of the debate ask them why no open debates let nader debate 1-800-283-6407
NO BAILOUT -- NO fearmongering .. no rescue .. I dont mind a recession for a couple of years. I dont believe in loans .. BUSH is an idiot and I dont believe anything he says
Reason for Bailout. Current Administration has staked a claim in these financial institutions and want to be able to get their Dividend cheques before these companies totally and utterly collapse!!!
Anyone who thinks they know the finer particulars of this economic crisis is selling you tripe. The cause & response needed is a matter of utter ambiguity that, in which we can only convey the generality that greedy coorperations got us in this mess, & there will be a domino effect across main street if we don't do something. That's the jist, in which little can be expatiated off of. I agree, no 700 billion dollars, when they won't tell what their doing; we need translucency & careful spending.
Your politians are the very same as the ones we have in canada the only difference is the number of poeple who they have to lie too canada 30 000 000 million
usa 300 000 000 million
the fraud that exist in society and permitted with reward is the reason why we all have what we have the truth is very bad
you know what you feel like after you realize you have been set up...
Criminals and liers, they have no credibility... on anything... Wake up... Did the dog eat McCain's homework. Holding America hostage if we dont go along. Not show up a scheduled debate... He is showing up to support his parter in crime shove this new lie down our throats.
All the dark days Bush predicts will come about if we bail out the criminals, and worse: we'll be at least 700 billion out of pocket. The FIRST $700 bn. Do you really think it will stop there? Or will it be like the "$80 Bn. cake walk" war in Iraq: the tip of the iceberg. The more we give them, the weaker we get, the more vulnerable to their criminality. There are yet another 130 or so banks to fail, we've only seen a small fraction of the failures, and already they want $700Bn.? What next
Who else remembers how many times the republicans said the Iraq war would be a "cake walk?" That we'd be in and out in months, wasn't it four months, they said before the war?

Nader makes a good point that one of these other banks or firms might had bailed out these companies with toxic accounts if there weren't rumors going around about this government bailout (last week). When the government invests money into them the price will definately be different than if they were sold on market.

Bush needs to go to jail for fraud, to start.

Expert told him ? Time to downsize the billionaires. Time to let it fail.
NO BAILOUT !
Maybe a loan, and at a good interest rate so the payback will yield balanced budgets or budget surplus.

The 700 billion is to bail out the fed and treasury. It's one big margin call.

Devided by (US population) 305,254,142
That's.... = $818.99
