  • great song

  • A classic! fucking A Page!

  • Beck and Page were friends since they were 12 dipshits

  • lol I don't see the connection between what is known to be pretty common in art history (The Beatles, Dixon, Picasso, Dumas, Malher... they all ripped off old stuff to create new stuff) and your sexual fantasies !

    sorry dude XD

  • @sonate64,if y'r a man(i doubt)borrow me your g-friend,wife or sister for a bit of a rompy-pompy(let me make 'em happy @least once in their lifes),if y'r girl..than borrow me yr sis or mama, only if she's in good condition and then tell me if that is OK by ya or them? How's that, how it feels to be borrowed,or to BORROW?

  • Kids...fact....Led Zepp.(Page/Plant)were/are the biggest plagiators in history of music not only RNR but the whole thing! Those who'll start cryin' 'bout this issue please check court and off court settlements that P&P had to undertake over the years+ few pending!Besides you can read Page's interview on the subject if you will..just google it and educate yourselves.!!!

  • @Mr63PB they're not the biggest plagiators... they're the GREATEST borrowers in rocknroll history !

  • @Mr63PB George Harrison got nailed too with My Sweet Lord-- He's' So Fine

  • im listening to punk but i love this...

  • who cares who the better is.they are as good as each other in their own right.when YB came to america during the british invasion it was page on ed sullivan doing all becks songs.beck was fired remember.page in an interview said he could barely keep up with becks over under sideways down.to be blunt, page attributed nothing to the yardbirds success.maybe dazed and confused, but he took it to zepplin.yardbirds live featuring page was pulled by page so dazed would not be associated with yardbirds.

  • ALWAYS LOVED THIS ONE!!

  • can u add lyrics please?

  • blues is gewd to hear when ur drinking thumbs up if u agree

  • i like the yardbirds better than zeppelin there more original and they play with great blues vibe what more can u ask for when u got beck, clapton, page not at the sametime of course but damn just great

  • yes i will admit a little part of me died when i realised just how much zeppelin songs are ripped off, but then again as the saying goes "good artists borrow, GREAT artists steal"

  • @SwanSong2156 I always thought that quote was supposed to be ironic. As if it meant that the artists that are known as great are the ones that steal. It reminds me of a Hitchcock quote. Creativity depends on you covering up your sources. I'm paraphrasing by the way.

  • @NeverAloneForever yeh man it probaly was ment as ironic but its true isnt it? music history is full of artists ripping off eachother, at the end of the day its all great music there shouldnt be competion

  • @SwanSong2156 Now there should be. Music sucks nowadays.

  • @NeverAloneForever i dno man it depended personaly i think people who think new music sucks are just lazy

  • @SwanSong2156 Not all new music. I just mean the radio along with most major label music acts nowadays. That Gnarls Barkley sure is a good singer (laughs).

  • great song

  • I love this song!

  • its since ive been lovin you

  • Great song!

    Thanks for posting it.

Can anyone find the guitar tab for this song?

    Thanks!

  • @dr00127

Just fuck around with the pentatonic scale in the key of G...at any given place where you can.

Tabs will not do anything to improve your playing.

I've been playing for 15 years & didn't get any better until I ditched reading tabs and went for it all by ear.

  • @m0dsar3us 100% agree, i play piano and the worst thing u can do is read those retarded "rock piano" books etc, just try it out by ear. only that way you can get real feeling and skill. reading tabs is bullcrap

  • This was Five Long Years

  • reminds me of 5 long years too

  • it's "since i've been loving you", certain.

  • great performance nowadays noone can't play like these gays it's so sad; this era have to been ended what's a shame

  • yeah, all the damn good gays are gone lol

  • Keith Relf is doing harmonica on this one.

  • AWESOME!!!! One of my fav Yardies tune.

Jeff's playing is so cool on this, love keiths harmonica playing, singing and the the words are so cool! By the way, this song is based on the old blues tune "Five Long Years" , which the YB performed live in their Clapton years. Actually, I have a live 68 YB version of this with Pagey, of course.

  • hey Author, isn't the opening riff played also in

    "Since I've Been Loving You"

    By Led Zeppelin

    ???

  • Yup, you've got right.

  • sure sounds like it!!

  • no, its "you shook me" I believe

  • no, it isn't you shook me, it is "since iv'e been lovin' you"

  • yes, this is the same riff

  • que buen blues

  • Guys are you deaf? Can't you hear that it's the same intro as Since Ive Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin? Even Page stole from Beck.

  • omg, thank you ive thought that for such a long time

  • Yeah but Page is still the better guitarist.

  • Who's the better guitarist is arguable. Songwriter? yes Page is miles ahead. But as a guitarist, you can't state it as a fact like that. Page technically cashed in on Beck's innovations and Beck is still going strong.

  • So maybe he did steal the first few notes of this from Since I've been Loving You but the rest of the song is all his. And as for stealing stuff, Beck constantly says he wrote Beck's Bolero when Jimmy did.

  • How are you so sure Beck isn't telling the truth. It's obvious Page thought of the rhythm but the melodic lines are obviously Beck. Are you seriously believing the man who's band didn't even credit the original writers to their songs?

  • I noticed it too... Page stole lots of songs pieces :P

  • @Misterxx606

Yeah, but this song is in G, & Zeppelin's tune is in Cm...

And yes - Page is using the same SCALE as Beck...AND EVERY OTHER FUCKING BLUES BASED ROCK GUITARIST FOR THAT MATTER.

Get over yourself - Page was definitely influenced heavily by Beck...but who wasn't? He has more of an "excuse" for ripping off Beck because he took his place in his fucking band!

If Page ripped off Beck, then Beck ripped off music...because the simple scale structures to YB & Zep songs are in everything.

  • @asmorgan88 how is using a blues scale structure ripping off music? you can keep making different melodies with the same scale structures

i am over myself i was just indicating that its the same intro you dont need to start talking about scales

and talking about what key the song is in is irrelevant also

if you write a melody and i play the same exact melody in a different key doesn't mean im playing a different melody

  • @TheMistercrowley

You're taking my words out of context, fella...and you're contradicting yourself.

If the intro to this tune is the same as "Since I've Been Loving You", then "I'm Not Talkin'", "Smile On Me", "Rack My Mind", "I Wish You Would", & countless others (just in The Yardbirds alone!), are the same song.

...and, as I'm sure you've heard, it's commonplace in the blues to "rip off" other artists. It's often seen as flattery too.

  • @asmorgan88 . . . and it's only solos. Not full songs. I can understand when someone points to a song Zepp ripped off and provides the evidence but that doesn't mean everything is stolen. Some things are just done over and over. Some will just look to every note for plagiarism. Ehh . . .

  • @NeverAloneForever

    Exactly!

    Very well put!

And, what's even more obnoxious is that all the people that cry "plagiarism" have only READ about the allegations...they didn't discover Page's "ripping off" on their own.

I hear a riff from John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" during a part of the solo for "Whole Lotta Love"...but I didn't read about it, I determined it by listening...and even so, never accredited Page as being a "rip off".

Many don't realize that "ripping off" is what made rock & roll..

  • @asmorgan88 I get that. However, I was trying to differentiate between little rip offs and stealing of full songs. You dig? So while I don't care to notice the similarities between John Lee Hooker's classic (which ain't plagiarism but repeated licks) and Jimi's solos (though I do notice the similarity between "Boom Boom" and Small Faces "You Need Loving", which we all know . . .), I do know where the song Whole Lotta Love came from.

  • @asmorgan88 i have heard that

this song itself is a reworking of an earlier song

i dont know why you would get so offended by this i was just trying to indicate how influential of a guitarist beck was

and i didnt get your point about those yardbirds songs being the same to be honest

    could u explain

  • @TheMistercrowley

You're saying that this song. and Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" are the same tune because the intros are similar, & of the same influence.

If so - the Yardbirds songs I listed must all be the same song, because all the intros are similar, are of the same style, & are influenced heavily by each other.

  • @asmorgan88 i never said theyre the same tune i said the intro melody is the same and u brought up the fact that theyre in different keys so i said thats irrelevant the melodies would still be the same

theyre not the same tune, just an intro

  • @TheMistercrowley

    It's not the same.

Listen to both, back to back...the intros are similar, as they're of the same influence...but they're both different.

With your claim, nearly half of The Yardbirds catalog are songs made up of the same melodies over & over again.

  • Comment removed

  • @asmorgan88 the first five notes is what im talking about

you dont have to bring up the fact that all yardbirds songs use the minor pentatonic that is not what im saying and that has nothing to do with my claim

the first small riff is the same, after that both songs go into their own thing

i was talking about the first five notes up until the bend ok? i dont get why u keep arguing about this almost everyone heard this distinct similarity

no one said jimmy page is any less of a musician

  • @TheMistercrowley

The intros are not the same.

    Just listen.

    Sure - they're similar, great...but they're different.

Listen to both intros back to back & there's no way you could deny it.

The intros to "I Wish You Would" & "Smile On Me" sound the same...but they're not the same. They're played differently. Same with a whole bunch of other tunes...songs that you probably haven't listened to, so you can't compare.

  • @asmorgan88 i dont get it are u playing a prank on me?

    its the same notes

    na na na na naaaaah(bend)

just that part is exactly the same

  • @Misterxx606

The Blues is all about ripping each other off... That's part of the fun...

  • brilliant!!!!!!

  • I love this song and the way Keith sings it, he also wrote it, didn't he?

  • Keith wrote this? I thought it was an old Blues song, covered by them......and didn t Keith die earky 00s, what a loss, talented on the harp, , as well as delivery,

  • well actually if I read somewhere lately that Neil Sedaka wrote it but Keith re-elaborated it, changing most of the lyrics.

  • Relf died in the seventies i think

  • I got dem Ol' Kosmic Blues again Mama!!!...LOL...

  • Indeed, I like this one too. I've got it in my iTunes. Thanks for posting.

  • Great! Thanks elofan, my hubby will be happy - he's a huge fan :)
