See what you guys don't understand is that the Khmer Empire is Cambodia only because of what we appreciate. Thai people don't give any shits about the Khmer Empire man. They originally broke off of us in the first place, so fuck them. Ignore them.
After the Siamese conquered Angkor, they brought many Khmer captives back to Ayutthaya. Some of these had been officials or craftsmen at the Khmer royal court and Ayutthaya's rulers adopted many Hindu practices that had been followed by the Khmers, including the concept of the ruler as god-king. The king acquired powers of life and death over all his people. Only members of the royal family could gaze upon his face and he had to be addressed in a special language used exclusively for royalty.
@cambodian555 oh yeah where i found the paragraph i even googled it yeah i did some research bitch its called KINGDOMS OF SOUTH EAST ASIA and oh yeah ANGKOR EMPIRE was a HINDU people ANGKOR AND 98% of the temples in south east asia are KHMER and there HINDU
@princeofwinter The Thai stole many from us Lao and Cambodians. I consider us Lao and Cambodians as brother and sister. =] The Thai claim the Khaen is theirs. But LAO invented and perfected it. Thats why you mostly see it in Northern Thailand which used to be Lao.
I really like this because it doesn't use the Mainland Southeast Asian Oboe called Pi ShaiNai in Thailand. It's sound would ruin this truly beautiful music.
The first part is "Sathukarn" (สาธุการ) Thai musician play this song as an overture (hom-rong) and as a holy song to pay respect to the holy teachers (or god). The second part is "Cherd" which is to play in movement. The musician who played "Kong" is good. I like the style he played. Like oksiam sais, it is the good old style of playing the Kong.
Khmer people have been living in Thailand when Thai people still lived in China until the Mongol pushed Thai people to live with Khmer people in SEA. When Thai people came to live with Khmer people, Thai people just copied Khmer culture and changed to Thai name.
Hom Rong is Khmer not Thai and this is not Hom Rong and this is not Thai.
This is a Khmer song called បួងសួង Buong Suong mean Wishing.
This Khmer Buong Suong song is performed with a Khmer Yantra dance called Buong Soung dance. All dancers of Buong Suong dance must hold a Yantra tissue in red. YouTube search for Traditional Khmer Dance created by GeminiEimichan and listen to the song, it is exactly the same.

dude before the angkor times we had that type of dance have you ever heard of the funan period thais were from southern china how do i know that look at thais look at khmers we are darker if you ever seen me before im a dark ass motha and im taller than you guys and if you wanna say oh some look the same its becouse we let you live in our land a long time ago just like the mexicans in america thais got the culture writing and dance from us we was the original race of south east asia thai kduy
The instruments and sounds they produce are almost exactly like those of Thai classical music. It's common knowledge (even if some Thais don't admit it!) that most of Thai court culture is received from the Khmers. Thai dance costumes were adopted over time by Khmer dancers (even the apsaras used to dance topless in Angkor times), so I wonder if the same cross-pollination thing happened with music? By the way, I'm not Thai, and I'm asking out of genuine curiosity :)

sang372 2 months ago
dekchaiplawan 5 months ago
dekchaiplawan 5 months ago

Thailand was the former Khmer Empire land in SEA.
