4. The young man in the video is not clear on Catholic teaching, and understandably objects to it. But that does not mean that the Church doesn't love him still. I don't hold it against him at all. A lot of people are misinformed these days, but it does sadden me that this young man AND you insist of believing God is an abstraction that SHOULD appeal to a persons individuality.
5. My God loves you, and there's nothing you can do about it.
@Lktfwhfwjarcrjcrh your comment is horrible. I forgive you tho, and may God too.
1. My God loves, that does NOT mean he caters to our human desires. It may be a bit complicated to think of, but you can live your whole life trying to figure out a divine being.
2. My God is your God. He is God. The one and only. You claim that there exists A Satan, it would be nonsense not to claim there is but ONE God.
3. My belief in God is revealed through the Catholic church, the same would be said...
@TheLogicalPosition. I call myself "white", too! Does that mean I base my whole identity on the color of my skin? "Gay" is the term agreed upon by the majority of American society to mean someone with homosexual attractions. SSA is word politics. I don't define myself by my orientation. Nobody should be that fixated on sex. If you believe that Courage does not attempt to pray the gay away, you go right on ahead and believe their propaganda. My experience says otherwise. That's why I left.
@Lktfwhfwjarcrjcrh Jesus Loves You and He suffered everything that you suffer - pains, torments, religious leaders, arrogance, hypocrisy. He was killed by religious leaders, then on the third day His tomb was found empty. He rose from the dead and promised all those who love Him, that they will also rise and live forever in paradise.
@muel0341 I don't see anything about homosexuality in that message. Why don't you just stick to something simple, like what you just said to Lktwhfwjarcrjcrh. I think more people would listen to you. Instead, you want to troll for videos from people you don't believe are real Catholics so you can Catechize them. Some of us don't believe everything we read! We're not overly-credulous!
@Ray77063 You know Ray, if you would read my response in the context of your last messages to me it would make sense. I'm not sure what your purpose is in being here, but I am here because after trying to make being gay work, after trying to make atheism work - It almost killed me - I am here to encourage those, who like me, want something more from life. I am here to tell them about Jesus, and about the Church, and about chastity. Without these I would be DEAD.
@muel0341 Okay, but you're in the wrong forum. This YouTuber is obviously on the liberal side. His videos will not attract viewers open to your perspective on same-sex attraction. I tried atheism, too. It didn't kill me, but it bored me to death!
@muel0341 My purpose for being here is to an enjoy a message about being kind to yourself and not letting others run over you. I keep checking back because you and I keep responding to each other's comments. I respond to Christians who say "You're wrong, because God says you are," in order to point out that their brand of Christianity (or Islam, for that matter) is not the only way to God for people who seek him/her. God is spirit, so he has no gender. Hence, "him/her".
don't you think if men were supposed to take a dick, they would have somehow another whole in their body?
your ashole is naturally there so you can crap form it, now shoving a dick in it, is unnatural.
Your dick have 2 natural functions ( I am sure you discovered this in school at some point, i am just reminding you ) , peeing and reproduction, and can be used in the toilets and with women to fulfil its purpose.
When you are ready to face up and acknowledge that this is you choice, to embed these corruptions of logic in your being, then you will seek a deeper understanding. Until then, you are a "human being who experiences homosexual attraction" in my eyes, and in the eyes of the Catholic Church. By the elements alone, there is NO difference. But, in substance, the centrality of sex in your identity is removed.Ergo, to oppose this identity, is to oppose dethroning sex from the center of your identity.
So when you conscientiously choose to identify as "gay", you are conscientiously choosing to embed those items into your being. a) You have made sexuality the center of your life-identity (which means you have replaced God with sex as the focal point of your life) b) You are lying to yourself that your life-identity could ever fully reflect the fullness of your existence with respect to the continuum of time in this universe, and c) You are not clarifying gay attraction or gay identity.
And thirdly, Courage teaches us that the human being existed before the characteristics of the human being. Sexual characteristics (outside of genetic code XX or XY) arrives AFTER you come into existence. Therefore, choosing a life-identify based on sexual attraction (and it is a choice because you have free will to respond to circumstances) actually denies the fullness of your existence, because your sexual attraction does not reflect your full existence over the universal continuum of time.
Secondly, Courage recognizes the difference b/w the existence of conscientious choice (CHOOSING to center your life-identity on sexuality) and the absence of conscientious choice (NOT choosing your sexual attractions. However, one word cannot house two contradictory terms, and still reflect truth. That is, when you call yourself GAY (or homosexual, or lesbian, etc....), you are washing together contradictory characteristics as NON-distinct, thus embedding "less than the fullness of truth".
Courage does not attempt to pray the gay away or attempt to straighten you out by having you do masculine things. Hanging with the boys in a pure and non-sexual way is something that is healthy for our beings.
All I can say is that I cannot judge them or condemn them because I'm not perfect myself. All I want to tell gay people is that Jesus loves them very much and they need to read Romans 1:26-27. And this dude is wrong about the fact that the bible never said anything about homosexuality. I can google it and do lots of research and it will tell me that the bible does say about it and the bible is against it. I'm sorry. God Bless.
@Eugene012 If the bible speaks about homosexuality, then show me the Hebrew word from the Leningrad Codex that has ALWAYS meant "homosexual". How about the ancient Latin word? You can't show me, because no one had any concept of homosexuality until modern times. Men used to rape men, not out of lust, but to humiliate them! Women of the enemy were not raped for lust, but to make them bear the shame of pregnancies resulting from humiliating rape. Why do we forget this?
@Eugene012 Thank you! Your response sounds like its coming more from love than a need to convert others. It sounds like you genuinely strive to keep an open mind. I appreciate that position! The ones who speak in absolutes are the ones who get my dander up. For them, if you don't share their faith, you're living in complete ignorance and have no redeeming qualities. That kind of attitude is sad. God bless you, too, in this brand new year!
@Ray77063 No problem. I guess what you are saying is true. It makes me think deeper and want to find out more. I thank you for that. People can share their faith all they want, but will it save the person? I guess they need to ask themselves that question. Just because you don't share you're faith doesn't mean your ignorant or have no redeeming qualities. Love can be a way for us to show others about our faith. =) Thanks Ray.
@EvelynMilne I've got news for you! You're not the pope! You don't have the right to make pronouncements on another man's religion! (Not that the pope does, either!) Honestly! How could you?! How presumptuous are you!!!
I like the intention. Gay people are not doomed to hell automatically. I love people. Therefore, people with any struggle are part of that love, including those suffering homosexuality.
However, there are some problems here.Catholic dogma is mandatory teaching; some rules are necessary to be Catholic.
@losackp "suffering homosexuality" : thanks, I'm fine, and my faith is too. You know what completely discredits your words? One word : dogma. What is that word doing here? Do you know the catholic church dogmas? There is absolutely no dogma about sex.
@swai777 On the Contrary - The whole of revelation begins with Sex - God made them Male and Female and he said be Fruitful and Multiply. Some of Jesus's most important teachings come when he talks about sex 1. The Woman at the Well, 2. The woman caugh in adultery, 3. the sermon on the mount and sayings about lust. In fact God is EXTREMELY concerned with how we behave and think sexually - Because Sex is a Reflection of God's Own Nature - The Nature of Love and Creation. True love makes life.
Homosexual acts are big sins. (moral theology suggests it can be venial or mortal based on formation of conscience.)
1 Samuel 18: They're not gay. Christ loved John with all his heart, but Christ was celibate.
Isn't the fact that Jesus never talked about homosexuality, but only of traditional marriage proof OF his teaching only on Traditional marriage? Plus, Deuteronomy lays it out plain and simple.
@losackp how can someone with knowledge and love can have no problem with the fact that something that is completely harmless can be a "big sin". What's with this obsession about sex being so "mortal"? Don't you think there is something wrong here? And if you are catholic, I must remind you that the prevailing Testament in the New one. The Ancien Testament is way too complicated to be easily interpreted. If Jesus never taught about iPhones, that makes them evil? Come one, let's be serious :)
I have to say that I think I love this video quite a bit. I remember about a year ago I sat through an entire sermon (my family is Catholic as well) where the priest told the congregation that being gay was wrong and God was going to scorn them and blah, blah, blah. I wanted to rage and scream. My best friend is gay and even I would admit to liking other females (sometimes). I'm not Catholic anymore but I think you've got a VERY strong point with this video and I agree one hundred percent.
I'm sorry for your bad experiences in your life with the Catholic Church, but if you are willing to acknowledge scripture some scripture as truth and divinely inspired, you MUST acknowledge all of it, for the same Holy Spirit inspired all of it, by means of writing it, compiling it, and validating it, all done by divinely inspired men. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE know what the Catholic church is all about before lying to others. I'm sure you had no bad intent, God love you brother.
Some facts: 1) The Catholic church LOVES those living with same sex attraction, see for yourself. 2) There is NO SUCH THING as a progressive Catholic church or being a Catholic and not following the teachings of Jesus Christ. 3) Jesus of speaks plainly of marriage between a man and a woman in which through love results in children, only in marriage is sex defined in it's entirety, without marriage, homo AND hetero sex is incomplete and contradicting by definition of our whole existence -
i do believe in God i also used to be catholic but now i have stopped identifying as a catholic and i am happy to say that i'm not although catholicism is as respectable of a religion as any i think that the catholic church was to conservative for a homosexual and until to stop living in medieval times i will not identify as a catholic
@ned262626 stfu you don't even know what its like being gay and going to a catholic school catholicism is one of the most conservative religions ever and when your gay you are either to have an excorcism or go to hell
Someone who claims to speak for the Catholic church and faith must draw from Catholic sources. All catholic sources agree - homosexual identity is NOT a sin, but homosexual behavior IS a sin. If you are catholic and praciticing homosexual behavior - you are in mortal sin and should not recieve communion until first seeking the sacrament of reconciliation.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have successfuly framed themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
I agree with most of the other sensible people that have commeted thus far, being Catholic has nothing to with disliking or liking people. And as far as I know the Bible never says GAYS ARE BAD so why does everyone keep assuming that people who believe the Bible, especially in the case of catholics which I am, hate gay people. The ignorant say that Catholics are judgemental, but aren't they doing the same thing? Food for thought.
I'm Catholic and wrote you once going skinny dipping with a gay friend. I became aroused looking at him and we were on the swim team. He got me off with his hand and also his mouth. I used my hand on him and he placed it there and it was great feeling. You said I was gay. Since then he been over and spent the night and yes we did. I was top and the bottom. It's so cool my friend. Just wanted to share with you.
Im Catholic and don't find homosexuality wrong im not a homosexual, I just don't see why a man and another man can't be married or a women and another women can't be married.
I am also homosexual and catholic - but I recognize that there is much greater joy in Chastity than there is in homosexuality. I know this because I tested it. I had relationships and sex with men, and it sucked. I am happier now as a chaste homosexual man than I ever was before. It was a failure of the homosexual life that led me to become a christian and a catholic. The truth is hard to find, but if you seek sincerely, you will find it and you will find happiness.
I truly appreciate your comment. So many misunderstand the Catholic teaching on homosexuality. The passages 2357-2359 in the Catechism state exactly what you have lived. "Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided." in the next section " Homosexual persons are called to chastity. The virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer ... they can and should... approach Christian perfection."
@muel0341 I cannot imagine the suffering you must go through because of SSA (same sex attraction). Keep struggling to maintain your chastity, because you are a person of worth and do not need to fall to your sinful urges. I am heterosexual and I struggle with chastity myself. Stay strong and God bless!
@muel0341 not everyone can live a chaste life. Chastity is something great but no one is equal when it comes to this. I don't say it's case, I don't know you but it's easy to be chaste when you don't like sex or if you are disgusted by relationship. I am catholic and I have a boyfriend and I try to love him the best I can, to give him love and I don't think I will go to hell for that!
@muel0341 And what happens in the bedroom does not concern any1 else than me, him, and God. This obsession of sex being a mortal sin is not at the core of the catholic religion.
@swai777 True, God is concerned with this. But know that homosexual acts are ALWAYS considered to be disordered because they close off the marital act to procreation, which is its purpose. Sex is meant to produce children, and bond a husband and wife to one another. You cannot remove either of these from sexual relations and have it be chaste.
Be careful about substituting YOUR beliefs from what is the truth - this is what Protestants do and remember that the Church has authority.
@drdst17 that's exactly what I am "talking" about. This nonsense about sex being only about procreation is nothing but ideologic and hypocrite views. The catholic church teach us what is BEST but you know, even saints fall sometimes. I believe that the only poeple who live that way (sex only for children) are either people who don't like sex or guys who exploit their wife by making 15 children. Don't worry for me, I am a roman catholic and I'll die defending IT.
@swai777 It is good that you are Catholic, but if you reject God's view on homosexual relations, then you are not being faithful to it. Sex is twofold - unitive and procreative. If any of those two are separated, then it is sinful. If you don't REPENT of your sins, then you will die in them!
Being Catholic in name only is not good enough - we must struggle every day to be Christ-like, and sometimes we fall. But with confession, we can be renewed. I will pray for you. God Bless.
@drdst17 yes the church has authority. That doesn't mean you have to torture yourself trying to live a life you believe is right just because some people decided out of the blue that sex is something sooooo wrooooong. Get over it, it doesn't make any sense that God would condemn you to hell just because you had sex without wanting to have a kid... You can't imagine how many stupid "catholics" forget to love their neighbor just to defend these absurd theories...
@swai777 I'm sorry that you are substituting your beliefs on sexuality over what the Church teaches. Sex isn't wrong, but sex outside heterosexual marriage is. It is disordered and no amount of "feelings" will change that. It may make you feel "happy" initially, but you know in your heart that something is amiss.
It is out of love that I tell you this. If you repent of your sins, God WILL forgive you! He forgave me of my lack of chastity in my life, He can forgive yours.
@drdst17 I am not substituting anything, but you are when you write about "God's view on homosexual relations". Jesus never said anything about that so... it's ideologic as I said.
It's not that it makes me happy, it is just natural. You know, I wish my life would be simpler, with a wife and kids, it's hard to accept I won't be a father.
And don't worry, I repent from my sins, I try not to create my own religion. Thanks for your prayers, you have mine too ;)
@swai777 But homosexual acts are NEVER "natural". It just feels that way to you. And the CHURCH teaches that they are, and it has the authority to speak for Christ. So your "Jesus never said.." argument is flawed. Be careful, here: you are substituting your own feelings and beliefs over what the Truth actually is. Whether or not you are saved is up to God, but it seems you've convinced yourself that your sin is not sin. I did that, too. Thank God I realized the truth.
@drdst17 this "natural" question is nonsense. It's found in nature (in many animal species by the way...) so it is natural. Killing is natural too, it's bad but it's natural because it's part of human nature, etc. So be careful, your speech doesn't add up. And ask yourself if you are not the one substituting your feelings and beliefs over what the Truth is. I'm doing it you know, and I've done it for a long time.
@swai777 Again, you are substituting your own "theology" in place of what the Church actually teaches. And it is NOT found in nature, contrary to what you say. Any examples put forth are the exception, not the norm, and occur for a variety of reasons.
My feelings and beliefs aren't relevant here, because they are in line with what the Church teaches. Yours, unfortunately, are not. One cannot commit sexual immorality such as yourself and claim to be a faithful Catholic.
@swai777 If you believe that you homosexuality is from God, then you have left the church and should not receive the Eucharist. You have chosen your own path, but it is not a Catholic path. To receive the Eucharist in a state of disbelief is a grave sin. I thnk you have confused the "Normal" with the "Natural". Yes it's also 'natural' for babies to be born with out legs - but is it Normal? No it is the result of our fallenness - and the child should be healed if possible.
@swai777 You're right, mortal sin is not the core. What is then? Faith and trust in God and obedience to his word. No one goes to hell for loving someone - people choose to go to hell because they confuse love with things that are not love. God created Man in his image. Male and Female he created them. The male completes the female, and the female the male. True love between men comes exclusively in the form of non-sequal intemacy, for the only healthy sex for a man is with a woman.
@muel0341 yes but be careful about what is His word. Gospels are his word and yes, church people are supposed to be inspired by the holly spirit but they are not always...
And yes the male completes the female etc but that has nothing to do with homosexuality, like it has nothing to do with single people, monks and priests and nuns...
And again, sex is not only about procreation. This has been invented.
@swai777 "Sex is not only about procreation" is true. It is BOTH unitive AND procreative. It cannot be just one or the other. Sex is not just for procreation. Sex is NOT just for showing love and unity with another person.
It is BOTH - if one of those two are purposefully shut off, then the sexual act is sinful. Homosexual acts are CLOSED to the possibility of procreation, and are therefore sinful.
Study the Catechism, if you are a faithful Catholic you MUST follow it! God Bless
@muel0341 The next time you meet the wife of a homosexual man, try asking her if she feels complete. No! Don't really do that! You'll out her poor husband and open a can of worms. We are gay. Except for the bisexuals among us, we have no clue about marital love for the opposite sex, because WE AREN'T ATTRACTED. It's so SILLY to think that a gay man can genuinely "turn" straight! How do you do that? Vice versa is also ridiculous! Search for "Ex-Gay" and read/view the apologies.
@Ray77063 Ray, I have been doing this for a long time and I know all about the reviews your talking about and in my experience I have found them to be off the mark. There is some truth there, but as someone completely dedicated to Christ, I have to be willing to pursue Him, even into the absurdity of the cross - and I have been all the happier for it. Either I am dedicated to Christ, or I am dedicated to something else. As a catholic, I cannot simply resign myself to imperfection. I strive.
@muel0341 I have to agree with you about the absurdity. I once tried to marry a young woman, my age at the time, for religious reasons. If I had continued in that sham marriage, I would sooo be cheating on her, right now(!), because I was always trying DESPERATELY to keep my eyes off the cute guys around us. Lucky for her, I let her go. She's fine, now. A nun advised me, "What's important is that you RESPECT her." Too late! Damage done! Not saying u would do it, but others here might.
@muel0341 I can't get over the tendency of religious people to think in terms of black and white. Either I'm dedicated to Christ or WHAT?! What do you mean by "something else"? That covers a lot of territory. I could be dedicated to world peace, a cure for cancer, an end to hunger and poverty. I could be dedicated to the teachings of the Buddha, the philosophy of the Dao, the elimination of religious bigotry. I cold be dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a pos. attitude...
@Ray77063 I love Jesus Christ. He has changed my life, He has bought peace where there was only pain. To live my life for anything else would be silly. Only Christ gives my heart peace. Only Christ gives eternal life. Nothing else will save me in Heaven or on Earth than Jesus Christ. Even straight men struggle with chastity - I am not an exception because I am homosexual - I must struggle for Chastity as Christ has called me, and in so doing I discover LOVE.
@muel0341 Not everything is black and white. What would it be like to live in a world of black and white? Take confession, for instance. It would not exist, because, according to the Paul, the wages of sin is death. If confession were allowed, you would still have to confess publicly, because, private confession is a concession. You certainly wouldn't get a light penance! That's a concession from the Irish. Black and white is cut and dry. There's no wiggle room. Do you still want b&w?
@muel0341 Whenever you are ready. Sex within true love is much better, because it becomes an expression and enhancement of that love and not simply about selfish or lustful pleasure. This of course applies to all human beings.
@TheLogicalPosition Been there, done that! They can't even say the word "gay". They have to say "same-sex attracted". I was part of Courage for 8 years. I could so KICK myself for ever going! They expect you to have the sexuality of fly larvae. . . for LIFE! They're finally being more open about their opinion that gays will magically turn straight if they work on acting more masculine. The GLBT community have a word for that, already: "straight-ACTING". It changes NOTHING!
@muel0341 You are a remarkable young man. To make the journey from active homosexuality, then to chastity and finally to be a Catholic must have been a long journey. "God draws straight with crooked lines." I was born Catholic and am a gay celibate. Yes, I made several bad choices & ended up with herpes! Herpes, for me, now acts as a brake on any temptation. I would never want to pass this virus on to anyone. May God continue to guide & strenghten you through the Catholic Church!
i have to say born and raised catholic...and i still work in the church. The catholic church has been very supportive of me and my sexuality...and even has special masses once a month for gays and their families. There are many gays in the church. The CC dosent agree with homosexual practices however they believe if you honestly do not believe in your heart that it is a sin, and you live well...then God does not hold it against you. A priest told me its between you and God...
You know my religious views? People should be who they want. Except pedophiles. That'd just sick and wrong. And a couple more exceptions, but I don't want to type them right now
Looks like you are advestising yourself to have sex. If you are you are committing a sin. Anyone who lusts in their heart to have sex with someone is wrong. I am not talking about the glances of evaluations but if your behavior towards getting sex from someone it is wrong. Fight your nature. Mens nature is to have sex with many as possible.
God did not create sin or sinners. The devil is using science to convince people that they are born with genetic predispositions to be gay, and a couple of verses from the bible do not make the whole bible. God does not despise the sinner who is his creature, despises sin which is not his creation. God does not condemn sinners, but sin. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, and in the last judgement all gays will go to spend eternity with the father they chose (the devil) unless they repent.
People did not put the rules, God gave a law, and all morality comes from God, because we have thoughts for destroying and condemning ourselves. "Live happy, do what you want, have no regrets, enjoy life, enjoy your body, do not feel depress, worship creation, not the creator, God loves you, god does not despises you, etc.," This is called hedonism, and there's a place for this, many gays are suffering in hell the worst torments that not even people on earth can have or endure, no secs of rest
Okay, Davey.... You asked for comments, so here goes. The most liberating thing I've ever learned is that gods and religious thought are all products of the human imagination. Just live, be considerate to others and to Nature, and be happy.
Homosexual acts are sin according to God. I lived the lifestyle for FIFTEEN YEARS. One priceless piece of wisdom that i can give to you is that homosexuality is a FALSE REALITY. It took me fifteen years to realize this. I may never lose same sex attraction however I will no longer walk along the path that leads to destruction. I choose to walk along the narrow road which leads to true life and liberty. May God bless you all.
I'm not religious or gay, but I love that you are sending out this message to young gay people. They really need to hear this. The images of Hell and torment can eat a person up. Thank-you
Hahahahahahaha k so after u said David n Jonathan were doin it I went back and read it n I wz just like hahaha lolol! And Jesus did not say a single word about homosexuality and I'm bi and I'm catholic too so ya u hav some great points and damn ur sexy!! Btw I'm a girl so yea
I am religious. Curch of Christ and do I not condem anyone of any orientation -- unless they are living in a state of self induced ignorance -- I do not give a shit about your or anyone's sexuality, but please, please, please put on a shirt, dude. Your putting straight guys to shame and making women want to change me . . . . . . . even more.
Okay, i don't know about David and Johnathan doing it, but i have to admit when i heard that, i start laughing. Yes, the bible says that they were really close and that David put his chest on Johnathan... but that doesn't mean they were doing it... even though it would be nice to believe they were.
2358: "They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
2359: "Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection."
Catechism of the Catholic Church 2357: "Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity (Gen 19:1-29), tradition has always declared that 'homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved."
If someone tells you you will go to hell because you're gay, well... that person can't be catholic, or maybe a very ignorant catholic.
It's sad that gays (I am) only perceive stupid judgmental opinions from catholic people who don't understand the reality about us because that is so not what catholic religion is about and there is absolutely no contradiction between being gay and being catholic. NOT A SINGLE ONE :)
@swai777 Awesome statement. Being gay doesn't condemn us to hell, being UNCHASTE does. And all of us (gay or straight) are called to Chastity! It is very hard sometimes, but is rewarding in the end. Keep fighting, you are worth it!
@drdst17 I'm happy to tell you that "unchastity" doesn't condemn to hell. And you must first have to define "unchastity" (there is quite a difference between doing things with 4 different persons in one night in a bar and sharing affection with a boyfriend...) What condemns to hell is fully and willingly being separated from God and being intimate with someone you love can't possibly do that :)
@swai777 You are partially correct here. Chastity basically means a lack of sexual relations with another person by preserving the purity of the body. You can "love" anyone you want - Jesus loves all of us and wants us to do the same! However, having sexual relations with someone of the same sex IS disordered and will destroy Chastity, no matter how well intentioned. You should read the Catechism or see a priest to make sure you are living a chaste life.
@drdst17 as I said, it's easy to brag about being chaste when you don't like sex. I don't mean it's your case but no one is equal when it comes to this. Therefore, people who deprive themselves when they crave for it but sometimes do it anyway, deserve more a medal than the ones who hate it and never do it. All these dogmatic statements about sex are not inspired by the holly spirit but by ideologic views inherited from the 19th century.
@drdst17 Making a distinction between straight and gay sex doesn't make any sense. Like saying it's "not natural". Or a perversion, etc. It just is and it is natural and there is nothing wrong with it, maybe that's the reason why Jesus never talked about it :)
Don't think that, as a roman catholic, you MUST believe everything written in the Catechism, people who wrote it are flawed and they can make mistakes and some of them are quite obvious ;)
@swai777 There is also a difference between killing someone and bearing false witness against them - yet both are sins against the inherent dignity of that person and miss the mark that Jesus called us to when he commands us to love. I am sorry that having SSA is so hard and confusing - it is for me too, but I can tell you that the love of God is far greater and that love calls us either to celebate single life, or heterosexual marriage open to the birth of children and parenthood.
@muel0341 If I could give you a million thumbs up, I would. Please continue to be a testimony to those struggling with SSA, because they need it. All of us struggle with chastity, SSA-inclined persons do so on a level that heterosexuals cannot even begin to comprehend. Remember to go to confession often - that's what helped me turn my life around!
@muel0341 Don't be sorry about something you can't do anything about ;) And I am not confused. Of course, we live a difficult life, at the edge of moral standards, but I found peace in my heart and I'm proud of being gay and prouder of being catholic. This "SSA" expression seems to be reminiscent of the pseudo-christian views that make homosexuality a disease. I hope that is not what you believe. God bless you :)
If you want to be both a GAY and a Catholic then become a PRIEST-most of them seem to be gay and Catholic-this way you will know for sure when you die that you are going to Hell for serving Satan in two capacities.
For all those people out there arguing about the bible and being gay and etc, the bible (in John 8:7) also says, "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone." So worry about yourself, inform if you must but be kind and don't argue, you're not perfect either. (Nor am I)
I love this guy and 4 me that's saying something (blame the craziness in my head) but Wat I don't like r the ppl who say being Glbt is either a choice or a decease. Well 4 their info it's neither. U don't choose 2 b straight or a guy or white. Rather it's chosen 4 u. Is being black a decease or just the way some1 skin adapted 2 lots of sun? 2 me being a stuck up snob who is narrow minded is a decease!!!
@imasexydog12 , being gay IS a choice. I don't mean to make you feel like you are in paradise by saying the following; a lot more people have "gay" feelings than those who "come out of the closet". It is a matter of self control and choice. How many people would really like to steal, kill, abandon their husband/wife/children, not go to school/work/doctor/hospital, have affairs outside marriage, etc. Should we? ..... humans are given something called "Conscience" to distinguish right from wrong.
Thank youu! you don't knw how many times i've been told that i was going to hell..being raised in a strict catholic family sure makes it hard to love yourself.
Why did this guy feel the need to go shirtless for his video? Frankly, I didn't hear a word he said because I was preoccupied looking at his cute tits.
Hey great first vlog! I think you're really funny! I just subbed your channel. Keep em coming and I'll keep watching and liking. I hope you can check out my videos sometime and subscribe to me if you like them :) Anyways, great job and keep it up!
I would recommend reading the actual book of Leviticus. You will see that most of the laws in Leviticus are not followed nowadays. For example: Not eating pork or shellfish, if a woman gives birth she isn't allowed to touch anything "holy" or enter a sanctuary and has to spend thirty-three days "purifying," and more. Coincidentally, a phrase in Leviticus was also used to justify slavery in the 1800s.
• What I don't get is how gays are still getting away with it. I'm almost certain they are diseased (see link), from birth, and can't do anything about it until a cure is found... But it's the society that tolerated this! All of you!
@anotherbottleofbeer because their are so many negative symptoms to loving someone, its not a disease you tool its a wonderful positive mutation to the kingdom of man. i don't get what the sin is in loving someone regardless of what gender they are, it is be just as unimportant as race or religion. The sad thing is you expect us to exile them like they are some type of rabid animal, that my friend is a the abomination. don't bother replying i don't want to hear any more ignorance....
@anotherbottleofbeer its not a "disease" as you so wrongly put it, its completely natural just like Blue eyes or brown hair since it has been proved that Homosexuality is a defect within your Genes (dominant and passive genes etc.) Saying homosexuality is a disease is like saying Ginger people are diseased because they have red hair. (FYI, Ginger hair occurs because of a defect in the hair Genes)
@sonicperson123 Using Leviticus to condemn homosexuality is against being Christian. Christians are not bound by the Laws of Moses. And the book of Leviticus lists the Laws of Moses such as the law not allowing homosexuality and not being able to eat pork. Those laws are only for Jewish people to follow. Colossians 2:14 "He(Jesus Christ) wiped out the written Law(Leviticus Laws) with its rules. The Law(Leviticus Laws) was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross."
@YouHaveBeauty That's rubbish! Jesus said that 'not one jot' of old testament law would be washed away. The new testament supports the old. And the central doctrine of the new testament-the doctrine of atonement, is one of the most immoral concepts imaginable. Punishing one person in order to forgive transgressions by others is a disgrace and not something to be admired at all! Am I wrong? I am a loving father. Would I punish one of my children for the crimes of others? I don't think so, do you?
@boc1953 The Law is still there, we have it in our Bibles. But that doesn't mean we need to follow the Laws of Moses. It is clear that Jesus fulfilled the Law for which he nailed on the cross. I'm quoting the Colossians 2:14 from the Bible itself, the message isn't saying the law is destroyed and gone forever and we will never see it again, that's not the purpose, it means we are not bound to it anymore because Christ fulfilled it for us. He wiped it's burden away from US but NOT from existence.
@YouHaveBeauty Like I said, the doctrine of atonement is a true abomination for any moral normal thinking person. If you believe it is wrong to punish one person for the sin of another, then you are more moral than your god and deserving of more respect than he is. God had his son tortured and killed so that he could forgive us for sins he knew we would commit before he even created us (omniscient). Why not just forgive us? Or make us unable to think (ie. sin) in the first place? It's fantasy!
@boc1953 An important thing to remember is that if you're going to follow one law in the Laws of Moses, you must follow ALL of them, Paul makes this clear. Many Christians today thoughtlessly quote others to follow Leviticus and its laws specifically on homosexuality, but when it comes to eating lobster, clams, pork, shaving beards, and wearing two-type clothed clothes, they are hypocritical in following them. The Laws of Moses is NOT a pick and choose set of rules. Following it means ALL of it
@YouHaveBeauty I couldn't agree more! I have had this exact discussion with numerous christians and they always try to claim their own interpretation of the phrases. It's always the same. Crazy!
Great question: The old testament still contains great moral guidelines, but the specific laws (e.g. the saabath is holy) are not relevant today. They were for the Israel times in the pre-Christ era.
If you want a New Testament passage concerning homosexuality, here goes: Romans 1:18-32. =)
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.Genesis 6:5
@crazypersonlol34 Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. John 8:7 maybe you should learn how to read everything and not just what you think sounds good in your ears

I don't get it? Why be Catholic at ALL, then? Why not be close to god, be spiritual, and stop with the Catholicism???
seems the only reason a gay man would remain catholic is fear of losing his family or being ostracized, or he... has never read his own bible.

@Lktfwhfwjarcrjcrh by the young man in the video.
5. My God loves you, and there's nothing you can do about it.
soccer1288 1 month ago
@Lktfwhfwjarcrjcrh your comment is horrible. I forgive you tho, and may God too.
1. My God loves, that does NOT mean he caters to our human desires. It may be a bit complicated to think of, but you can live your whole life trying to figure out a divine being.
2. My God is your God. He is God. The one and only. You claim that there exists A Satan, it would be nonsense not to claim there is but ONE God.
3. My belief in God is revealed through the Catholic church, the same would be said...
soccer1288 1 month ago

Without these I would be DEAD.
muel0341 1 month ago
@muel0341 Okay, but you're in the wrong forum. This YouTuber is obviously on the liberal side. His videos will not attract viewers open to your perspective on same-sex attraction. I tried atheism, too. It didn't kill me, but it bored me to death!
Ray77063 1 month ago
@muel0341 My purpose for being here is to an enjoy a message about being kind to yourself and not letting others run over you. I keep checking back because you and I keep responding to each other's comments. I respond to Christians who say "You're wrong, because God says you are," in order to point out that their brand of Christianity (or Islam, for that matter) is not the only way to God for people who seek him/her. God is spirit, so he has no gender. Hence, "him/her".

TheLogicalPosition 1 month ago
So when you conscientiously choose to identify as "gay", you are conscientiously choosing to embed those items into your being. a) You have made sexuality the center of your life-identity (which means you have replaced God with sex as the focal point of your life) b) You are lying to yourself that your life-identity could ever fully reflect the fullness of your existence with respect to the continuum of time in this universe, and c) You are not clarifying gay attraction or gay identity.
TheLogicalPosition 1 month ago
And thirdly, Courage teaches us that the human being existed before the characteristics of the human being. Sexual characteristics (outside of genetic code XX or XY) arrives AFTER you come into existence. Therefore, choosing a life-identify based on sexual attraction (and it is a choice because you have free will to respond to circumstances) actually denies the fullness of your existence, because your sexual attraction does not reflect your full existence over the universal continuum of time.
TheLogicalPosition 1 month ago
Secondly, Courage recognizes the difference b/w the existence of conscientious choice (CHOOSING to center your life-identity on sexuality) and the absence of conscientious choice (NOT choosing your sexual attractions. However, one word cannot house two contradictory terms, and still reflect truth. That is, when you call yourself GAY (or homosexual, or lesbian, etc....), you are washing together contradictory characteristics as NON-distinct, thus embedding "less than the fullness of truth".
TheLogicalPosition 1 month ago
Courage does not attempt to pray the gay away or attempt to straighten you out by having you do masculine things. Hanging with the boys in a pure and non-sexual way is something that is healthy for our beings.
TheLogicalPosition 1 month ago
All I can say is that I cannot judge them or condemn them because I'm not perfect myself. All I want to tell gay people is that Jesus loves them very much and they need to read Romans 1:26-27. And this dude is wrong about the fact that the bible never said anything about homosexuality. I can google it and do lots of research and it will tell me that the bible does say about it and the bible is against it. I'm sorry. God Bless.
Eugene012 1 month ago
@Eugene012 If the bible speaks about homosexuality, then show me the Hebrew word from the Leningrad Codex that has ALWAYS meant "homosexual". How about the ancient Latin word? You can't show me, because no one had any concept of homosexuality until modern times. Men used to rape men, not out of lust, but to humiliate them! Women of the enemy were not raped for lust, but to make them bear the shame of pregnancies resulting from humiliating rape. Why do we forget this?

That kind of attitude is sad. God bless you, too, in this brand new year!

@Ray77063 No problem. I guess what you are saying is true. It makes me think deeper and want to find out more. I thank you for that. People can share their faith all they want, but will it save the person? I guess they need to ask themselves that question. swai777 2 months ago
True love makes life.
muel0341 2 months ago
Homosexual acts are big sins. (moral theology suggests it can be venial or mortal based on formation of conscience.)
1 Samuel 18: They're not gay. Christ loved John with all his heart, but Christ was celibate.
Isn't the fact that Jesus never talked about homosexuality, but only of traditional marriage proof OF his teaching only on Traditional marriage? Plus, Deuteronomy lays it out plain and simple.
losackp 2 months ago
@losackp how can someone with knowledge and love can have no problem with the fact that something that is completely harmless can be a "big sin". What's with this obsession about sex being so "mortal"? Don't you think there is something wrong here? And if you are catholic, I must remind you that the prevailing Testament in the New one. The Ancien Testament is way too complicated to be easily interpreted. If Jesus never taught about iPhones, that makes them evil? Come one, let's be serious :)

@muel0341 not everyone can live a chaste life. Chastity is something great but no one is equal when it comes to this. I don't say it's case, I don't know you but it's easy to be chaste when you don't like sex or if you are disgusted by relationship. I am catholic and I have a boyfriend and I try to love him the best I can, to give him love and I don't think I will go to hell for that!
swai777 2 months ago
@muel0341 And what happens in the bedroom does not concern any1 else than me, him, and God. This obsession of sex being a mortal sin is not at the core of the catholic religion.
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 True, God is concerned with this. But know that homosexual acts are ALWAYS considered to be disordered because they close off the marital act to procreation, which is its purpose. Sex is meant to produce children, and bond a husband and wife to one another. You cannot remove either of these from sexual relations and have it be chaste.
Be careful about substituting YOUR beliefs from what is the truth - this is what Protestants do and remember that the Church has authority.
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 that's exactly what I am "talking" about. This nonsense about sex being only about procreation is nothing but ideologic and hypocrite views. The catholic church teach us what is BEST but you know, even saints fall sometimes. I believe that the only poeple who live that way (sex only for children) are either people who don't like sex or guys who exploit their wife by making 15 children. Don't worry for me, I am a roman catholic and I'll die defending IT.
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 It is good that you are Catholic, but if you reject God's view on homosexual relations, then you are not being faithful to it. Sex is twofold - unitive and procreative. If any of those two are separated, then it is sinful. If you don't REPENT of your sins, then you will die in them!
Being Catholic in name only is not good enough - we must struggle every day to be Christ-like, and sometimes we fall. But with confession, we can be renewed. I will pray for you. God Bless.
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 yes the church has authority. That doesn't mean you have to torture yourself trying to live a life you believe is right just because some people decided out of the blue that sex is something sooooo wrooooong. Get over it, it doesn't make any sense that God would condemn you to hell just because you had sex without wanting to have a kid... You can't imagine how many stupid "catholics" forget to love their neighbor just to defend these absurd theories...
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 I'm sorry that you are substituting your beliefs on sexuality over what the Church teaches. Sex isn't wrong, but sex outside heterosexual marriage is. It is disordered and no amount of "feelings" will change that. It may make you feel "happy" initially, but you know in your heart that something is amiss.
It is out of love that I tell you this. If you repent of your sins, God WILL forgive you! He forgave me of my lack of chastity in my life, He can forgive yours.
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 I am not substituting anything, but you are when you write about "God's view on homosexual relations". Jesus never said anything about that so... it's ideologic as I said.
It's not that it makes me happy, it is just natural. You know, I wish my life would be simpler, with a wife and kids, it's hard to accept I won't be a father.
And don't worry, I repent from my sins, I try not to create my own religion. Thanks for your prayers, you have mine too ;)
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 But homosexual acts are NEVER "natural". It just feels that way to you. And the CHURCH teaches that they are, and it has the authority to speak for Christ. So your "Jesus never said.." argument is flawed. Be careful, here: you are substituting your own feelings and beliefs over what the Truth actually is. Whether or not you are saved is up to God, but it seems you've convinced yourself that your sin is not sin. I did that, too. Thank God I realized the truth.
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 this "natural" question is nonsense. It's found in nature (in many animal species by the way...) so it is natural. Killing is natural too, it's bad but it's natural because it's part of human nature, etc. So be careful, your speech doesn't add up. And ask yourself if you are not the one substituting your feelings and beliefs over what the Truth is. I'm doing it you know, and I've done it for a long time.
swai777 2 months ago

No it is the result of our fallenness - and the child should be healed if possible.
muel0341 2 months ago
@swai777 You're right, mortal sin is not the core. What is then? Faith and trust in God and obedience to his word. No one goes to hell for loving someone - people choose to go to hell because they confuse love with things that are not love. God created Man in his image. Male and Female he created them. The male completes the female, and the female the male. True love between men comes exclusively in the form of non-sequal intemacy, for the only healthy sex for a man is with a woman.
muel0341 2 months ago
@muel0341 yes but be careful about what is His word. Gospels are his word and yes, church people are supposed to be inspired by the holly spirit but they are not always...
And yes the male completes the female etc but that has nothing to do with homosexuality, like it has nothing to do with single people, monks and priests and nuns...
And again, sex is not only about procreation. This has been invented.
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 "Sex is not only about procreation" is true. It is BOTH unitive AND procreative. It cannot be just one or the other. Sex is not just for procreation. Sex is NOT just for showing love and unity with another person.
It is BOTH - if one of those two are purposefully shut off, then the sexual act is sinful. Homosexual acts are CLOSED to the possibility of procreation, and are therefore sinful.
Study the Catechism, if you are a faithful Catholic you MUST follow it! God Bless
drdst17 2 months ago
@muel0341 The next time you meet the wife of a homosexual man, try asking her if she feels complete. No! Don't really do that! You'll out her poor husband and open a can of worms. We are gay. Except for the bisexuals among us, we have no clue about marital love for the opposite sex, because WE AREN'T ATTRACTED. It's so SILLY to think that a gay man can genuinely "turn" straight! How do you do that? Vice versa is also ridiculous! Search for "Ex-Gay" and read/view the apologies.
Ray77063 1 month ago
@Ray77063 Ray, I have been doing this for a long time and I know all about the reviews your talking about and in my experience I have found them to be off the mark. There is some truth there, but as someone completely dedicated to Christ, I have to be willing to pursue Him, even into the absurdity of the cross - and I have been all the happier for it. Either I am dedicated to Christ, or I am dedicated to something else. As a catholic, I cannot simply resign myself to imperfection. I strive.
muel0341 1 month ago
@muel0341 I have to agree with you about the absurdity. I once tried to marry a young woman, my age at the time, for religious reasons. If I had continued in that sham marriage, I would sooo be cheating on her, right now(!), because I was always trying DESPERATELY to keep my eyes off the cute guys around us. Lucky for her, I let her go. She's fine, now. A nun advised me, "What's important is that you RESPECT her." Too late! Damage done! Not saying u would do it, but others here might.
Ray77063 1 month ago
@muel0341 I can't get over the tendency of religious people to think in terms of black and white. Either I'm dedicated to Christ or WHAT?! What do you mean by "something else"? That covers a lot of territory. I could be dedicated to world peace, a cure for cancer, an end to hunger and poverty. I could be dedicated to the teachings of the Buddha, the philosophy of the Dao, the elimination of religious bigotry. I cold be dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a pos. attitude...
Ray77063 1 month ago
@Ray77063 I love Jesus Christ. He has changed my life, He has bought peace where there was only pain. To live my life for anything else would be silly. Only Christ gives my heart peace. Only Christ gives eternal life. Nothing else will save me in Heaven or on Earth than Jesus Christ. Even straight men struggle with chastity - I am not an exception because I am homosexual - I must struggle for Chastity as Christ has called me, and in so doing I discover LOVE.
muel0341 1 month ago
@muel0341 Not everything is black and white. What would it be like to live in a world of black and white? Take confession, for instance. It would not exist, because, according to the Paul, the wages of sin is death. If confession were allowed, you would still have to confess publicly, because, private confession is a concession. You certainly wouldn't get a light penance! That's a concession from the Irish. Black and white is cut and dry. There's no wiggle room. Do you still want b&w?
Ray77063 1 month ago

Natasha1233211 4 months ago
People did not put the rules, God gave a law, and all morality comes from God, because we have thoughts for destroying and condemning ourselves. "Live happy, do what you want, have no regrets, enjoy life, enjoy your body, do not feel depress, worship creation, not the creator, God loves you, god does not despises you, etc.," This is called hedonism, and there's a place for this, many gays are suffering in hell the worst torments that not even people on earth can have or endure, no secs of rest
Natasha1233211 4 months ago

2358: "They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
2359: "Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection."
jlangfield19 5 months ago

NOT A SINGLE ONE :)
swai777 7 months ago 8
@swai777 Awesome statement. Being gay doesn't condemn us to hell, being UNCHASTE does. And all of us (gay or straight) are called to Chastity! It is very hard sometimes, but is rewarding in the end. Keep fighting, you are worth it!
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 I'm happy to tell you that "unchastity" doesn't condemn to hell. And you must first have to define "unchastity" (there is quite a difference between doing things with 4 different persons in one night in a bar and sharing affection with a boyfriend...) What condemns to hell is fully and willingly being separated from God and being intimate with someone you love can't possibly do that :)
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 You are partially correct here. Chastity basically means a lack of sexual relations with another person by preserving the purity of the body. You can "love" anyone you want - Jesus loves all of us and wants us to do the same! However, having sexual relations with someone of the same sex IS disordered and will destroy Chastity, no matter how well intentioned. You should read the Catechism or see a priest to make sure you are living a chaste life.
God Bless.
drdst17 2 months ago
@drdst17 as I said, it's easy to brag about being chaste when you don't like sex. I don't mean it's your case but no one is equal when it comes to this. Therefore, people who deprive themselves when they crave for it but sometimes do it anyway, deserve more a medal than the ones who hate it and never do it. All these dogmatic statements about sex are not inspired by the holly spirit but by ideologic views inherited from the 19th century.
swai777 2 months ago
@drdst17 Making a distinction between straight and gay sex doesn't make any sense. Like saying it's "not natural". Or a perversion, etc. It just is and it is natural and there is nothing wrong with it, maybe that's the reason why Jesus never talked about it :)
Don't think that, as a roman catholic, you MUST believe everything written in the Catechism, people who wrote it are flawed and they can make mistakes and some of them are quite obvious ;)
swai777 2 months ago
@swai777 There is also a difference between killing someone and bearing false witness against them - yet both are sins against the inherent dignity of that person and miss the mark that Jesus called us to when he commands us to love. I am sorry that having SSA is so hard and confusing - it is for me too, but I can tell you that the love of God is far greater and that love calls us either to celebate single life, or heterosexual marriage open to the birth of children and parenthood.
muel0341 2 months ago
@muel0341 If I could give you a million thumbs up, I would. Please continue to be a testimony to those struggling with SSA, because they need it. All of us struggle with chastity, SSA-inclined persons do so on a level that heterosexuals cannot even begin to comprehend. Remember to go to confession often - that's what helped me turn my life around!
drdst17 2 months ago
@muel0341 Don't be sorry about something you can't do anything about ;) And I am not confused. Of course, we live a difficult life, at the edge of moral standards, but I found peace in my heart and I'm proud of being gay and prouder of being catholic. This "SSA" expression seems to be reminiscent of the pseudo-christian views that make homosexuality a disease. I hope that is not what you believe. God bless you :)

imasexydog12 7 months ago
@imasexydog12 , being gay IS a choice. I don't mean to make you feel like you are in paradise by saying the following; a lot more people have "gay" feelings than those who "come out of the closet". It is a matter of self control and choice. How many people would really like to steal, kill, abandon their husband/wife/children, not go to school/work/doctor/hospital, have affairs outside marriage, etc. Should we? ..... humans are given something called "Conscience" to distinguish right from wrong.

CamramanidiotCIA 8 months ago
@anotherbottleofbeer its not a "disease" as you so wrongly put it, its completely natural just like Blue eyes or brown hair since it has been proved that Homosexuality is a defect within your Genes (dominant and passive genes etc.) Saying homosexuality is a disease is like saying Ginger people are diseased because they have red hair. (FYI, Ginger hair occurs because of a defect in the hair Genes)
bennie128 8 months ago
@sonicperson123 Using Leviticus to condemn homosexuality is against being Christian. Christians are not bound by the Laws of Moses. And the book of Leviticus lists the Laws of Moses such as the law not allowing homosexuality and not being able to eat pork. Those laws are only for Jewish people to follow. Colossians 2:14 "He(Jesus Christ) wiped out the written Law(Leviticus Laws) with its rules. The Law(Leviticus Laws) was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross."
YouHaveBeauty 7 months ago
@YouHaveBeauty That's rubbish! Jesus said that 'not one jot' of old testament law would be washed away. The new testament supports the old. And the central doctrine of the new testament-the doctrine of atonement, is one of the most immoral concepts imaginable. Punishing one person in order to forgive transgressions by others is a disgrace and not something to be admired at all! Am I wrong? I am a loving father. Would I punish one of my children for the crimes of others? I don't think so, do you?
boc1953 7 months ago
@boc1953 The Law is still there, we have it in our Bibles. But that doesn't mean we need to follow the Laws of Moses. It is clear that Jesus fulfilled the Law for which he nailed on the cross. I'm quoting the Colossians 2:14 from the Bible itself, the message isn't saying the law is destroyed and gone forever and we will never see it again, that's not the purpose, it means we are not bound to it anymore because Christ fulfilled it for us. He wiped it's burden away from US but NOT from existence.
YouHaveBeauty 7 months ago
@YouHaveBeauty Like I said, the doctrine of atonement is a true abomination for any moral normal thinking person. If you believe it is wrong to punish one person for the sin of another, then you are more moral than your god and deserving of more respect than he is. God had his son tortured and killed so that he could forgive us for sins he knew we would commit before he even created us (omniscient). Why not just forgive us? Or make us unable to think (ie. sin) in the first place? It's fantasy!
boc1953 7 months ago

YouHaveBeauty 7 months ago
@boc1953 An important thing to remember is that if you're going to follow one law in the Laws of Moses, you must follow ALL of them, Paul makes this clear. Many Christians today thoughtlessly quote others to follow Leviticus and its laws specifically on homosexuality, but when it comes to eating lobster, clams, pork, shaving beards, and wearing two-type clothed clothes, they are hypocritical in following them. The Laws of Moses is NOT a pick and choose set of rules. Following it means ALL of it
YouHaveBeauty 7 months ago
@YouHaveBeauty I couldn't agree more! I have had this exact discussion with numerous christians and they always try to claim their own interpretation of the phrases. It's always the same. Crazy!

@jeffandjoesports Then why do some Christians still use a line from Leviticus to say that homosexuality is a sin?
sonicperson123 3 months ago
@sonicperson123
Great question: The old testament still contains great moral guidelines, but the specific laws (e.g. the saabath is holy) are not relevant today. They were for the Israel times in the pre-Christ era.
If you want a New Testament passage concerning homosexuality, here goes: Romans 1:18-32. =)
