  • interviewer- "Do you think about that sometimes?"

cristinao ronaldo- "Yea i do, and now when i speak to younger kids i tell them to go as far as they can."

end of part 2 translation. once again, not mine. see beginning of translation for real translator. any corrections or additions are welcomed.

  • sometimes i bunked(??) off but i did go. I didn't pay any attention and i would always copy on tests. It was always a subject that i wrongly thought i was never going to need."

  • CR- "That swap to the continent changed everything. Football, friends- I'm not justifying it, it's just that when you have all that to think about, you don't worry about the rest as much. I would like to complete 12th grade (year 11) because it's an ambition that I have. English....well... I did go to class

  • Sporting didn't just offer football, it was also about discipline. Leonel was in charge of Ronaldo, not only in football but also at school.

Leonel- "He was an intelligent kid, he just didn't focus on work and studying. He was so determined with football, he liked it so much that school was just a pass time. He had more difficulties with english at the time."

  • i would phone home about 2/3 times a week, we would buy those cards worth 50 units and i would stand there talking to my family and seeing them going down and time running out. There are moments that I remember as if they were yesterday and they were very hard. I would cry almost everyday, but after some time i realised that I had my team mates backing along with all the coaches and things got better."

  • Even the people, the stress- it was all completely different. I remember that there were very hard times, living with people i didn't know, 20 odd athletes all older than me. I was the youngest, me and my friend Fabio. The first few months I would always cry, me and my friend.

  • A new life was about to begin for Cristiano in the academy. Living with all the other lads would be something very new for him.

"When i got to Lisbon, it was like a new language. I spoke Maderirense... I still do sometimes with my family. i arrived with that accent (notice he doesnt say it in portuguese? he says it in english).

  • August came and so did the time for Cristiano Ronaldo to say goodbye to madeira, his family, and his friends.

Cristiano Ronaldo- "I remember saying bye to my sisters and my mum. It was very sad, and they were all crying but that's the way it had to be. When I was in the plane and it took off I saw the image of them all and started to cry. But it's a normal thing. I grew up with them and then, i wouldn't say abandon, but i left them for a while. Those were very hard times."

  • It was the reports and the note that made it certain that he would go back to sporting.

on the paper: "Although it seems ludicrous to pay so much for such a young boy, he has great talent and he will be a very good investment. He showed high quality in the tests inspected by the coaches. 28/6/97."

So it was decided that Cristiano Ronaldo would go back to the continent in the new season.

  • Simoes de Almeida: "I thought it was a bit strange having to pay for an 12 year old but because i was assured that he was worth it and that he would turn out to be a brilliant player well..."

Ayrelio: "Sporting has never paid so much for anything like how they paid for him."

  • Poulo Cardoso:" the training session was just a game, and at the very start the ball comes to his feet and he gets the ball and dodges 3 other lads. I looked at the others and we all knew there was something special about him. After the match, all the paper work was done and we knew we wanted him."

Aurelio:" It was down to me and Paulo to do the report and convince the admin. that he was worthwhile."

  • CR cont.- "I remember that i didn't even sleep properly on the night before i went, because it was going to be my first time on a plane. So I went with my mum- very nervous, very small, and very skinny. It was a very good experience. I was confident that i could do it when I got there and that i would give it my best and that i would get in."

  • Cristiano Ronaldo- "I remember feeling confident and thinking I'm going for trials at Sporting. how cool."

  • It was 1997, Ronaldo had just turned 12 and it was decided that on his Easter holiday he would go to sporting for a trial.

  • "We got him a ticket and took him to Lisbon"

Dolores: "At the time, Benfica wanted him as well, but i said if he goes, he goes to sporting. i don't want him in benfica. Because it's (sporting?) my club! so i said to them he's going to be a champion with sporting later on."

  • Dolores:" when he passed the ball and his friend didn't score he would cry, he got wound up very easily. They would call him cry baby and also bee, because no one could stop him on the pitch."

National was soon not enough for all his talent. His godfather Fernao decided that the continent was better for his talents. He soon came up with a strategy: National was in debt to sporting, so he would send them Cristiano and the debt would be paid off.

  • Dolores: "He was very skinny and I would tell my husband: if he plays with older boys they could stand on his shin and break his leg. He would reply, no, because he can run fast, so he runs from them and they can't get him."

At the age of 11 everyone was baffled as Cristiano ronaldo became a phenomenon in Madeira and because of his play he got his first nickname.

  • Please add the translations like in the last ones!!

  • He also talks about how difficult it was to be accepted due to his accent typical of the island of Madeira and that he often cried because he missed his family. With time, he felt a lot of support from the Club and the technical responsible for him. Close to the 9th minute he talks about his lack of dedication to studding, especially English (which, LOL he thought he never would need).

  • oh pls translate what cris says 5.50

  • he talks about the emotions that he felt when he had to leave his family in Madeira to go Continental Portugal.

  • Desde já muito agradecida!!

  • Please, can someone tell me, what they say about Cristiano?

  • What do you need to know. I can't translate all for you. Tell me what period of the video U'R interested in.

  • Im very interested in the periods when he talks!

But if its tooo hard work, no problem!! But i would be sooo happy if you could tell me something what he says.

  • This piece basically talks bout the strategies adopted to get him to play in Sporting Club. The club forgave a large depth that Maritimo owned them in exchange of Ronaldo. This was an unprecedented amount of money paid for a 12 year old boy, due to the exceptional characteristics showed by little Ronaldo.

In the minute 5:30 he talks about the emotions that he felt when he had to leave his family in Madeira to go Continental Portugal.

  • He talks about his interest of finishing his high school studies (12th grade) one day and that his perspective over education has changed with time (he advises other kids that want to have a career in soccer not to leave their education behind). His friend at the end explains that despite the fact that Cristiano was not the greatest student his will to help others lead him to give tutoring lessons to other children in the club (he has always had a great heart and is a giving person).

  • Thank you sooooo much!!!

  • thank u 4 the translation:) ;*

  • search for the english version of the documentary. its on youtube somewhere.

  • What a fucking strategy.. he was benfica's fan..but that strategy nacional/sporting... blow away the chances to go to benfica..:(

  • grest :D

  • Obrigado!!!

  • thanks al lot. are you gonna upload the next parts as well??

  • thank you!! looking ofrward to the reast! ;)

  • Thank you!
