  • This is one of the best concepts and has one of the best applications.. if you half the radius of the earth keeping the mass same, it will rotate at 4 times the speed!

that would also make such a MASSIVE effect on time!!!

  • hahahaha

  • black magic? lol

  • LOL ... physics students being flung to the ground ... that was funny =P

  • How childish!

  • @aulshuwaier What's childish about showing how angular momentum works. This the same action that allows figure skaters to spin faster when they pull their arms close to their body or above their heads. It think it was a great experiment showing this effect.

  • Hahaha... You made my day. I was just studying the same thing. AWESOME demonstration!

  • there is always one who can't handle it, is that conservation of the law?

  • @MattBlytheTheOne the one who can't handle it is always the last one to react: when the other 3 are near the center speed increases, so the force is higher for the last one to move to the center.

  • very well done.

  • ok meta apo ayto katalava ti simainei stroformi, na se petaei pros ta exw to gyrw gyrw xaxaxax

  • Physics is awesome!!

  • Fail, I is always constant because of conservation of angular momentum, w increases from v=rw.

  • L=I*w

"I" IS NOT constant. It changes because you change the radius from the middle to your body. If "I" is lower and "L" has ALWAYS to be constant it will result in a reduce of speed (w is reduced)

  • whopps sorry its not reduced you will speed up ;)

  • You've got that the wrong way round - w will increase.

  • man i gotta find me one of these and try this ahahahah

  • Angular momentum of a symmetric body rotating about its centre of mass axis = I x W. "I" being the "moment of inertia" and "w" its "angular" speed. When the students lean forward the "I" decreases thus, due to the COVSERVATION OF ANGULAR MOMENTUM, its angular speed "w" must increase, making them rotate/spin faster. BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • THANK YOU !!! :)

  • @independence8 :that statement is truley amazing and beautiful

  • @independence8 :i just want to know is that statement absolutely correct

  • @independence8 sounds like you have no deep understanding of physics

you say because a law exists, an observed variable has to change to fit the law. it's like you memorize equations and completely miss the fundamentals

  • @yesturtle errrrrr...then again i do have a degree in physics.....what i said is correct...unless u want to correct me?

  • ive done that on a office chair its really fun
