it's great to have it confirmed from Roger in person, based on his fluid style I always suspected that Roger first learnd the game with big sponge balls on a small court so that the game is more similar to the real thing right from the start also for small kids and they can swing through the ball and verticalize (and in their brains greas them neuron axons with myelin based on that=talent) instead of just push the ball constantly above shoulder height over a net that is almost higher than them.
