the second release for Grimlock is the best to my taste just 'cause of the box art is reminiscent to the comic cover and the dark gold color to his body.

@jzuestylez Are you kidding? It's the stupid repaint to end all stupid repaints. Grimlock was only coloured that way in the comics because Marvel's US colouring department sucked ass. Or at least the colorists assigned to Transformers did. My first grade class could have done a better job colouring the comics.

@rodster6 Well, he fits with the Seekers sort of. Also, big Grimlock figure, about the size of the larger Leader class figures, maybe a bit bigger. He's nicely designed, well articulated, looks like our Dinobot friend better than the Classics figure, which is a larger version of his Pretender body that never appeared anywhere.

Plus, Giant Robot Tyrannosaurus Rex that turns into a robot.

Nice figure, the only thing that doesn`t necessary hate but I would change for a future release is the paint applicaton which I consider too dark, I rather prefer a more clear blue like the original cartoon, but anyway Thundercracker MP is really a big deal moreover is OOP.

Great detailed review. In my opinion, the only problems with the figure are the fact that he can't look down in dino mode, the light in the hand is really weak(I'd prefer a painted sword, or the orange plastic they used for King Grimlock) and the Autobot symbol on mine doesn't seem to come up all the way. The very bottom is cut off. I wonder how common that problem is?

As for scale, I try not to think about it to much. It's Transformers. They can change their size at will it would seem. :o

Just watched your review. When transforming to robot there is a wedge on his back for the dino head. Just below that is a tab (under where his snout would rest) that can be flipped out. It's not in the instructions but it does add extra (not much) space for the head to tab better in to the back. In retrospect that tab may be to short for a snug fit (Q.Con.) so wether it's used or not wont matter. The joint-hinge in back of the neck holds it in place for the most part

For the record, the Japanese MP-08x that comes with the crown is colored very differently. The grey is the same silver color from Masterpiece Megatron, the gold is more an metallic orange/bronze, and all the black parts are dark blue. It's intended to represent Marvel comics Grimlock instead of Sunbow toon Grimlock. That's why one includes the accessories changed as well, comic crown for comic colors, toon apron for toon colors.

The comic version was a store exclusive. Do some research.

@ersico The autobot symbol didnt appear at all on mine when i first did it.I found a little lever that has to be pushed just right when you are bringing the chest up.Kind of odd but it is also kind of cool to have the option to have him with or without the symbol.It fits grimlocks view of being an autobot.even if that was not hasbros intention.

Honestly, I wonder if the only differences between the Japanese release and the American release are cosmetic. I might be completely wrong, but I actually be differences in the manufacturing and plastic quality, possibly even the removal of die-cast parts?
