1. His economic plan is actually to tax the wealthy CEOs of massive corporations like Microsoft and Walmart.

And the taxes just shifted from rich corporations to individuals by about the same amount-17%.

Though I respectfully disagree I must make these key points:
1. His economic plan is actually to tax the wealthy CEOs of massive corporations like Microsoft and Walmart.
2.I agree that small businesses make up "the backbne of the economy". Companies like Walmart (again) drive out small, local competition like small town butchers and grocery stores.
3.Increasing the supply of oil will not soolve our energy problem.

Well you're wrong here. He would tax people making over 250K and that then excludes 96% of most Americans AND small businesses. And Reagan's "trickle down economics," which insists on not taxing the wealthy, hasn't been proven to work for anyone other than the wealthy. The national debt increased during his Presidency so much that his succesor had to raise taxes to keep the gov't going. And the taxes just shifted from rich corporations to individuals by about the same amount-17%.

gmc, those numbers you cite sound appropriate because-and this is what seems to confuse lots of folks-ANY TIME there's a tax cut, those who pay the MOST in taxes will get the MOST benefits. It only makes sense, though, does it not? The top 5% of wage earners pays 53.25% of the taxes in the US-more than 10 times what the bottom 50% of wage earners pay. Why would people who pay little or no taxes get any kind of a tax break? They ain't paying much, if at anything, in taxes in the first place.

Thing is, it doesn't mean as much to them because they have millions more. Say, $10,000, that would be food for years for some people, but mere pocket change for others.
And of course they're not paying as much, because they don't have as much. The problem lies when you try to take money from people who don't have much, in order to support those who already have money, just to keep economic growth up.

The upper wage-earners in this country pay TEN TIMES MORE than others in taxes. So when people like Obama say that the current tax scheme 'isn't fair,' my question is - 'so...you want them to pay 100 times more in taxes than 10 times more?' Keep in mind that the more the rich are taxed, the less likely they are to expand their businesses, hire people, etc.

I'm not sure I buy your 70% stat-who is telling you that the 70% of federal services are going to the top 5% richest Americans? That sounds like something from a left-wing blog, and not an authoritative source. Unless perhaps you're counting social security payments upon retirement, which is a benefit that should be for anyone who has paid into it, rich or poor.

There's no way to really increase oil supply without drilling offshore.
So, it makes logical sense to drill offshore right, which I am sure is the 'plan' you are talking about Obama not having.

However, drilling offshore doesn't help us for a LONG time.
Because having the lease to build an oil rig and actually building the rig is a completely different thing.
It would take 8 or 10 years for us to see offshore oil so it wouldn't help us at all.

9/11 was a horrible atrocity- the worst thing to EVER happen to America. George Bush was 100% right when he invaded Iraq in 2002. Also after the undeniable success of Saddam Hussein's capture when Bush wanted to help the Iraqi gov. train soldiers to combat radical Islamic terrorists. He was the perfect man for the job at the time. Bush has been withdrawing troops this month FROM Iraq and DEPLOYING them to Afghanistan. McCain on the other hand should not prolong this war indefinitely.

Actually, he did imply time and again that Saddam was responsible for 9/11. Cheney outright said it. And 9/11 was their justification for attacking Iraq. And those WMDs they supposedly had. The WMDs that the head weapons inspector said that they didn't and they could prove in a short time w/just a little more time. That scientists said was false about the aluminium tubes and that the yellow cake was proven to be false as well. But that didn't stop Dubya from claiming otherwise and attacking.

I stand by what I have been saying. The Iraq war was uneccesry. Our attention should have been placed on countries that actually posed a threat to our country. While we have been fighting a pointless war in Iraq, violence has escalated in Afghanistan and the master mind behind the 9/11 attack(Osama Bin Laden not Saddam Hussien) is still at large.
All those lives were sacrificed and we are NO SAFER than we were on September 11th 2001.

There are ACRES of oil fiels that the oil companies are not drilling. Why should we destroy our natural habitats if there is still more oil availible in current refineries?
Even if we did start digging of shore we wouldnt see a decrease in oil prices for YEARS.

Not true. If there was oil to be had, the oil companies would be drilling for it. Simply having a lease on a field doesn't mean that tests will indicate oil exists underground.
We've see two straight days of price drops for barrels of oil simply when president Bush TALKED about the US finally working toward independence from foreign oil. Speculators play a large role in the price of oil, and the more they're convinced we're going to start importing LESS, the larger the drop in the price of oil.

Really? What wars has HE ,John McCain, EVER won?. He's not and has never been a military commander, he's no longer a soldier and he has never been president.The only war John McCain was ever involved with was the Vietnam war and last time I checked we lost that war.

lol Obama's plans are to retreat completely from Iraq and move all the troops to Afghanistan, while McCain's plan is to repeat the success of the surge in Iraq in Afghanistan, the surge which your oh-so-sincere candidate denied was effective to the very last moment until he had no choice to admit the truth. Pandering to the far-left crackpots of course.
And I doubt Obama has any plans at all he can call his own. He copied his plan for Afghanistan from the secretary of defense lol

No, we have plenty more troops to send to Afghanistan without getting out of Iraq, which will be an extremely stupid thing to do right now, especially when we finally have control over the situation. Having US bases in the heart of Iraq is an important strategical advantage, especially with the war mongers in Iran. Plus we should make the Iraqi pay us back our expenses for liberating their sorry asses with their HUGE oil reserves.

No we dont have lots of more troops to send to Afghanistan , in that case they would have already been there. Only one brigade is avvailable,and we cant send them in. We have strategical advantage over Iran anyway, considering that Afghanistan is also a neighouring country:)...Iraq never asked us to be "libarated" (giving them the ruling under islamic law), so no they will not give us their oil,

Yes, you're right about the troops, my bad. Redeploying a portion of the 150,000 troops currently in Iraq to Afghanistan will be a good idea, but definitely not all of them. We don't need an additional 150,000 troops in Afghanistan anyway, the talks are only about 2-3 more brigades.
And whether they asked us to liberate them or not is no longer relevant. If they won't give us the oil we should take it and they can go fuck themselves. The war isn't going to pay for itself.
