I owned a Z-24 2003, very fun car, crap interior, and exterior though. Its a shame Chevy can't improve the quality of their vehicles, the engines seem to last FOREVER.

I was looking at the nurburgring lap times and see the 2007 Supercharged one posted a time of nearly 8:22 which is ahead of the Lotus Exige S and a Caymen S. How the hell is that possible? I know its driver dependant but it would have to be some aweful drivers in those other cars no?

I drove a 2002 Trans Am WS6 (aka F-body) for 4 years and now own an 09 Cobalt SS Sedan. The TA is quicker and faster for sure, its just damn fast, and contrary to popular opinion, it corners quite well. But the Cobalt handling is not only better, its much easier (not scary) to push to its limits and handles rough roads better.
The only reason that this car "goes" as well as it does is because GM bought SAAB, borrowed all of their engine technology, and then tried to throw them in the trash. Thank god Spyker was able to sweet talk those morons into selling.
General Motors just announced that it is recalling 1.3 million cars because the steering may fail while you're driving. The recall affects the 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Honda Si Honda hatch Honda Nsx ACura Nsx so many nice four cylinders all capable of different levels of racing for different types of racing. It's great to be different I prefer american muscle, but I would love to have an import for track day at a circuit. Given that is not all the four cylinders I was just naming a few. of the Many. even ford makes great four cylinders as well.
@crazybackflips I had an '03 civic DX, it got about 40-42 mpg, handled like shit and probly ran about a 17 second 1/4 mile. 32-35 mpg in the cobalt and it can run high 13's with a good driver and is one of the best handling cars in the world. It's really not bad mileage for the performance you get.
Great car, great example of why American car companies suck. You could not buy this with leather. They'll sell you leather in the Pontiac G8 with tiny windows they call a Camaro though.

i had a supercharged cobalt but traded it for a turbocharged one way better my friend has a s/c. we race first to 160 kph by the time i was a 160 my friend with the s/c was about 5 or so car lengths behind and my car isnt even full broken in only 1600 km

I think the outside is fine, very coupe-ish. Looks awsome lowers, nice wedge shape. But the inside, while ok from a distance is blah. My buddy has a late model r32 and the inside is nice as hell. I cant complain for $20,000 though.

the mazda 3 has a nicer interior, with mnore passenger space and better resale value. the cobalt is faster in a straight line, around a turn, brakes harder, handles better, has no-lift-shifting, makes more mod-for-mod power, better fuel economy, and has a powerband that doesnt drop off after 5500 rpms... not to mention it comes as a coupe and sedan, rather than just a hatchback
I love my mazdaspeed 3 though And at the time I got it, it was the best bang for your buck. even now I think it is a lot better for those who just want a car they can go fast in every here and there. The cobalt ss is better if you want to race a sport compact all the time. And the biggest dissappointment about the MS3 is the Aftermarket. Thats the only thing that the old cobalt ss and SRT 4s had on it. But it is still better than everything else in the sport compact. Got that title for 3 years!

the new gm performance cars have very well tuned suspension, i believe it... with 110+ trap speeds. the straights certainly helped it out to get that time. very respectable for a big car.

I've driven both cars and with the Camaro SS you can feel a big power difference. The Camaro SS is heavy, that's it's only downside. But the Cobalt SS is a wonderful car for the money. Very fast acceleration and nimble on its feet.

Im saying that chevys and american cars suck. And the only people that drives chevys are niggers and white people and jews and asians and i hate all of them after i watched the movie passion of the christ. i drive a Ford Accord 5cyl and it accelerats better than any other car. It can beat semi trucks, dumptrucks, cement trucks, Ice cream trucks....pretty much ever single truck will be defeated in a drag race.

2- Ford Accord? The Accord is a model from Honda. And, the Accord never had a 5-cyl. engine, only a 4 or 6 cyl.

i had a supercharged cobalt but traded it for a turbocharged one way better my friend has a s/c. we race first to 160 kph by the time i was a 160 my friend with the s/c was about 5 or so car lengths behind and my car isnt even full broken in only 1600 km

Yes, starting in 08, the Cobalt SS came ONLY with Turbo...no more superchargers. The Turbo takes HP and Torque to 260.

Hey mustangmikeca, Next time you want to bash on a car, make sure your fucking facts are correct. MotorTrend and Road&Track BOTH have the Mazda 3's 0-60 as 5.7 seconds and 1/4 mile as 14.1seconds. 13.8 seconds is its 0-100 you fucking idiot. Where as the Cobalt SS Turbo has a 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 13.9 seconds, and a 0-100 in 12.8, so if you knew a little math you could tell that the Cobalt SS is faster than the Mazda 3. Idiot.

I think the outside is fine, very coupe-ish. Looks awsome lowers, nice wedge shape. But the inside, while ok from a distance is blah. My buddy has a late model r32 and the inside is nice as hell. I cant complain for $20,000 though.

Cobalt SS T/C is astounding for it's class. Any "eco" car that's as fast as a E46 M3 around a GERMAN race track is okay in my book, good job GM, keep up the fantastic work!

the mazda 3 has a nicer interior, with mnore passenger space and better resale value. the cobalt is faster in a straight line, around a turn, brakes harder, handles better, has no-lift-shifting, makes more mod-for-mod power, better fuel economy, and has a powerband that doesnt drop off after 5500 rpms... not to mention it comes as a coupe and sedan, rather than just a hatchback

I love my mazdaspeed 3 though And at the time I got it, it was the best bang for your buck. even now I think it is a lot better for those who just want a car they can go fast in every here and there. The cobalt ss is better if you want to race a sport compact all the time. And the biggest dissappointment about the MS3 is the Aftermarket. Thats the only thing that the old cobalt ss and SRT 4s had on it. But it is still better than everything else in the sport compact. Got that title for 3 years!

the new gm performance cars have very well tuned suspension, i believe it... with 110+ trap speeds. the straights certainly helped it out to get that time. very respectable for a big car.

I've driven both cars and with the Camaro SS you can feel a big power difference. The Camaro SS is heavy, that's it's only downside. But the Cobalt SS is a wonderful car for the money. Very fast acceleration and nimble on its feet.
