Caldwell Esselstyn, who I mention in my previous comment, basically recommends; no added fat, no overt fat, no animal foods and eating only whole plant based food such as those you described. I have his book 'Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease'. It could just as well be called 'Prevent and reverse most chronic health conditions'. Check him out. I think you'll find that approach helpful.

I'm very interested in hearing how you get on.

    Stuart :-)

  • @GirliqueDownUnder

I'm not a doctor, but this is what I understand.

No diet is a 'cure' for type 1 diabetes, but I've heard that sometimes insulin may be reduced when improving what we eat.

Any fat foods eaten in the previous few days can cause blood sugar spikes once you start eating easy to digest carb's. The fat reduces the effectiveness of insulin.

I suspect that something like the Caldwell Esselstyn diet (without fruit) may be better for you initially, then after a few wks try fruit.

  • Dude you're INSANE but cool. How much stuff gets wasted?

  • @Sharazapam

I waste very little food, usually none at all.

This insane diet pulled me out of chronic fatigue, IBS & depression! I now also eat cooked low fat whole food, mainly due to the ridiculous price of fruit.

When I start adding back what most other people eat (fat spices refined/processed food etc) then foggy head and fatigue start creeping back in.

I have a choice, be 'extreme/insane and fit & healthy or, one of the crowd and sick and depressed!

It beats doctors & popping pills!

  • there is a problem...all this stuff is mostly sugary...

  • @troecurov

I feel great when I stick to eating this way. Yes, there is 'sugar' in the food. My body can readily absorb it without having to expend too much energy to break it down before being able to use the calories. There is plenty of fibre, so it is not at all like eating neat sugar. There are also plenty of nutrients with every mouthful.

No matter what you eat your body has to convert it to 'sugar' in order to use it. It's much much easier on the body eating a high fruit low fat diet.

  • man im so jelouse of all the amazing fruit and veg in your kitchen!! i have tried going Low Fat Raw Vgan a few times.. and i know how amazing it makes you feel.. but its soooooo expensive and time consuming, its hard to keep up.. well done you - keep flying with energy!!

  • I have been watching a lot of vegan fridge videos today and yours is the only one that is actually healthy. None of that processed crap. Love it!

  • @DemeterSearches

You can be a vegan and eat chocolate bars, french fries and even be an alcoholic or high as a kite on caffeine. I do this super healthy diet purely for health reasons, because I was very burned out with fatigue and other health issues. I'm not 100% vegan, but I'm but not far off it. It's a result of my search for health and subsequent personal experiments took me down this path.

  • You've encouraged me to try it out. Thanks!

  • WOW!

  • That is one big ass "lunch box"..... I love fruit, just hate that the calories aren't concentrated enough for us skinny guys. We wanna be healthty too! (without dropping too much weight)

  • @hellspawnds

If you can't eat all that fruit but want the health benefits and you want to consume more calories to keep the weight on, then add in to your diet cooked complex carb's like brown rice, whole grain lentils, jacket or steamed potatoes. Don't add any fat, salt, sugar or spices, just eat it plain and simple. You can still feel fantastic this way and you'll get almost all the benefits of the low fat 'raw vegan' lifestyle.

  • @eatmoreraw

Hm yeah, maybe I'll try that with some organic quinoa. It's supposedly less acidic than rice, and has more protein! Still a little dry and boring with no sauce or spices though, but what the heck

  • Happy Christmas and happy New year Stuart

  • @Catherine8raw

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

  • I have alot of respect for you Stuart, you seem a freindly kind optimistic person. It would be an ideal diet if you were in hot weathers all year around. I also realise that we all have unique requirements. In those that are vulnerable fruit can lift the tryglycerides to high, not be good for diabetics or cancers because the sugars feeds fungus, and can encourage a fatty liver. A green veggie diet seems to help diabetics/cancers, esp. barley grass mixes. Fruit/veggies = decreases obesity.

  • fruits and vegetables are actually harder to digest since we lack the necessary enzymes. that's why you can swallow meat whole but you need to chew greens really well.

  • @renano95

It's funny that if I eat meat then it makes me fart for a couple of weeks. It leaves behind a residual slime that putrefies and causes body odour and gas. Even 'low fat' meat has a lot of fat in it. This makes my skin greasy and my acne come back. Meat has lots of hormones and toxins coming from the animal. Meat may have helped me to survive, but fruit (on a low fat diet) helps me to thrive! Checkout my other videos, website and blog out to see what I mean.

  • how much celery do u eat?

  • @theusedjosh

I eat typically 4 or 5 bunches of celery a week. Some days I eat none, others I might each one bunch, sometimes I'll eat two - whatever I fancy really. I love celery juice, I will buy more if I'm juicing celery. I also eat lots of other salad greens too.

  • @eatmoreraw awsome:) im going on a cruise, where im gunna try as hard as i can to stay raw, but i have a feeling i will be eat a few cooked vegan meals. but when i get back im gunna try the low fat raw diet, from ur website:)

  • @theusedjosh

My Mam and Dad went on a cruise. On their trip they could eat as much of anything as they liked. My Dad said that there was absolutely stacks of lovely fruit and health food available. I probably would find it difficult not to try some of the other food though! When you get back consider doing my '1 month high energy experiment on my website'. See also my salad and winter greens videos. Have a fantastic trip! Kind regards, Stuart.

  • @Avrilxxxmac

Hi Avril. Yes I agree about the fridge thing. It's mainly to help things last longer. I really prefer all my food and drinks at room temperature. I find that food tastes so much better that way. It also better on the digestion.

  • I am very happy for you. I personally could not handle all the sugar of the fruit. I do not know if this would change if I stayed off all fats for a good while. I know that my insulin resistance should go on a zero fat diet, according to studies. There is a book called "self healing colitis and crohns by David Klein. I have not got this condition but I read alsorts about diets/health. I think it is important to stop eating obese animals, whether this means no meat or grass fed meats.

  • @Catherine8raw no-fat diets are not good. your body is used to turn fat into, well, human fat. if you dont eat fat then your body becomes really good at turning glucose into fatty acids and you might actually gain weight

  • @renano95

I have never seen anyone anyone over weight who is on a long term low fat raw vegan diet that eats huge amounts of fruit. Not one! I can understand the theory, but the results are what matters to me. When I see people doing this properly. Pretty ladies turn into hot babes. Fat guys turn into lean hunks (as long as they exercise). The body carries no more or less than it needs to.

  • I do enjoy your sites and your posts in the rawfooduk forum! Donata

  • @Teociry

    Hi Donata,

Thank you. I really appreciate your encouragement. Stuart :-)

  • thanks, great video!

  • A good video but I can't see myself lugging that around this is why I fell off the raw diet within a couple of days. I don't think we have those melons available for more than a month or two in the states. Even then they are still hard to find. Love the carefree arrangement in the kitchen!

  • such a joyful person. enJOYed watching this

    you have a good vibe

thanks for the vid it helped me since im traveling tomorrow & new to the lfrv lifestyle

  • @snwbordface

    Thanks :-)

... although some might argue that I'm not always joyful, ... usually coinciding when I cheat on my diet! All the more reason to stick with it!! :-)

The biggest joy robber that I know of is, a) too much fat in the diet and, b) too much hard to digest food, either cooked or raw, eg heavy greens not blended.

  • wow sometimes I will eat like 7 bananas for breakfast and feel like I have consumed to many, but after seeing how many you eat I don't feel that way anymore. If I could down that much food I would, but I get a bad stomach ache!! But thanks for the vid!!! PeaceLove&Raw!

  • keep up the good work stu

  • @sealsearcher Thanks! :-)

  • Hey Stuart, that's some good stuff you got there! My dad went went raw vegan years ago and he's always saying he's never felt so lively and energetic!

  • Great vid. I love how you pronounce melons. :)

  • @AdamkTest

I have a mild Yorkshire accent. Us northerners speak quite differently to the southerners!
