Im a freshman going out for Honor Jazz Band and my Director gave me this for Bari Sax... Hearing this makes me nervous because ill probably ruin this amazing piece.
Ok i honestly cannot get an answer out of anyone, hopefully theres some big fan reading that can help me. Thisdoesn't sound like a mambo tome, and ive been listening to the original moanin by mingus for ages, ive heard about a mambo version and so thats why i got onto this, howeveer the style is the exact same s the original (just plain, Moanin', by mingus) has this guy posted the wrong title or am i just a fool who can't pivck out a mambo?
It is an arrangement composition that makes it what it is, I love what they did, the name does not make the song, it is the writer arranger, that does...!

As glorious as this is, and believe me, I've had it on repeat for far too long, is that a couple of beats we lose at 0'39ish? The band recovers like the pro group it is, but it just seems a little out of character.
@Benedict101 ya, but they're just fucking around with the time on purpose. playing as drunkenly and loose and swangin as possible. they're basically just taking a big shit on the time signature.
