Rotary engine... 3 chambers per housing. Intake, Compression(power),Exhaust. How the Fuck is the engine suppost to have 3 power chambers per rotor.1power(stroke in piston engine terms) per housing/rotor. 650cc measures the power chamber on each housing sames measuring the 1 power stroke in a 4 stroke piston engine

rotors are powerfull engines 4 their size but highly strung when running big boost,be prepared to rebuild eng.every 2-3 years when using on street, & strip I use 2 have 1.now have v8 4 3.5 years no problems,still it was fun, if expensive! cheers.

people bag rotors over v8,s if thay built a 6 ltr rotor or somthing the same size as a v8 a piston v8 would have no chance its a simple fact a single rotor has 3 points of detination per revalution where a piston engine has 1 point of detanaition every second revalution of the engine, you do the math

Don't you mean 1 point of ignition for every FOUR revolutions. Plus you are referring to piston vs rotor. Rotor has 1x revolution of crank for one ignition, piston has 4x revolution of crank for for 1x ignition. 1x rotation of rotor = 3x rotation of crank = 3x ignition. 1x ignition of piston = 4x rotations of crank. In a rotor the crank (eccentric shaft) spins 3x for 1x rotation of rotor.

@blyndrotor no i dont think so could be wrong as im drunk at the moment ,lol, but a piston motor sucks in air and fuel on down stroke then on up stroke compresion and ignition at top dead center then goes down stroke under force of ingnition then upon upstroke pushes out burnt gas. then it starts all over again. so that is 2 revolutions of the crank. as for a rotor engine yes 1 ignition per chamber per rotation, but all 3 chambers will each have a turn of ignition from 1 rotation.

Glad to see you changed from detonation to ignition as detonation is a really bad thing as I'm sure you know.

Appearance wise I'm more partial to the RX4 but the RX3 is lighter.

I have an FC RX7 myself but she's only a street car and even then it's only a w/end warrior. About 300hp atw (built by RotorMaster) but hard to afford to run with a mortgage and a bub due in Dec.

The wife like's it though. In small doses LOL.

Have you considered an R100. Really light. Hard to find a 3,4 or 100 in good nick though. Where are you located?

If you do get your hands on one and you are looking for a shop, shop around.

My engine was built by RotorMaster and I will admit that it is a really good strong motor.

Started straight up (within the first 10 or so turns of the engine) after being garaged for nearly 2yrs. I was suprised to say the least.

BUT, after plenty of prep to get ready to start I found that they had built the engine to run on pre-mix and I wasn't told. put nearly a 1000ks before I found out about that one.

Plus they had left the linkage at the OMP in place but disconnected from the throttle linkage.

To say I was pissed is an understatment. Don't get me wrong it is a good, strong, powerfull motor but after paying $5500 (full rebuild) I was really disappointed. Not to mention an electrical issue (charging) which occured AFTER the build when i picked it up. Just made the 700ks home & had to jump & roll start every time.

@juslookinatyas Go look at the budget this rx spent going into the 7s. Its going to be close to the same as the budget it takes to make a 6/7 sec v8.And, most of the huge displacement(read over 500ci) is n/a cars. The boosted cars can make that power off of 400ci.

I am from Puerto Rico and I have been building rotaries since 1977. As you all may know we have done a lot of record breaking and been at it feels like forever, but I CAN TELL YOU this car is just sick, and the driver is a very good a it too. He should teach a lot of drivers I have seen from Australia and others that dont really know how to get most horsepower out of a highly modify rotary engine...pedal to the metal for the HOLE!!!DARN IT!
