Sorry. x3 I have a little bit of a bias. I haven't heard a viola solo before this one so I got really happy. I was beginning to think that they didn't exist. But then, I've never looked on youtube for a good viola solo before. Violins are pretty too, I just don't like the fact that they almost always get the melody. But you're right, both instruments have beautiful sound.

A few things:

1. This is a Great music and I am so happy it is arranged for the viola. the viola, in my opinion, has a very earthy sound and very very beautiful and I think that this is perfect for it!!

2. I really wished you played the movements in order!!!! It may be different from the actual piece but still...

3. You had a little intonation problems when you got up to the higher register, But thats ok...

I've only been practicing the viola for two years, so I'm not as great at playing it, but I love the way the viola sounds. I'm really happy I chose it, and this video just made me happier to have chosen it.

It is certainly a nice try but I am slightly bewildered nobody above had realized the army of notes out of tune. It is rather disillusioning. Also, I believe pieces like these ought to be learnt by memory so MUCH more attention could be payed to artistic aspects.I find this as a decent schoolgirlish performance somewhere mid-collage. She has a long way to go but definitely is talented.

I totally agree with the whole"contributing to the Viola's solo repertoire." thing. Iv been playing the viola for 5 yrs. I know what you mean when you say your jealous of the violins. Its true when playing in an orchestra the violins always get the melody and the violas get the harmony. It gets so annoying after a while. I also agree that the G string sounds the nicest. I think it does too.

I absolutely adore her playing. I play cello and I've always admired the viola, because it has a nice lovely balance low/high ranges and a particularly pleasent mid range. It's unfortunate that more people don't realize this, especially composers.

The violin is usually smaller than the viola, and the violin has a higher e-string (the viola has a lower c-string). So the viola produces a lower pitched sound.
