thanks for the review!!!...this was really helpful... but i heard that the windows 7 starter is full of sh*t....would be better to just uprade to the home premium (:
ive got a hp desktop....lol, just wondering if its worth 1040 dollars with 4 gigs of ram, 1024mb dedicated graphics card, 720gigs hdd and 22" screen...
I have to wonder why all the YouTube reviews I've seen on this model omit one of the greatest features of this unit; The internet anywhere by way of it's Expresscard Port. Plug one in and get internet anywhere a cell phone will work, not just "hot spots". I have the 1.6GHz model on order...
so much banter about small trackpads, can you figure out a way to put a bigger trackpad on it? you want a mini notebook but you want everything to be full sized, that doesnt make sense.
by the way, the 2133 comes with xp, and many games work well on it
HP Mini Note is much better, higher resolution screen, and more card expansion options. The only shortcoming is not having the 3rd USB port, no biggy, just add an express card USB expansion card. HD audio is simply awesome in such a small device.
i think ill get the mini note just upgrade the ram and change it to windows vista ultamate because i like it i dont use a computer enough to kno the problems of it
Thanks for good info on the two. I like the 2133 but hesitate because I need to load my CD programs like Garmin Marine GPS, and Delorme Sreet USA, so they can be used on the go.
The 2133 comes with a express card slot, absolutely PERFECT for a Mogo mouse. It fits right in and is much more comfortable to use than any netbook trackpad. The fact that you don't need to carry it around also makes up a bit for the 2133's slightly larger size.
BTW... I spoke to an HP POS Rep yesterday. HP is introducing a new POS terminal in November running the ATOM processor. I'm sure the HP 2133 has it in the works as well.
If they fix that then it'll be the best netbook no doubt. There are rumours about it getting a Via Nano processor (basically an intel atom) but I doubt that it'll ever get a non-glossy display.
Look , HP Clearly better I own both EE901 and the top of the line HP Mini , The hp has a much better design its got a metal case and has a more advanced shock resistant technology and honestly I trust HP more than asus though I wouldnt try Vista on either PC even though Vista is so much more advanced and runs alot nicer , Just not built for these UMPCs
lol. how does the 2133's battery life compare to the 901? most of the time 7-8 hours > 3-4 right? lol. then with temperatures, the 2133 is wayyy hotter. imo, only thing better about the 2133 is the keyboard, and all it really takes to get used to touch typing on the eee pc is a couple days. price difference too ??
well yeah the hp gets alot warmer honestly though the hp out prefroms but huge mistake putting vista on id put linux on both just preforms well with low requirments but the EEE and Hp arent alot different Staples has the E at 549.99 $ canadian and the HP at 599.99 but the hp is just a bit better the case is very durable aluninum but the E's is plastic
rofl. i forgot the price diff isnt that big. my bad. i hear vista/ vista ultimate's power efficiency is better than xp's... i just haven't been willing to give up the responsiveness of XP. lol. could u maybe make a video of your 2133 with XP? I'd really like to see the performance, cos I haven't seen any in-depth videos of it with XP yet. :D
Basically, if you have 2gb of memory then you may load web content a bit faster thanks to vista technology. But it takes three times as long to boot up and runs like crap with other applications.
- Not to mention Vista's annoying menus and warning messages.
Yeah vista is much more power efficient my computer was made for vista I have had no problems except my cpu is slow but i cant blame vista for that :P I would make a video but only camera i got is a shitty cell phone cam :P ithough since my pc is low specs I want to put xp on it but cant get any drivers not even USB
for most people the asus is useless until you put windows xp on it, so it is fair to say the hp should also have xp. if you put xp on both machines, the hp would win easy.
for those of us who want portability but do some writing, the hp is the only choice out there. i have had 4 different umpcs and it always comes down to typing.
and not that they forgot to mention that the SD card slot in the eeepc is SDHC complient and the hp is not, and personaly i'de rather buy something that is actualy made by the company on the box....asus make all but the screen, while the hp would probably have a good chance to be an asus mainboard...LOL
Wow, why are you comparing something that is not even comparable. The EEE PC 7 series was the predecessor of the new EEE 9 series. And you are comparing that old model to the new HP Mini Note. That is like comparing a 1980 Honda Civic to 2002 Toyota Corolla. If you are doing a comparison, do one that is actually valid.

Compare the HP 2133 to the ASUS 1000H. No contest. The 1000H running XP with the ATOM processor beats it hands down.

Mini note is worth the extra buck i might sell my asus on ebay only bought it to compare witch one id like to keep ;P
