I'm curious to know what BMW has had pushrods since the end of the 18th century. That's like saying "I need brake shoes on my Mercedes". Sorry, such technologies were deemed far too heavy, slow and old to be of any use by BMW or Mercedes.
I hate the rattle they make...Thats because the rpm is too low. They all do that!
The best is powerdynes belt drive with Ceramic Bearings and Kevlar belt.Total Silence! And Nice cool boost temps being theres no hot oil flowing thru it.
BTW you cant find a BMW s/c kit for less than $7000.00 FOr a 540
@dannydoo Maybe then but I've seen them go for about $5k now a days. But still i don't think it's work the cash. I'd rather just do a p-chip, CAI, and free flowing exhaust. ;)
Looks like the certrifugal supercharger, like half a turbo, they have a gear box to lift up the revs about 10 times engine speed, in the housing at the front, and gear boxes are noisy. They still only spin to about 50k versus 200k of a turbo. Little boost at lower revs I have heard due to lack of speed, but fine if you are after top end.
I am not sure if they make a supercharger for the I6 in a 5 series. I know that make one for the 3 series. Not really sure. Most people would just leave the I6 alone. Not worth it since a V8 will smoke you. I suggest just keeping your 525 mildly modded in the engine/speed department. Exh, maybe engine software etc. Go for rims and suspension.
Yes they do and they push out alot of power. For example if I supercharged my M52TUB28 I could squeeze out almost 300 HP. It's not a question of whther you can supercharge the car, it's a question of can you supercharge the motor and in most applications it is a very simple install.

First of all, you shouldn't supercharge after 100k miles, you will have too many problems. And no, you have to install the Dinan performance chip stage II or higher (i believe) in order for the transmission to handle the increase in power. With the chip comes the installation of a new intake, exhaust and the O2 sensors readjust with the new chip.
you don't need the dinan chip. Its VF super charger its there software not dinan. You can super charge after 100k miles with out a problem or you can charge at 30k miles and it will fall apart... it depends on to many things. The tranny can handle it, but may decrees its life... time will tell. You dont need new anything and the VF will come with its own intake. Kit from vf comes with every thing.
cost range from 5-7k look for sales they run them ever so often. They just had a sale for 3500.00. tranny will be fine it just might not last as long. Suspension? Jeez dude you dont really need to worry about that, its only maybe another 90hp on the cheap setup. again O2 no need to worry about it. ahh the RAD on alot of BMW they are a POS, it will blow up with the added heat or with out it.
@AsianImage I agree that V8 would smoke a I6 any day. But hey they got Turbo kits which are better than superchargers in the long run for the 525i. I found a Turbonetics Turbo kit that my friend installed on his 2003 525i and it boossted it him 300HP! So now he has roughly 380HP plus he installed a Dinan Cold Air Intake, Dinan Headers/Exhaust that made it to 402HP. That thing is beast.
@AsianImage what would be a good upgrade for my 553i? i havent tried to max it out yet, but i did reach 200kph... and i'm sure it'll go faster but what could i do to make it accelerate faster?

@weetnietgeen I would only suggest the "basics" such as intake, exhaust and chip. I have friends that swear by a good chip. It literally wakes the car up. I would go in that above order. Get a good intake like Gruppe M or something, then get an exhaust and then research some chips. It will be a different car.
@AsianImage i went to a couple of tuning companies and they said it would only increase like 15 to 20hp...(just the chipping) and they charge 550 euros for it, is the 550€ really worth 20 more hp?
@AsianImage i've heard that chipping a petrol engine wouldnt make much difference, it only does to diezels, but i have a powerfilter which i should put on soon :P but what about a Group A exhaust system? or simply put, a straigt pipe from the engine to the rear (in shape ofc) thats like 100mm in diameter: P

First, the mic on this camera is probably shitty. Second, the belt has to be broken in and a lot of the sound can be attributed to that.

what the hell is the rattling noise? I hear it on every VF Engineering supercharged 540i. Is it due to lack of oil pressure at idle?
moonknight66 4 years ago
how long would it last if that were the case ?lol

no its the gears they rattle together at idle normally.
