  • One thing that 80's and early 90's had was diversity in styles of music, now there is not as much out there has it used to be since all the Big record companies bought out all the smaller independant ones unfortunetely....

  • A big cut from Medusa's

  • love it

  • Love it!!

  • how can people call belgiulm boring when we have so many epic groups n shit... fuck the world and retake the congo...

  • @SqoundreL ...retake the congo...Bangelijk!:)

  • @SqoundreL Belgium is not boring its very interesting for me :)

Poland might be boring in comparison.

  • Fucking brilliant electronic music!

  • these lyrics fucking rule. long live EBM!!!!!!! LONG LIVE WAX TRAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That dwarf looks familiar.

  • Nice 80's sound quality !

  • The sun went down and the ground started sort of griding...

  • Vive la Belgique! :)

  • ..imagine mushroom clouds (or Japan today)..this song speaks it..

  • Their was nothing like walking out of Medusas at 8am

  • way before my time but i'm really starting to appreciate this older vibe. the 80s looked like a cool time, wish i was there to experience it...

  • @BelgianMusic It's cool to look at the past to enjoy, but we must revolutionise music to be appreciated now. We need a new energy & create stuff that will be appreciated 20 years from now, unless we will always be looking back in awe at the 80's & 70's. We need new pioneers.

  • I used to have this cassette back in the day...great track!

  • que grandes

  • Mdr ils avaient deja le drone iphone ^^

je plais pas le meiller morceaux de front 242 mais super groupe !!

  • can this video get ANYMORE awesome!?

  • boccaccio

  • boccaccio!!

  • ...the way the morning broke was quite unusual!

  • @VDRP That's been stuck in my head for a while now :)

  • First time I heard this song was on tape and it was recorded by someone from the 45 rpm single but on the wrong rotational speed (33rpm)... way too slow.

It last almost 10 years before I noticed that mistake :-)

  • laarbeeklaan, grens ganshoren-zellik.

zicht op sociale buildings van ganshoren.

  • This is either awesome or gaybar music:P

  • szuper szam

  • @lilithp6 ...szerintem is:)

  • szuper szam

  • The song is one of their best..... the video doesnt do it justice... their Headhunter vid wa amazing

  • i listened to this back in 87. the video is good but at the end it looks like taxi driver robert deniro on a trampoline...

  • un grand clip par un graaand réal! (quand il était jeune, chevelu et rebelle)

  • fantastic band

  • @nutaws IT SURE IS MY FRIEND , ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER , GOTHICPRIDE !!!!!!!

  • the best band of the Electronic Body Music mouvement

  • "The way the morning broke was quite unusual" Aaahhh seems like yesterday everyone was singing along as the sun rose.

  • @BUZZY38 was that before "the cyclone hit the landscape leaving it completely flattened out?" had to have been.

that's what happens when you "smoke the large gigantic flowers"

"in less time than takes to tell"

  • "The sun went down and the ground started sort of grinding

A blinding light tore across the sky

A cyclone swept the landscape out and left it

    completely flattened out

And several twirls of smoke unfolded like gigantic flowers

The way the morning broke was quite unusual"

These lyrics are pure genius. Those smartasses. :-)

  • This was all cyberpunk-y back in the day. But I never got the trampoline scene. ??

  • ces Belges sont énormes

  • This is one of my favorite club songs of all time!

  • Front 242 Richard 23 always wore the coolest glacier type sunglasses

After two decades FRONT 242 still sounds amazing!

  • Now I remember why this music kicked so much ass...

  • foda.!!!

  • Ma jeunesse.

  • where can i get these videos so I can transfer to disc??

  • This track is an absolute classic ! One of my fave Front242 songs.

  • j'adore !

  • "the EBM creators......."

fuckin awesome stuff i have never felt again like i felt the first time i heard this song......

  • @betoromo After many many years.. still has that cool affect. Makes me reminisce of those days. Good times.

  • I can totally get into this today. Great music!!

  • das boo

  • JUST AWESOME!!! thanx for uploading******

  • Have always loved this

  • Ayada,,...U r right on time. When iwas coming up Front242 ,Nitzer Ebb was EBM moving into ,techno etc. Damn! I'z gettin ol.

  • Front 242's best LP. The rythim section is incredible. 80's flower power. LOL This song is a testament to European kids fear of the nuclear holocaust during the Cold War. "Gigantic flowers"

  • I still love this song.

  • Moved to the Chicago area because of Wax Trax at age 18. Hadn't seen this video in over a decade. Front 242s' brand of what was coined " industrial" is still very relevent in techno, electro, tech-house, etc. circles today.

Strong use of synths with expert beat editing. The horn riffs in the background were great samples to use! Ahead of it's time, those Front 242 men were!

  • yes I totally agree! I saw them play here in Dallas way back in 1991 I believe it was. Lol I remembered the mosh pit was so crazy I lost one of my brand new shoes and broke a toe! Damn I remember that hurt for a long time!

  • muy buen video de front 242

  • Comment removed

  • I was Hou,Tx. DJ and I play 242 every night . It was a floor filler. 91' kicked ass

  • I used to get this shit through the mail on cassette tape, via wax trax records and another label i cant remember. This was a Fantastic record and it's amazing how the techn ologoy they used to make doesnt sound dated like so much other 80's synth, i didnt follow the scene for too long, but Front 242, Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly KMFDM,ruled my life from 84-90 and it was the best.

Movies,Music,Porn, the 80's Ruled for many reasons,Industrial music was another.

  • @KAISERKRAUT

Play it again Sam records? Could that be the other label you're talking about?

  • @KAISERKRAUT - other label probably PIAS - play it again sam?

  • @KAISERKRAUT Those cassettes are still intact, mostly. It was the best.

  • nothing beats EBM/industrial / electronica music. even new industrial/electro acts are still better than the stuff we usually hear on the radio these days. this music is my culture, its my life.

  • @tool619 agreed.

  • @tool619 Never trust the crap on the radio these days! The good stuff can be found in the depths of the Internet.

  • @tool619 I just don't know any bands after late 90's who are actually really outstanding in any way, I mean, in what would be considered EBM/industrial. That's why it didn't stand out as a genre with time. Psytrance, trance, new metal, and other genres got the best elements of the underground electronic of the 80/90's, and most of the remaining EBM/industrial stuff was boring underproduced stuff.

Or does anyone have a good example of an excelent EBM-like artist from the last decade??

  • @Carcinomium

I guess the 80's were so good musically, especially in Europe, is that there was so much background tension what with the wall & the old CCCP. Since the wall came down, things have just become so much more easier for every-one, so why bother make ground braking music anymore? Times are changing again though. Front 242 had such a cold war sound about them. 20 years after the fall, they don't seem so relevant?

  • @nutster9000 no good has come from tearing down that wall, more shit came to ancient Europe and things got worse for the inhabitants. The cold feeling stays...Front stays.

  • @atzenanu I do agree with you being in the UK. I meant, what with the wall being there, there was much more inspiring music everywhere as a result of the cold war tensions. Now there are no tensions, there is no inspiration or aspirations (of the good kind). The peoples just want their individual identity back. Creating a united europe just slowly erodes identity and without identity, we lose our worth. It will only ever work in the US, no where else! DEVO were right all along!

  • @atzenanu selfish but true

  • mestrenzyeric@yahoo.fr

    mes plus beau delirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ha

  • @tool619 I couldn't agree more. Elektro/Electro-Industrial, EBM, industrial New Beat, Post-Industrial, Aggro-Industrial. can't live without it <3 Sounds so futuristic and awesome, ahead of its time.

  • i like to say that all the good tunes of the eighties are on my playlist including SP= skinnypuppy

  • You guys should check out some current gen electronica from Belgium, stuff like Shameboy, The Subs, Dr. Lektroluv, Ganja White Night, Mr. Magnetik, Ortin Cam, Monsieur Henri, Soulwax, Goose, Sweet Coffee, etc.

Quite unlike F242 of course, but still top quality tunage.

  • The atmosphere of the bands you mention is completely different from F242, so I don't expect lots of thumbs up...

  • you forgot 'lebelgeelectrod'

  • my all time favourite from this great Belgian group...going to see them on Sinnersday on 1st Nov 2009...yeah

  • front 242........amazing!!!........five stars

  • Comment removed

  • Classic.

  • Who is SkinnyPuppy? oO

    *just joking* ;)

  • almost as good as Skinny puppy;)

    peace

    ypp

  • skinny puppy is in a different sub genre of industrial, they are more darkwave than ebm. which front 242 is and nitzer ebb. both sub genres are equally distinctive and original.

one of my sp fav albums is too dark park

that's one soundscape of density and horror. you got to listen to that over sometime repeatedly to pick out pieces you miss...

  • they killed sp

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork: don't be silly plz;)

    No one kills SP

  • you're right, they kill themselves.

but look, they've never been as popular as front 242 and never had as big a single like headhunter.

and most of their stuff is just out their, some is good but most is utter shit unless you wanna bring it out to play on halloween.

their record with al jourgensen was good though and I'm not a guitar fan but hey, it was a decent record.

  • Woah. Did you just use popularity to defend how you rate industrial music?

If that's a good standard--the entire genre is utter crap.

  • no, i used logic, and the industrial "Scene" is pretty much crap these days

  • this is the song !!!!

  • This talented Belgian band was QUITE UNUSUAL and AMAZING

  • what is ebm ?

  • EBM stand for Electronic Body Music. Enjoy :)

  • @shadowcrossss: ebm = emotional brainless music-equivalent - rU kidding?

Das ist nicht dein Ernst, oder?

  • Today it's mostly brainless indeed. just about clothes and being seen. Cybercrap!

  • @RavenousNow You're right, in modern days the so called industrial-movement is all about listening to the same music everyone else does, dressing like everyone else does, etc. It does not differ from the "mainstream" at all, at least from these aspects.

I used to be a collective of people, who we're unified for wanting to be something else, now you can't join unless you have a gas mask, goggles, UV-clothes and lord knows what else. The tables are turned.

  • its marketing and consumerism- plus the method for making music is from a one unit production- a program....

    homogenized kidzins'

  • @themikealike i think they used Rebirth? thats exactly what I love about it. the integration of human with machine. they were way before their time, as were many others. am wondering how old all of the people leaving comments are. that we remember this. I'm 38. They started out in the early 80s though i think?

  • brings me back to the day of doc's, flight jackets, and eyeliner. how is it that 80's ebm sounds way better than today's, oh yah, it wasn't so concentrated on image and it had something intelligent to say

  • Amen brother!

  • Much appreciated great stuff...... now just need to hear "Circling Overland" to make my day

  • EBM = ELECTRONIC BODY MUSIC...

  • Totally whacked out.

    I like it.

In less time than it takes to tell.

  • Sorry to inform you, but these guys were against any form of bigotry.

  • This song and video rocks !!!!!!!!!!

I am a radio heli enthusiast so this vid really makes my day also.. lol

  • Absolute classic good fuckin stuff

  • Wonderful! That's real EBM, newbies! =D

  • what is ebm?

  • Belgians make great EBM. They also make great fuckin' guns like the Fabrique Nationale FN FAL 50.00 made in Herstal. I bought one of the few left you can still own in the USA (for now). I want to shoot it a the gun range while Front 242 is blaring on loudspeakers. GO BELGIUM!!!!

  • Made in Belgium!

  • hehe, i used to say that to my ex-wife, every morning at coffee table: the way the morning broke was quite unusual. :-)

  • Comment removed

  • does she had that syfils treatment? :-)

  • I remember when this video came out. I do know that I am showing my age but that was the 80s. The 80s rocked. That was when you saw these ppl with 12 in mohawks and leather jackets. Us "punk rockers and goths" would get asked if we were from Chicago or something all the time.

  • Front 242 pionnerd EBM, Kraftwerk really didnt do anything other than create the "basics" off electornic music genres, so you CAN say FRONT 242 INVENTED EBM, PERIOD. BTW, FRONT 242 IS ONLY STANDARD OLDSKOOL(Light-EBM) EBM, NOT NIDUSTRIAL, EBM IS FAR FROM EVEN EVEN-EVEN BY ANY MEANS(BY ANY MEANS!!!) THE SAME AS INDUSTRIAL. So Front 242 is just, real/normal EBM.

  • "ANd in less time that it takes to tell..!"

  • dude, don't mention south park and front 242 in the same sentence, ass monkey.

  • I love F242, great music, and their vids are always weird in a cool way. Would love to see them live once..

  • I saw Front 242 when they opened for Depeche Mode in a small venue in Germany back in the 80's. That was the first time I heard of them and have loved them ever since. They also played a lot of Front 242 in a club called The Flash in Kaiserslaturen, Germany that I always went to. Brings back awesome memories!
