  • thank you for posting mate I love this movie, calling Lucas and Co :D this needs a remake

  • no thats not batman that's that posh git bruce wayne.

  • Yes... Before he became mayor of Quahog RI, Adam West went to Mars. (Almost!)

Loved this Movie! Many of the Sound & Visual effects were borrowed from War of the Worlds.

Still have an old copy burried somewhere... but thanks for posting!

  • I have not seen this film for 40 years.

Nice bit of nostalgia and a neat take on the Robinson Crusoe classic.

    Thank you for posting.

  • the other guy was in a batman episode pretending to be batman

  • 6:08)

    AHHH-HAHAHAH!

    epic fail.

  • Why is Batman going to Mars?

  • @KaiserJames

Bloody hell! You're right. I thought I saw this guy somewhere. That batman and robin movie is a hoot! It's so bad that it's so good.

    Paradoxical, I know.

  • Holy Space monkeys batman! I used tol love this film as a kid.

  • I give it two thumbs up, a must see for those seeking quality movies. This was well before computer animation, fx, and complex digital arrangement. Very creative.

  • I remember as a small boy being blown away by the compact/functional equipment Draper used on Mars, particularly the video cassette, real cutting edge at the time.

  • FULL MOVIE HERE Robinson Crusoe: watch?v=PBN2E1-QIcY You won't regret seing my FEATURE 1h 41 minutes version, all free on antonpictures channel at the FULL FREE MOVIES playlist section. Follow the blue arrow. Thank you very much for support, George Anton - Filmmaker.

  • If you're alone out in space, the LAST thing you want to be stuck with is a monkey, those things are vicious little bastards!

  • That's an interesting technique they used in this film. Their primary ship moved so fast you could barely see it. Even freezing the frame doesn't show a clear shot. Not bad for its time.

  • That's Batman!!!

  • 2001 was made same year....much better.....

  • @MrCrispian Uh, no, Robinson Crusoe on Mars was released in 1964. 2001 was released in 1968.

  • Holy monkey, Robin!

  • i remember watchin this on turner classic movies when i was like 9, and i never knew what it was until youtube.

  • Except for the inaccuracy of a fiery atmosphere on Mars(understandable considering no probe had been there yet when this was made), this is all pretty tight for 1964.

  • thank you very much, great movie

  • One of the more intelligent sci-fi films, with a well-written script & high production value (for the era & budget). Death Valley, CA, was used quite effectively as a stand-in for Mars. Though not as extensive as, say, John Williams' "Star Wars" scores, Nathan Van Cleave's music is quite good, especially the main theme (some may recognize his name as composer of the music for several episodes of the original "Twilight Zone" series, 1959-64, and introducing the use of the Theremin to television).

  • These old sci fi movies were classic shows they dont make em like they used to i just love them

  • i saw just first nine minutes and WTF??? he can breathe mars atmosphere? he disassemble spaceship doors soooooo easy? its really movie for adults?

  • I remember seeing this when it came out I was 12.

  • Loved seeing the recycled WOWW saucers!

  • at 2:15. I didn't know we'd revert back to cassettes in the future! XD

  • Adam West and Paul Mantee are Two Great actors. I think Paramount Studios

really missed the boat with this one by not making it a weekly series or at

least making one or two sequel movies. What a shame.

  • Adam West....!!!!

  • My boyfriend keeps telling me to watch this because of how good it is and his Grandpa played Friday. :3

  • One of the BEST Sci~Fi Films of the 60's...Probably until 2001:A Space Oddyssey. However, the effects are still fun as ever.

  • A very entertaining movie,I remember seeing this on one of my Matinee Satudays when I was a kid. It had me fascinated with the special effects and the Alien slave ships were the Martian walkers from George Pal's War of the Worlds, they just painted them white and removed the serpent gun on top.

  • @jay55also Although the alien spacecraft in "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" had the same shape as the Martian war machines in "War of the Worlds," they were different models. The models used in "War of the Worlds" were large, made from sheet copper over a wooden frame, and rigged for lighting effects. The models for RCOM were smaller and roughly carved from solid wood, with the pulsating light effect added with animation in postproduction.

  • It's Adam West/Batman! And I'm lovin' the mellow lounge music playing at the beginning of the first scene... a real tension-builder! LOL!

  • Well, you knew it was only a matter of time, but Adam West finally found his way into the Criterion Collection. Now if only Bruce Campbell would follow suit...

  • Nooooo BatMan don't die!!!

  • I first saw this in a drive-in theater during its initial release. Happened to be making a walk from the car to the theater restroom when one of the alien gunships cut loose with a volley. All the little speakers in the theater let loose with the sound effect, and I almost didn't need the restroom!

  • Thanks for posting this classic!

  • I always thought that one of the plot holes was that they had food on the ship and the supplies they needed, but they went down were there was none. Although they explain later that the orbiter was programmed to descend on it's own. I wish they'd remake this movie, but I fear they'd mess it up, they'd probably introduce swearing, drug use and all sorts of other things that weren't in these older movies.

  • great looking print

  • Dear Zuke, There were no Martians on Mars..the evil aliens came to Mars from

another planet and they got really P-!..when"Navy Cmdr. Chris(Kit)Draper"

    (Mr.Mantee)rescued one of their slaves.

  • I saw this at the theater when i was young!Made a lasting impression on me all my life!Love it!!

  • It's funny... two or three years later, when Adam West was the star of Batman, Paul Mantee had a small part as a hinchman with Catwoman.

  • Mona = monkey love

  • At 4:12, that computer is running windows xp (binary version) ;)

  • I havent seen this movie since i was a kid - thanks

  • Great sci-fi movie from the sixties..one of my favs along with "War of The Worlds" (opps that was 1953) and "The Time Machine (1960).

  • @Eddiesix looks like kindergarden next to kubrik's 2001...and to think that is only a couple of years apart...unbelievable dude....i like it too...camp fun, bring it on

  • Despite it's flaws..I like this sci fi aventure film.I first saw it at The Wakefield Movie Theater in the Bronx,NYC back in 1964. And to this day..I still enjoy watching it.

  • @143AC I watched it on Governors Island NYC in '64 at the theater there. One of my all time favorite films!!

  • Bat Man looks fine, but Fucking hell what happened to Robin?

  • I saw this movie when it first came out! I saw it at the old Court theater in Hamilton Ohio I was 14!

  • @KC8YOQ A lot of us come here to see movies we loved when we were young :-)

  • cool movie

  • OMG lol My mom wasnt even born when this movie came out! lol Its funny graphics

  • Thank you for posting this classifc movie.

  • DEfinitely love this movie. Saw it about 20 years ago and it was old then. Old but good!

  • Da DaDaDa DaDa Batman!

    Cool Adam West.

  • Wohoooo ! Great movie ! Thank you for sharing ! Dude, you rock ! ;D

  • @johnnyphoenix74 The scenes on the surface of Mars were filmed in California’s Death Valley with the Martian sky matted in. It was a pretty effective illusion when this picture was made, considering that most alien planets in movies back then looked like sets on soundstages -- or like Griffith Park.

  • tape recorder?... A TAPE RECORDER??

  • Aye... a tape recorder.. with ugly dance music

  • Of course he had a tape recorder. What else would you expect in 1964???

  • I have always liked the film, could have done without all the Man Friday/Alien stuff, but I guess Mars by itself was not exciting enough for a movie, just a guy surviving on Mars, so they had to put in the other stuff.

  • @monkeyboy4746 Wouldn't be Robinson Crusoe without Friday.

  • i have this novel in 5th standard

  • For the time this film was made, I think it's really an excellant film, not your standard mindless astronaut meets monster/robot/space thing. It really stands alone as a good story.

  • perhaps my favorite space movie of all time. even though this was produced about 15 yrs or so before i was born i can still appreciate the plot and the special effects. i love sci fi classics. thanx youtube

  • just ordered this. so happy it's available. saw this as an 8 year old and it blew my mind.

  • So glad to see this posted. I haven't seen it since I was a kid!!!! And I've been wanting to for a long time!

  • WHAT A GREAT POST ! THANKS !!

  • Without his utility belt, it appears Batman could not survive the Red Planet...

  • Thanks for posting, brings back memories of a time of the beginings of manned space flight. I was 10 years old when this movie first came out in 1964. My dad took me to a drive-in movie theater to see it. Saw it at the Centennial Drive-In near Littleton, Colorado, which is no longer there. This is one of the movies that get me interested in space exploration.

  • As a kid, I thought this film was the tops. Great effects and story.

Loved it. Fun to see it again! Thanks.

  • this is a really great film!!!!

  • I used to watch this on AMC channel. Thanks for posting.

  • BATMAN???

  • The title of this movie suggests thats it's really naff, but i thought this was an excellent movie from the first time i watched it in the 1980's, i have always been a sci-fi movie fan and taken in consideration in the year it was made they really did a good job and with a excellent story line.

  • I first saw this movie in 1966 in 7th grade. The school would show part each day for 25 cents. Took all week to see it, but I've always like this one.

  • The alien space ships are REAL. They were in "War of the Worlds", so it has to be true!!!

Seriously, I always loved the brotherhood that happended between the two men - I get goosebumps at the "Lord is my shepherd" part.

  • Special thanks should go to Zuke05, yes, and to the Criterion Collection for having the saavy to understand that certain so-called "B" films have great social, cultural, and historical value and should be preserved and made available.

  • This was an important movie. It helped change the idea of spacemen and space exploration from one of 1950s buck rogers' clean mystical technology to an attainable realworld-difficult idea. The viewer empathizes and feels they can understand what it takes to explore a planet like mars.

It sparked the imagination of millions of people to realize that it takes science, curiousity, diligence, and observation to make headway into space.

  • Thanks again Dave.

  • i never knew bruce wayne was an astronaugt!

  • the title is a bit of a put-off, but its actually a good movie

  • The title may have actually prevented the movie from being more successful. "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" sounds like a kiddie flick or a Disney film. In fact, to this day, some people get it confused with the Disney movie "Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N.", which was a comedy set during World War II in the Pacific and starring Dick Van Dyke. And had nothing to do with Mars.

  • This is STILL one of my all time favorite movies to watch over and over again! I do the same with The Day the Earth Stood Still. Thanks so much for the post!

  • @Aerospaceman If you like those, you might enjoy Earth Vs. the Flying Saucers, and THEM! Both are a fun experience.

  • This was not a bad movie for its time (1964) and always enjoyable to watch. The 'air pills' were M&M's and the 'sausages' were pepperonis.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • It's Batman!!

  • Hello Zuke05,whoa this neat old film sure brings back memories.

The woolly monkey in the space suit was cool.

    Thanks for airing this series.

  • The monkey had more screen time than Adam West. She probably had a better agent.

  • Scotpens, lol no doubt.

  • Wonderful, and thanks for uploading!

  • Thank you so much for adding this. RCOM is one of my most favourite films of all time.

    Very good quality encoding too.

    Thanks again. :)

  • @noeuro he uploaded a 16:9 as 4:3. Everything is all squashed.

  • Considering the time when they made this, and their budget, it was/is a pretty good movie
