Okay, now I get it! I was always so confused with the concept of daemons, but I think that I understand it fully. Basically, a daemon is you, just a seperate part of you. Like, when Lyra is telling Pan to sop being scared, she's telling herself to be brave.

And the reason why you can't touch another's daemon is because it would be like molestation almost. And, that relates to why Dust is bad. It makes you grow up almost, and circumcision stopps kids from themselves almost. or something...

compared to the books, this film was an utter fucking failure and a disgrace. so many major plot points were cut out and/or rearranged. this movie is rushed and watered down and is a terrible insult to the books, and it is sad that all the people out there who could have sat down and opened up the book to read, are going to instead settle for this piece of shit below-mediocre film.

Well,actualy Philip Pullman wanted Marisa Coulter's hair to be blonde,because he realized that Lyra was blonde,and had blue eyes,and he regreted making Marisa not have blonde hair and blue eyes,so Nicole Kidman was his prefered choice for the roll,and he wanted her to be blonde in the movie.

I just watched the movie, and I'v read the 3 books in the series. The movie and the books are anti-religious, but Jesus Isn't even in the story. What happens is that Lyra and the boy close up the holes that alows dust to pass through, therefore stoping the Magestirium from taking complet control of every universe.

Jesus is not the figurehead of every religion. And just because something is antireligious doesn't mean it has to have Jesus. That's failry bloody obvious. Its antireligious because it encourages to think for themselves and not believe what they are told. And it protrays the churches for what they are, corrupt and child abusing. "Cutting" is metaphorical of circumcission. Stopping children from playing with their daemons (themselves).

That was from the original ending. But new Line Cinema decided to cut it out...I don't remember why exactly...I think they tried it out on an audience and it didn't work out or something...But people are saying that it's going to be in the second movie...Problem is the movie didn't earn as much money as they wanted so they might not be able to make the other movies so we might never see those clips again! :(

yes the movie is based on a book by phillip pullman, which was set here in england, in oxford, called northern lights. so yes they changed the mane to fit in with the americans for a better market, now that is idiocy

No, the Americans changed the title to better fit with the titles of the other two books. So that each book was named after one the the three important items in the series, namely the Golden Compass, the Subtle Knife and the Amber Spyglass. Moron.
