I always thought that Ann Miller was sexy as all get out... Not as totally beautiful as Cyd Charisse but much more accessable. The camera lens loved her...
Knowing that censorship was still happening for movies then, I continue to wonder how some these lyrics got used in the film - "Bare skin, bear skin / I REALLY love bear skin" and "They sat around just beatin' on tom-toms / I REALLY love tom-toms", sung while she shivers her chest alluringly!
She just tapped that...in heels :o So refreshing to see people with actual talent, makes Hollywood feel respectable for a minute or two. Frank was so gorgeous in the 40s!

A horrible, stupid movie except for having one of the most stunningly and erotically electric female dance numbers in the history of film!! Anne Miller was HOT!!!!
@broadwaystar92 The number was written new for the movie. The stage show had a museum scene, but a different number, called "I Get Carried Away," done with just Claire and Ozzie.
Sigh. People have just regressed. I mean, the dream was that everyone would be equal, not trying to blame each other saying "OMG! RACISM!!!!!" every few seconds. This is an AMAZING number and dance routine. I doubt they were trying to make a bigoted remark at all when made it. Sheesh.
I think this is my favorite part of On the Town. Not only does Ann Miller have ridiculous dancing skills, she's such a great singer! Love this song, love this dress, love all of these people.
Flippant racism? Strange perception....get over it! You are perpetuating a victim consciousness, will it ever cease? You must hate Sammy Davis, Jr. - these
folks are incredibly talented tap dancers....it's just that simple!!!
Does anyone know where I can get the lyrics??!

This scene is incredibly offensive, but the dancing and outfits are great. Love all the people in it, but there's no denying it.
