Does anybody know this song? It goes a little something like this. Dent dent da da...dent dent da da..ahhh ahhh la lala...If anybody could help me out that would be great.
There are two types of Orchestral/Rock hybrids out there to choose from. The first is the lazy way, playing a transliteration of the rock song exactly to specs. The second is the good version, using the themes presented in the rock tune but composing a new and proper classical piece. LSO has done both in its history and I am glad to say that this tune is strongly leaning towards the second form.
Get those French Horns blowing their guts out... it is too soft... down key the cornets and flutes... they are clashing with the violins... use trombones..finish is excellent.....
Almost as good as the original. I love their version of "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty, I think that that and "The final Countdown" are some of the better LSO covers.
I adore the LSO version of this classic!....my favourite piece!, in fact this has given me an idea to put this to a firework display I will set up this summer!
I suprised it wasn't by spanish orchestra.

Anyone else think of one of those James Bond knock-offs that came out during the 80s when they hear this?

@setp
I commented similarly on another posting of this version. My thinking was along the lines of the opening credits theme to a Western.

This piece, if not one of the best rock n roll songs ever written, would have actually made a good classical number by itself.
theatlantisrise 1 year ago 3
@theatlantisrise It was written as a ballad, originally. Ballads and orchestras work hand in hand.

i can only imajin what its like not to have heard the original, this one first.
but then again it takes away the centamental value of haveing this song in your memory from high school , listining to this is so much more deep.

Nah... Sounds more like the soundtrack to a western.
The overture used during the opening or closing credits.

If you haven't seen/heard it already, you should look up the Scorpions "Hurricane 2000" with the Berlin Philharmonic. That one was surprising too.
