I am Palestinian Muslim and I am Canaanite. This language sounds like a mix between hebrew and arabic, but I think arabic is much prettier. I am proud that the arabs conquered my country, because my ancestors probably worshiped idols. Canaanites were a semitic people like jews and arabs which make canaanite jews, arabs and canaanites all cousins. That is why we look so similar.

@istiiizzz greek was popular on the mediteranian coasts because it offered the people a trade with the greeks,also later latin.But the people still spoke their own language too,but didnt record it in writting or maybe they wrote on material similar to paper,papyrus which didnt last long.One thing is sure there are phoenician inscription which still date to the 2 & 3 century after christ.Maybe they talked longer in their language.The related punic language is attested till the 6th century ad.

Well arabic is simply a modern language of canaanite and all semitic language of the levant. And I agree with "montezoma" arabic is born from the old semitic languages and not viceverse.

@amrjosef right , but not only from the levant, there was amoritic it was a transfer language between proto-canaanite and arabic it was spoken in jordania and syria and west iraq attested 2200 bc, the oldest (north)arabic inscriptions are from the 8th century bc, the oldest canaanite language inscription is from 2400 bc, it was proto cananite already divided in this extrem old period, it would be to simple to say that all semitic languages came from arabic.

I like the sound of Arabic. Phoenician is a nice language too i'm sure. I'd rather resurrect Syriac though if you want to go to extremes.

Yea Ithink thats right, in the bible are many words in phoenician language and phoenician god names are mentioned as names for the jewish god. Before the hebrews came to canaanites they spoke aramaic, but since they lived in canaan they mixed their aramaic with the canaanite language , the result is hebrew.

Nobody knows for sure how the Canaanite sounds really. The interpretations of the Canaanite talking are mostly based ( and very inccurately ) on the hebrew, which is, very much so, a broken Canaanite language. For Hebrews did not spoke their present language before they invade Canaan. So, even though the idea of rendering the Canaanite language sound, is very admirable, people should keep in mind that the real sound of this language can be far away from the presentation.
