  • Seufz...

    Kerstin

  • @Libelle1963 Hallo liebe Kerstin, nochmals danke!

Da hätte ich ehrlich glatt was versäumt :-)

    Liebe Grüße

    Robert

    Anette

  • Lovely Anette. This reminded me of my one year studying German when I was about 9 years old. We sang this one and another called Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken.

:-) Yes I know this song and I love to sing it with kids. But the melody is Neapolitan, not German. So it has Italian roots. You studied German? Great.

Thank you very much for listening and commenting, -

    Anette

  • @TanteA You are so welcome. Yes I studied German (if you can call it that) - but it was so many many years ago I cannot even count to ten any more :(

  • Dear Anette. I just love to hear you sing these German folk songs. My mother was German, and she was a great harmony singer too. She and my Tante Emma would sing these old songs together, so when I hear you sing them so well, with such a genuine voice, it brings back many pleasant memories. Thanks very much.

  • @jimmymac30 Hi Jim, thank you very much for listening and your great comment. Where in Germany your mother had her roots? It makes me very glad that I brought back memories to you.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • @TanteA She was born the Sudetenland (Czechoslovakia) in Niederlindewiese. She immigrated to England after the war, and then to the USA. She was one of sixteen children, and three of them are still living. Meine Tante Emma in Bayern, mein Onkel Josef, auch in Bayern, und meine Tante Hanni. Sie wohnt in New Jersey, USA.

  • I enjoy what Dave does too. He is a unique artist who amazes me with the degree of sophisticated details he brings to his folk music. Nice to be able to read the translation 'cause I always wonder what those German folk songs are about :) Good to see those sketches for pony and sparrow as well. The pony looks so real and solid I feel like I could just about reach out and touch it

  • @CurtisMateer Hi Pete, thank you very much. Yes Dave is a really good folk musician. I tried to make the translations of the song lyrics into English as good as possible. Thank you very much for your compliments to my drawings. Nice greetings from Anette

  • Thanks Anette

This is very pretty. I really appreciate the lyrics in both languages. I am truly inspired by you and others who can communicate in more than one language. I will always sing this song in the German, though. I think singing it in English would lose too much of the meaning. Some feelings just don't translate very good.

    Dave

  • @dholeton Hi Dave, thank you very much for your reply. With the lyrics you are right. It is not so easy to make a real good translation. I tried to translate so song so that the original feeling of it did not get lost. But nevertheless it would be very interesting to read the English lyrics to the song that you normally sing.

    Nice greetings from Anette

  • @dholeton

    Anette

I was going to send lyrics rewritten from your English version but decided not. Here are the lyrics I may have used once many years ago where I sang the first verse in German and the second in English.

You You You're in my heart oh You You you're in my mind

You You must never part oh I would be lost without you

Yes Yes Yes Yes I would be lost without you

Yes Yes Yes Yes I would be lost without you

    Thanks

    Dave

  • Another delightful production, Anette - lovely singing & perfect harmonies. I recognize the melody - love your drawings, too. I will check out your friend. Enjoyed this very much, Anette!

  • @ImOfTheWoods Hi Sylvia, thank you very much for listening. I thought that Dave and some ofther of my foreign friends would enjoy this song. That´s why I uploaded it. I have dozens of such recordings but I won´t upload them all :-)

Have a great weekend, - Anette

  • very nice Anette....always a pleasure to hear your wonderful voice. Thanks for including the English translation......just beautiful..

  • @PatrickGMoran Hallo Patrick, thank you very much for your compliment for my voice. I appreciate it very much.

    Nice greetings from Anette

  • Sweet harmonies with the wonderful song Anette! Loved seeing the drawings in their early stage:) Hope people go over and look at Pony and Sparrow, it is beautiful in it's completion! Hope you have a wonderful weekend:) *****

  • @Cameragirl803 Hi Jane, this summer I recorded a lot of these folksongs, but I won´t upload them all. Yes, I already got a nice comment to Pony and Sparrow.

My weekend will be fine. I will go to an outdoor brunch and they said the weather will be good :-)

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • Very nice, Anette. Actually, I learned to sing this song 48 years ago while studying German language at a university (the second of six I have attended). Of course, I have forgotten most of the words now. Our German Club would frequent a pub with great beer and German food and sometimes we would get a little "beer happy" and start singing. Ah, those days were filled with excitement. Thanks for the memories.

    Pura Vida!!!

    Ron

  • @13crickets Hallo Ron, oh yes I can imagine this very well. The time as a student is the best in the life, isn´t it? That sounds really good... great beer and German food... What did you have? Bratwurst and Sauerkraut? I am very glad that I brought back the memory of this nice folksong to you.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • Adorable song & pictures, Anette!

  • @amccann7 Thank you so much Amy for listening and commenting, I sang a lot of uplifting German folksongs this summer, maybe because it was always raining.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • Really nice, Anette! Great job!

  • @Johnfern99 Thank you very much John for listening to this song. I recorded a lot of German folksongs this summer and I thought why not loading up a few now.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

    Anette

  • Hi Anette, I really love the way you perform these German folk songs and it is wonderful that we have your drawings added to them as well. Nice Greetings from USA. -Ron

  • @rhopen Thank you dear Ron, I love to sing these folk songs very much to be honest. And I will draw a new picture story soon, you will see. Jane and Winston will smile about it very much too :-))

Nice greetings from your German friend, - Anette

  • Love this! You are just pure tenderness and love!!

  • @0258jtj7 Hallo Ray, thank you very much for always watching my vids and for your kind comment. I do appreciate it very much.

    Nice greetings from Anette
