  • What all is involved in a swap like this? I know, I will need the engine, trans, ecu, and wiring harnesses. Will i need the suspension parts from a donor supra? As well as diffrentials?

  • @grfximage ... no, the suspension won't fit. So we installed some custom made a-arms. As well we installed a Haltech ecu, but we kept the differential.

  • Nice job, its something different!!!!

  • Thought I'd stop by to see if you got any smarts about putting in a real motor in your potential hot rod yet ? And stopped listening to some of these guy's who think your idea was super! Some of you may know this gm did put 4 cyl's in there Camaro's and Firebird's but where are they now?? the owners got smart and put in their own V8's in !! You should have gone out and found a Pontiac sprint six these came factory with a 4barrel and I think a header already just an Idea??? nice try !! Cheer's

  • lol, i love how all the good ole boys are chiming in casue you did something they cant understand I bet you any money that if they put theyre goood ole amurikan v8s against this thing theyd get ate alive. Considering non of them know they story of this car, you used what you had available to you and it turned out great. Just let the purist monkeys think what theyre going to think, just dont tell them where you live, lol. itll ruin it for them

  • You're all stupid suggesting 2jz's when this is a classic and a uz would be perfect for it if you're going japswap

  • Only a complete moron would take a classic american car and desecrate it with a jap engine. Check out my Lemans. Thats what real american muscle looks like.

  • Talk about an oxymoron.

  • here's your sign !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude! This like a string bikini on a over weight chick you just don't do it you should of went out and do a chevy or ponti or new toyota v8. Once again it's like a battle ship with a small out board motor you just don't do it sorry nice try.

  • If your going to do the swap at all.. why put a 7M and not a 2JZ?

  • Wow, you have seriously pissed off the NASCAR watchers of the world. It's like you took away their Budweiser and Copenhagen or something. Anyway, this car is bad ass, I hope to see more of this car soon man. And to all the village idiots who have flaunted their ignorance with their comments...You are so right...Pontiac is the greatest company to ever be discontinued by GM...And I would be happy to race your big block Pontiac with my 12v Dodge anytime.

  • Put a corvette motor in there, not that supra piece of sheet

  • @iEyeRFD

lol, impling the corvette motor isnt already a piece of sheet, as you put it.

tell me when GM starts putting forged bottom ends in theyre motors from the factory and ill give your comment some cred, other than that, speak not of which you know little of, and judging by what you said, you know nothing of the mg/jz line of engines.

Not everything race bred is a v8 or american you know

  • if you want to race a real le mans come find me.

you wet peice of pussy shit.

  • it just doesnt make sense to put it in a car that heavy..i could see a camaro/trans am or a mustang, but that thing doesnt build any torque, so itll suck on the streets, plus it probably wont even do that good on gas cause hes gonna be mashing the pedal all the time trying to get the thing moving.

  • your an idiot:)

  • weak ass , my ass

  • LOVE that gas tank heating exhaust.

WHY in the FK would you put a weak ass motor in a 3800 lbs car?

Stock 350 or 400 probably out ran the new motor.

  • @NdYfUn4mE

have you ever looked at a camaro or a nova or ay care around that time? have you seen where the stock mufflers are? theyre right in front of the damn gas tank. so go ask GM what they were thinking. also.....its his car, let him do whatever the hell he wants with it. not your shit, lol

  • This is gonna be slow...

Bcuz of the heavy body work....

  • none of you seem to get that nothing and i say nothing beats good old Detroit muscle, and those ancient engines will be around and still kicking the shit out of everything else, oh a 70 LeMans can beat any tonka toy, supped up go-cart, and little shit rice burner you can build.

  • horrible swap. the owner of this car is an asshole

  • that is fuckin dumb and by the way thats a 70 lemans

  • it would be cooler the other way around. pontiac engine in supra.

  • Yeah but it would probably just break, being a crap american tractor motor from the prehistoric era!

  • 1970 is prehistoric? i will promise you the pontiac motor would run circles around the toyota engine. i mean come on. TOY is in the name how gay can it get?

  • @Floe4444

a forged crank, rods and pistons with oil squirters vs a cast crank rods and cast aluminum pistons. Ill let you be the judge of that. keep think that backwards ass logic....that TOY is going to make you look like a ass.

  • cragmac, your mother is prehistoric too then, go tell her that she is an old, unreliable, rusty bitch.

  • thats fucken sick

  • Well, just another classic American car screwed up with a Jap engine. How many times have you had to rebuild it after an overdose of NOS? Hmmmm.

  • i like! im thinking bout doin the same to my already desicrated Buick GN, one question tho! why a 7m and not a 2jz or even a 1jz? still aawsome!!

  • ... the 7M-GTE was available ;) ...

  • @gate8 and the 7mgte is better(IMO)...2jz and 1jz are over used. 1.5jz would have been nice though lol

  • Schade, dass sowas nicht unterbunden wird. Respekt vor der Arbeit, aber leider ein sinnloser Umbau in meinen Augen. Klingt deutlicher schlechter als man es von so einem Auto erwartet.

  • I kept waiting for this video to get out of the lame mode, but then I noticed it was ending.

I'll give you a B for camera technique

    F for background music

D+ for bothering to screw up an old American car with a perfectly good rice burner, which would be OK in anything else but

F for no point at all. There is a point? What was it, I guess I missed the point

  • ok now !!!! put the pontiac 455 in the supra LOL!!!

  • cool tokyo drift twist

  • awesome car

  • PS The front end of this car indicates a 1970. The vin for a 72 Lemans should go something like 2D37 or 2G37 followed by H2 and a bunch more numbers. The guys who posted the video say they have the 72 vin numbers so it makes sense to think someone put a new clip on the car...

  • Anything to keep the old girl on the road is good. The 72 Lemans engine choices back then were a 6 and at least 4 V-8s: the Pontiac 350, the totally different Chev 350, a 400 small block and the huge Pontiac 455. By the way, American muscle is alive and well...new Mustangs, Challengers and the soon to be released Camaro all have stock engines which put out as much or more horses than the old inefficient 68 to 71 engines. Finally, a 72 Lemans was not a muscle car. 68 to 71 yes, 72 no.

  • how was 72 not a muscle car? 73 and up were the engines that were really bogged down cause of smog laws...68-72 is all the same shit just running a smaller cam after 70'

  • Hi TW: I say the muscle car ended with the last of the 71s when I look at horsepower and torque and compare them to what was being sold in 1972. Seems to me to be a dramatic drop. I suggest a 69 Le Mans could outperform a similarly equipped 72 or later. Cheers

  • you cant be ignorant to people just because they wanna be different and as for domestic stuff...

toyota is the only one that is made 100% in america

  • You sir, are an idiot.

    Toyota 100% made in america?

Please explain your logic behind this statement. Last I checked, All Toyota Supras were 100% made and manufactured in Japan.

  • Swapping engines is not a big deal. But, the idea that you totally missed was to obtain massive amounts of torque through a big cubic inch engine.

  • Pontiac is my choice for a car, love those 455's nothing wrong with some change though, except in office, lol

  • Whats wrong with a little change, cant us car enthusiasts respect any engine going into any car no matter what make model or year it is? Be considerate and accept the fact someone wanted to be different and unique, quit being ignorant.

  • Why put a Jap motor in a nice American car

What a sin......I had the same Pontiac

    With a 400 in it,and 4 speed.

That Jap motor sounds like it has a buzz muffler on it.Did we Americans not teach Japan anything...put that motor in a Honda...

Get use to it ,that's my opinion A REAL AMERICAN

  • you disgrace the Pontiac and that is my opinion i have a 72 Le Mans i did an engine swap and did it justice now it has a 400 from a 69 GTO

  • NIce. never seen that before.

That engine looks all natural on the lemans. lol, almost like they were made for each other.

  • How can you tease us with this video? No sound of the thing going down the road? This is a cool swap. Come on...

  • I enjoy this video =) it makes me really horny!! T

  • that is not right man not right sickooo u are a total sickooo JK i actually think thats pretty kool

  • That kind of a swap is definately not the first of its kind. Japanese engine in American car. I recall seeing a 60s mustang with an RB engine from a Skyline swapped in it.

  • Disgusting. You may be talking about that revolting thing they did in Tokyo Drift.

  • I take that "Nissan Mustang" everyday before a real mustang

  • Then you have no respect for old classic cars. We only have so many of those original Mustangs, and there is absolutely no reason in the world for people to be taking them and trashing their originality and heritage with those Japanese power plants. Keep em in the Jap cars. We don't want them in our classic American muscle cars. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can compete with the ground shaking and throbbing sound of a old iron Detroit V8.

  • yes thats very true. nothing like the rubmle of a big and lazy V8.

  • Japanese V8s have dominated several racing circuits over the last 30yrs. You'd be ignorant to think the U.S. is the only place to make V8s that are worth a damn. People do random swaps like this because they can. Plain and simple. It's not permanently ruining anything. It can all be put back to stock. Clean the sand out of you vag.

  • Did I say that America was the only place that made good V8's? No, I didn't. We only have a certain number of those classics; they aren't making any more of them. THAT's why I get annoyed when people put those Japanese power plants in them. There are certain things that shouldn't be done, IN MY OPINION. For one, Toyota in NASCAR? I don't like it. But that's my opinion. You tell me to calm down, you need to learn to take an opinion.

  • If you don't want them in your cars, go buy them all.

  • wow.. seriously wasted a nice body on a jap scrap engine.. should of got a 355 or a 454 if you like big blocks.. but keep it american not.. jap and american.. omfg lets run it..

  • Dodge and Daihatsu are the Bests!!

  • Those are almost the two opposite ends of the performance spectrum.

  • Some people are so used to comforming, it's nice to see something unique, not just another 350, they belong on the native reserve

  • O GAWD not another Tokyo Drift Muscle Car Bastard.

  • you just ruined it you dumb fuck

  • Im sorry, but the american GM 350 is probably the best engine ever made on this planet for those who do not know cars please shut the fuck up!!!

  • Oh dear - I know Pontiac and Toyota are making smaller vehicles based on the same thing (Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix), but combine models from either's past?

Then again, a hotted up Toyota motor in a 1988 Pontiac LeMans (I'm referring to the rebadged subcompact econobox Korean Daewoo captive import) might not be a bad thing...

  • rtextreme: the 7m-gte motor you can get for a few hundred. it will be MORE reliable. and more power and less fuel usage then 350 american crap.

  • Your know..!$&@ sorry I just threw up! "abdou" you can kiss my ass! That engine was made in 1972 its no contest in MPG! Then agian why am I talking to a terrorists supporter like yourself! FEveryonesI abdouoriginal videos support his posts! Hears an idea stop being a coward and go fight the free nations, I will give you a ticket to Iraq, COWARD! Canada is a proud nation you sicken it! Long Live Freedom and the people who die for it!

  • what an ignorante message Ramairgto72. So if you claim in 1972 that MPG wasnt an issue then why was the toyota corrolla made and became a best seller in the united states? nothing do with the Arab Oil Embargo?

Face it, a toyota engine is better then any american made engine, fact is fact.

FYI the 7m is based on the 1960s M block

Terrorist supporter? No I dont support you

  • The Arab fuel embargo did not start until 1974, so your comment holds no water. Also, that Pontiac, with the old Pontiac 400, would outrun and fuck over a 7M 6-banger in a heavy car like that. I love the 7MGTE, one of my favs. I'd die to have my '90 Supra back, but I'd have a classic Pontiac over it any day. Without the 7MGTE, because a 6-cyl. turbo motor makes almost no torque, running more off of boost after 3K rpm or so.

  • Whats it matter when you're running nothing under 5000rpm when you're racing?

  • Exactly. With this 327 I have, it breathes very nicely. It is only drag and I have twin quad Demons on top. I really want to get it shipped back West. I need money to get it home :(

  • @420witchdoctor lol look whos calling the kettle black. Ive yet to see a stock gto run around anything but the gas pump, lol. the only gtos taht are capable of doing that are the 05 thru 08 models. wouldnt own any other gto past 67, and i hate the look of those.

  • so instead of spending less money on a faster motor, say a junkyard built 350 4 bolt with a small shot of spray, you spent more money on a slower motor that will be less reliable and more expensive to repair???

    why?

he mustve watched the last The Gay and the Curious movie too many times..

  • well it probably shaved 300 pouds from the front end and got more power han the original... probably better mileage too... I think its at least interesting...I would like to see those numbers

  • thats some fucked up shit right there. why do so many people like to ruin cars

  • Way to ruin two cars at one time. The toyota and the pontiac.

  • I love it, hope to se you on bigmeet if youre going there

  • pontiac ....well if your gonna screw with an american car might as well be a pontiac they suck to begin with

  • this seems fitting. didnt the lemans come 6 cylinder anyways?

  • Yes. It has been a sixbanger before.

  • a stock pontiac 350 from 72 would be capable of much more POWER and TORQUE, theres plenty of little foreign cars to play with leave the oldies alone!!!!!!!!

  • dont you mean Eagle rods and JE Pistons? not the other way around. lol

  • Yupp ;)

  • I think it's cool! Whatever works, man.

  • blasphemy

  • looks like the usual bunch of head-up-ar5e people going on about "put a V8 in it". read up on the 7m GTE guys. when they're standard they bust the odd turbo and headgasket. when they're built well they make huge power and dont break.

  • This is shit !!! Put a Pontiac in your Pontiac !!

  • dude sick car man love the idea. take the dependabitly of a japanese engine and put it in a american car

  • stupid fuckin asshole get that RICE piece of shit motor out of that MUSCLE CAR goddamn piece a shit

  • that is sacralidge keep the rice burners in lawn mowers

  • What is the 1/4 mile time? I see people putting 455 Poncho engines in rice burners but this is a new twist.

  • Hi MarkThompson59,

we'll see next year, what the 1/4 mile time will be. We just finished the engine swap and will work during the winter months on the whole performance question ...

  • huh. somebody must have changed the front clip. lookin foreword to the next vids. ;)

  • BS! Not to sound like an ass but I have several problems with this.

    1) it's a 1970 lemans, not a 72, i have one.

    2) it would have been nice to see an 8 in the car but im not gonna complain since it don't seem much different than the origional 6.

    3) where's the burnout???

  • Hi 1972lemans,

    1. The VIN-Code says it is a 1972. We checked it ;)

    2. Wordup

    3. Wait for the next videos ;)

  • thats freakin awesome man. to hell with what the haters say, the 7m is a great engine and youve got yourself something unique there. great work

  • First I was like WTF, oh NO!!!

But then I realized that the car is acrually a lot faster with the new engine. The old six banger is not quite what you would consider a muscle car engine.

And I also like the sound.

    Great Idea!

Why not take it a step further and put in a new engine with even higher output, like Porsche Turbo or others.

I would love to see one of those although some "freaks" would go on the warpath...

    GREAT WORK!

  • the old engine would have been a 350 cu in V8

  • awesome frankenstein project. How much boost are you running? What did it do in the 1/4 mile?

  • ... we intend to boost it with 1,8 bar. Right now the car hasn't got a blow-off, which means it might not be a good idea to shift it too fast ...

  • You [CrapinaBass] are a fucking idiot.

To begin, 7MGTE's are not "shitty", you can get a lot of HP/TQ with them.

    Secondly, 7MGTE's are 4 bangers, they're Turbo 6's.

Read up on the topic you're being ignorant about before posting.

  • 6 cyl engine.

  • stupid fuck it's not a 4 cylinder.

  • poor? this beast roxx :D

  • WTF MAN? What a waste poor car!

  • fuck, a supra-engine in an old muscle car....crank!!!and u got a nice homepage.....chromjuwelen

    respect!
