What I do find surprising is that we have all these clear breaches of the law, documented and publicly known, of pretty much everyone major player in the Bush admin. and no one got so much as a slap on the wrist. They're all still doing what they do best: undermining the real government.
The rule of law in the US hasn't been in robust health for decades but I fear it may be on its deathbed.

most neo-cons are products of Leo Strauss' ideology, before that they were ironically communists. The neo-con movement was really born in the 50s and emerged in the 70s and 80s.

not sure about the communists part but agree with you on the rest...but just like the whig party of the 1800's the Republican party is on its way out as well if they refuse to get rid of the neo-cons in their party. Republicans as a whole really aren't a bad party, they do have some good points, they just let the neo-cons ruin them.

the communist thing really applies to Irving Kristol and I think Paul Wolfiwitz (I could be wrong on that one though). Neo-cons have been trying (and suceeding) to take over their party since Nixon. Oddly enough he was their last real moderate president.

Yeah the guy was massively corupt but he did open relations with China, did initiate the Vietnam pullout, Kissinger his Secretary of State did oversee the peace agreement between Isreal and Egypt. COMPARED to todays Republicans he'd be far to the left.

They were the party of lincoln until the Dixiecrats became Republicans. Now the Republicans are the Dixiecrats, who are reactionaries who love to spend vast sums of money on pork.

Yes, lincoln as a republican but would be a democrat today. The south was nominally democrat in lincoln's time and is republican today

The Republicans never had the ideologies of the Democrats. They always favored big business and small government, with the exception of T. Roosevelt, who had to leave the party. The Southern Democrats, who were called the Dixiecrats, bolted the Dem party over Civil Rights and took over the Republican Party,

SUBPOENA KARL ROVE!
Karl Rove needs to be held accountable for all of scars he contributed to society. He's one of the few first and forceful republicans that made it "o.k." to be evil. He erases the line and adds distractions in it's place.
He should be in jail already for many things. The U.S. attorney firings are just one. And where's the rest of the million or so emails missing from the Bush White House while Rove was there?

I am sad to say that the more time goes by, the less the administration seems to have the balls or the will to pursue criminality from the previous admin. Obama maintains the war, continues to shred the constitution, says "let us look forward" while crimes are always committed in the present or the past (can't prosecute the future!!). Because of this, I do not have much expectation unless an independent prosecutor is created for some of these issues. I mean INDEPENDENT!
