I just love this old bikes- like mountaintrasher500 says: It would be great to hear that twin in AUSTRIA....no sale in Austria :( but curves to die for :D
Triumph Thruxtons and Bonnevilles are starting to look dated and boring, what a lot of people want to see is a new air-cooled Triumph 3-cylinder bike, like a new updated Triumph Hurricane. That would be a serious competitor for the new Norton Commando, as it is, the Thruxton doesn't have the power or torque to compete.
the commando is definetly more attractive, but every video and review of it they rider seems disappointed, the triumph always seems like the better performer. a custom paint job on a thruxton and remove the back guard and you have just a beautiful bike as the norton but only with better perfomance. I mean look at the video, the norton rider seems unconfortable on the turns. i was so excited for this bike but definetly will never buy it. Im sure they will inprove in no time though
I still have a 75 Commando, with Dunstall pipes. The Harley guys get really annoyed when they hear it, when we happened to be stopped at a red light or when I pass them. I can't hear the Harley's i pass when I am riding my Norton.
Love the Commando, had two of the originals but the price is way over the top. My Bonneville is a Black with Gately carb conversion and British Custom cones. It moves!
Norton's are beautiful bikes but far too expensive. During a recession that is a recipw for disaster. Anyone want to bet they will go the way of all the British car manufacturers who were out of touch with the real world and thus folded? Silly, in my opinion...
@tmtm325 generally, no. if you HAVE to have it, just be careful. whatever you ride will always be somewhat dangerous. smaller and lighter bikes will help you get accustomed to operating on two wheels as they are easier to manipulate and more forgiving if you 'accidentally' twist the throttle too far/fast, mash the brakes, drop the clutch, stall out, etc. it's a lot to think about the first few times on in traffic. either way, wear your gear, and ride safe, dude.
@tmtm325 The Thruxton was my first bike. I would agree with HeyLook for the most part it saying that you should get accustomed to riding two wheels first with "easier" bikes, but on the other hand, it certainly isn't a bike thats going to "unforgiving." Overall, after time on the bike, I love it and highly recommend it for novice riders.
Have to say that the Norton looks amazing in the flesh...you can feel the quality and they do feel kinda like exotics. Saying that...they do also feel slightly overpriced. But then again if Norton have developed an engine and used quality materials, I say it's worth it. If instead Norton have used off the shelf products and someone elses engine...then that's not so good. I will have to delve in further.
@proverbialjesus Norton developed the engine with a local British firm, so the engine (at least) is British... not so sure about the Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, though... :o)
I think Norton is in a higher level comparing to Triumph. The difference is huge and makes this comparison unfair. The only advantage of Triumph is price.
What I really want to see is how Bonneville will compare with new Kawa W800, that will be a tight fight!
Nerdfight alert. Those corners looked sketchy yyyyyy. GreaT fun to watch. I wish they had opened up the pipes. The sewing machine-like whine is very unappealing. All in all. Still motorcyles. And that keeps it A+ FUN.
I'm guessing you guys haven't looked at the calendar lately. Its winter time. Like he said in the video, it was minus seven. Its kind of hard to make MOTORCYCLE videos when there is snow on the ground and your balls are freezing to the tank don't you think? Stop damn complaining and wait till spring.

I don't think it's a good ideea for a Cafe Racer to have double discs and inverted forks. It looks to modern , and is not a real speed demon.

Fantastic news that the Norton Commando is back. Sounds like it has a 270 degree crank, not traditional but smoother than a 360 and sounds good.
The Thruxton is fantastic, great value for money

Hard-hitting review there. "The weather sucks, and the Norton is fun to look at." Very good, thanks. Now I am an informed buyer, lol.

horrible comparison, the norton is more than twice the price of the thruxton

I would love to have a norton over here on the otherside of the pond. It would be great to hear that twin in a sea of Harley's.
