It was Michael Hutchence of INXS claims of having been in a Peter Paul and Mary cover band as a child which inspired part of the lyrics. 180 degrees was a reference to lyrics I made up for INXS Mediate "at 98 we all rotate". Twister on the floor was a reference to a night Nirvana played twister with Smashing Pumpkins (video is available on Youtube)
