I wish I could put my Crazy Pilot vid on here.hahaha it would get you fired man and I think you know how to kill me undetected. I like that you can scare me not many can!!! Wrote this for Helifor hammerhead crazy guy...
How does SMS have anything to do with this. If you are aproved in your OC for hover exit. You can do this as much as you want. Paper work is not going to make Things any different. Training and experience is what matters.
Why is everyone saying the helicopter pilot who was doing a good job? You dont get a helicopter PPL if you cant hold a helicopter in a steady hover. Even though that was only a Bell-206 the downwash is immense, and being in and enclosed area makes it worse. So its the guy walking along the log is the person who should be getting the credit in that video, not the pilot. Any helo pilot can hold or at least should be able to hold a helicopter steady like that!
@RedDevilPilot You are so right. It took me quite a bit of glass time to be able to hold a skid just perfect for in-flight entry. And watching the rotor of my flight recordings still don't look as good as his!
I swear that was T.C. from Magnum P.I. as the pilot... great job in such an extreme situation! Still good piloting, not too amazing for people of this caliber.
Funny thing is the pilot was displaying what all helicopter pilots are trained to do. The scary part is I would not want to be the guy walking out to board the helicopter. If a gust of wind picked up and the pilot happened to be below average, bad things.
Tool. Two hours to perfect a hover? Wow, pretty impressive. How long did it take you to learn part 135 operations, or normal approaches, or ditching procedures, or turbine transition, or hot loading over water in a remote area? Or any of the million other aspects of real life flying? ...I hope memories of that intro flight last a life time!
If you noticed, the man climbing in the helicopter did it slowly. One must get slowly on an hoovering helicopter, no jumping in (or out). So this gives time to the pilot to compensate for the additional weight on one side of the helicopter and to stay sable.
The person that commented on the camera man staying behind is an Idiot. The camera man flew out the next trip. When you have to pull a manouver like this one you just take one person at a time and the comment about the guy getting his head cut off is stupid as well. The people that work around the helicopters fly in them every day into tight spots. They know where the blades are. This is regular work on the coast of BC. This kind of thing happens every day with Zero accidents.
Good skills...got the job done. Couldn't they find a better pick up LZ? Minimize the risk? that seemed pretty tight but at least he didn't have to do a maximum performance take off to get back out too. I like confined landings(for the challenge) but always expecting the worse.."engine failure!"
over all thats stupid thing to do, so much wrong things can go wrong, i could understand if there was an emergency but even the guy taping is at eye level with the blades, crazy
So much wrong things can go wrong with your english buddy. I guess if staying overnight in Grizzly country with no food, water, or shelter isn't an emergency, then yeah, your broken english might be correct.

"...then yeah, your broken English might be correct."
It wasn't an emergency extraction though.
Why would they leave one man with camera but without food, water or shelter behind if it were? On top what he said is absolutely correct. The blades could've beheaded the passenger for example.
some many things can go wrong when u parallel park your car at walmart, but you still do it anyways. the pilots that do these things have skill, dont worry dude.

Two hours to learn to hover? I hover soloed in 7 hours and had a friend do it in three.

what were you doing flying solo after 7 hours?
thats either the most expensive insurance policy ever or your instructor was retarded.

Dear All,
I have some question on psychology:
Why do we love flying? What is so attractive to be a pilot? Why do we think that pilot is a highly professional job?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm.

How much would the pilot have to compensate for the change in weight?
Does it make a large diffrence with an added person?
twcpilot 2 years ago
one turn is trying to pull 3000lbs
HONDA35X 2 years ago
worker's actually will do practice's getting on and off helicopters with out landing. The piliot is very aware when he steps on.
Hermansen888 2 years ago
not a whole lot.. the pilot probably only knew someone was on because of weight on 1 side, otherwise that is nothing
