I seem to remember, when I saw this, Ertha Kitt was sick, so we saw this actress. But hey, I liked her. I saw the new tour just the other day. That witch had no clue what she was doing.
Do you know where I can get the full production?? This is a GREAT cast, thanks for posting this!! And I know it was at Madison Square Garden (as in this footage) but I never knew it went any where else Where else did it go, do you know??
Those bitches!!! They locked the poor puppy in a basket I'd like to lock who ever came up with that idea in the basket!!! If it was stuffed animal I never even posted this!!;)
@danaaa130 do you mean the people too? no it's just the lighting they used. if you dont mean the cast, then yes the backdrops and props were painted black and white.
My high school is doing this for their Spring Musical and I laughed so hard at the Witch's ad-lib when the Ruby Slippers disappear: "Are they in here? Have you seen the Ruby Slippers?", that I convinced Mrs. DeMeester, the director, to use that in the show! Only this time, it would be funnier if the Witch would go into the house looking through the closet and the bedsheets and she'd shake one of the Munchkins while she said, "Have you seen the Ruby Slippers?!"
holy crud!! my cousin was in wizard of oz a few times and when she was in it in los angeles she wore the same exact costume as this girl and the other costumes for the other characters were the same too!!
O i cant believe Mickey Rooney was still alive then wow he changed a alot he used to be a little cute but Judy Garland and him made a good couple too bad she died then.
This was taped professionally and sent out to news programs, etc. to promote the show in cities that it was coming to. A program would take a few small clips and create their own little TV spots, trailers, etc.
I saw this in MSG in '99! It was amazing!! :)

How did they get the dog to stay?
EllisCunAndEllieAdd 2 years ago
He was professionally trained. He followed subtle cues given by Dorothy and sometimes his trainer from offstage.

Like? Im very curious. ( If you know )

@EllisCunAndEllieAdd
We had 3 dogs.
1 did tricks
1 didn't move
1 was light to carry.
They were the best trained doggies!

Yes, I do believe he was in that. Of course, he is better known for the "Andy Hardy" film series of the 1930s & '40s.
