Why wont some of you allow a band to do a cover song their own way? These guys are mad talented all the way around. The singer is fantastic, singing it his own way. There is only one Rob Halford, so why even try to immitate him? Dont believe me then try to find a good Halford impersonator on Youtube, they dont exist IMO. The guy sang his ass off and the band played their ass off. Give em ALOT of respect. The guitar solos were WAY cleaner than the originals.
The reason this sounds weaker than the original is that the gain on the guitar distortion is not thick enough, the guitar mids need to be scooped out, and the vocalist doesn't have the raspy edge like Halford. This version sounds too "refined". With that said, the guitar solos in this version are technically superior to the original, so kudos to the guitarists. Besides that, I prefer the original.
As an aside, the guitars and bass guitar blend -really- well. More bands should up the volume on the bass guitar like this song, it's got such a solid crunch to it.
I prefer this version over the original. The mixing is almost completely flawless for me. This would be incredible if it had a more aggressive vocalist laying down the vocals for this song but it works well enough, and I like the reverb or whatever better than the growling. The only complaint I have is that the mixing on the cymbals sound really weak and quiet and consequently takes some of the 'oomph' away from the song.
I've never been much of a Judas Priest/Halford guy though so whatever.
listen to the live version by halford from live insurrection. it ANNIHILATES this. i mean i kinda like dissidence from their other album, and this isnt bad per se, but compared to the live insurrection version, it ain't SHIT.
decent cover but the chorus sounds like SHIT. it couldve used the growl underneath, but what the fuck is that harmonizing/reverb effect or whatever? it totally engayfies it.
Fuck ya F5 featuring 2 former members of Megadeth my favorite song by them look forward seein em one day really wanna meet Junior and Jimmy to like i've met last couple Megadeth line ups, METAL NEVER DIES
Fuckin rights F5 Jimmy is just amazing drummer wish he and Junior both stayed in deth but thing is they cant come to agreements with Dave Mustaine but o well at least they have F5 now as there life after deth career tehy fuckin rock luv F5
@sdaemos I agree with you. It seems to be largely an issue of production. The overall sound is... mild mannered. Totally lacking in the visceral rage of the original but it seems to have nothing to do with the playing or singing. I'm glad I heard this recording so I can be reminded the importance of a good producer.
Sounds good to me!

@morganix007 The vocalist is fine. He may not be Halford but he's got a great straightforward metal voice.
