  • This song nearly killed me, while I´m riding a bycicle having head phones on and listened to this music in a little town in West Germany ;-)

  • My brother turned 12 yrs old in 1982, and I remeber him teling ma that all he wanted for his birthday was this album. I laughed at him made him feel low, my brother is no longer here, I wish I could take some things back; this is one of many. Kevin fly high and far!

  • @7172971729 wow, what a generous comment -- your grandparents should be very proud!!

  • @gerjac42 Unfortunately we all do and say things that we ultimately regret. I've done my share too. I lost my only brother in October of last year and miss him so much! Listening to these songs from our youth brings back those wonderful years once again. God bless!

  • best vocalist!

  • tiger woods

  • anyone hear of Radar Love? Oooo baby! That the one I have to be careful of listening to going down the road. Just can't help myself.

  • @mom6446 golden earring baby

  • Driving down the Trace at 2am moonlight 80 mph no headlights.... almost hit that owl!! this song over and over not a care

  • One of the best driving songs if you ask me...

  • 1980 was such a great year for music as evident by this song. I was only 8, but remember this being played on the radio all the time. However, the true highlight 1980 for me will always be going to see 'Empire Strikes Back'.

  • anybody else hear michael mcdonald?

  • @tlynch1218 yeah hes on backing vocals for this song lol XD

  • damn this song brings back some memories of when i was dealin and all that went with it, good and bad....no regrets!

  • This is what jesus listens to when hes on the highway

  • Funkwerbung indeed!!!!

  • I am not easily impressed, and this has been my favorite song since I first heard it in May of 1980. It made such an impact, I know the SPOT I was standing the first time I heard it. I was visiting my cousin, and we were about to head to the Gulf Coast for vacation.

We walked to his friend's house down the road, and his friend was doing something to his old pickup, with the radio playing very loud and this song came on. Been in love since.

If a song could be a soul-mate, this one is mine.

  • I ride lie the wind also!

  • On this date in 1980 {Feb. 16th} "Ride Like The Wind" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually peaked at No. 2 (for 4 weeks} and spent 21 weeks in the Top 100

    Ranked 17th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1980 chart

Was te first track released from the album titled "Christopher Cross"; the album won the 1981 Grammy for "Album of the Year"

Michael McDonald sang back-up on "Ride Like The Wind"...

Mr. Cross' next release following this record would be his first No. 1, "Sailing"...

  • I need this song when things are tough and I am down about something..; Or if I need courage for something that I am scared of doing. Or as a celebration for doing what I needed to when I was scared..... GO CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @avigliot I know exactly what you mean! Whatever soothes a soul, this song has.

  • just one Great song!

  • Christopher Cross always had a wonderful way to correlate the things in life with the elements of the earth. Such as Ride Like The Wind; Sailing and the such. I love his music because he equates life experiences with the creation of the world.

  • Reminds me of Dickey Roberts.

  • This song almost got me killed. i had a mercedes and I would turn this song up super loud and drive like an idiot through the small streets of these West Germany towns. Thirty years ago, but I made it to tell the tale...

  • @kenjohnsonmusic : good thing you didnt play "high way song" by Blackfoot !

  • @kenjohnsonmusic IT'S THE KIND OF SONG WHERE YOU MUST TURN UP THE VOLUME! I DO IT ALL THE TIME! IT MAKES ME FEEL FREE!!!

  • @sunny27cb Have ya lost any hearin' from doin' that sorta thing?

  • After this song, Chris never put out a song that rocks this hard.

  • I meant to say; With the way things are around the world we may one DAY have to ride like the wind.

  • We would all like to "ride like the wind" once in our lives. It's bred into our genes. Flight or fight reflex still not bred out of us. This song really expresses what it must first feel like to be on the run with eluding them that chase you.

With the way things are around the world we may one have to ride like the wind.

Thanks Benzilla for providing the song!

  • There will never be rock and roll like this ever again.....Peace to the people ';'

  • seriously, this song sounds like a song that could be the intro from GTA: Vice City 2 is it would exist..

  • IT'S ONLY ONE BABY.

  • michael mcdonald on backups????????

  • @meltone942 I think so. I wouldn't be surprised, because he backs everyone up!

  • @meltone942 Yes, it is.

  • Finally made it to Mexico. Join me, the drinks are on me, with my good friends - Sam Peckinpah, John Marston and John Huston.

  • @bodhidhamma7 dude... do it up brotha, smoke a fat joint for me my friend when the night is ending...which will prob be in the early am!

  • What's this song about?? anyone know the history of it? Nice tune.

  • THUMBS UP!!! thumbs up if your gonna ride like the wind!!!

  • thought it was the original vid which i saw in about 1983. bit disappointed but never in Christopher Cross. an unknown amercian legend. he also sang the theme song to the film 'Arthur' with Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli..brilliant film. not sure where he is nowadays :(

  • it was summer 89...heard this during the best day of my life...still my fave tune after all these years...now wheres that whistle

  • Great song man! One of my favorites! Hey . . . is that Micheal McDonald? HEY! It IS!!!

  • @Dlaemmerhirt999 Yes,that's Michael McDonald

  • INVASION AMERICA

  • Did the 56 shitheads who dislided this song come to this webstie not knowing that this song was going to be played? Go somewhere else to get your music jollies. I am sure that that pussy Justin Bieber and his plastic girlfriend Selena Gomez have shitty music of their own you can listen to. If you don't like real music like this-stay the fuck away. Oh, yeah, Selena, there was only one real Selena and she had talent, beauty, and class. You are never going to be that Selena's equal.

  • i first heard this song when i was in Wollongong, australia....such a nice song.

  • Why do people always sing about being outlaws with Ramblin, gamblin daddies?

  • Best fucking song ever!

  • Yes, you are correct. I cannot think of even ONE singer who has a voice like Michael McDonald.

He is a great singer. I wonder why I didn't pick up his back-up voice years ago. Shame on me!!!

  • Gang, could ya PLEASE comment, WITHOUT cussin'? Little kids imitate what they read!

  • @DaveWollenberg I heard that...!

  • @incdogrobber Do ya agree that folks shouldn't cuss, while commentin' on Youtube vids?

  • @DaveWollenberg there's a proper time & place for everything but I don't feel that anythin' that can be broadcast such as social networkin' amateur radio, etc are appropriate venues to vent. I feel that if a person has nothin' positive to say at one vid, then move onto where they can find somethin' positive to say. I don't care much 4 most music nowadays but I don't like seein' music f/ my time period used as a venue 2 attack Justin Bieber or anyone else. keep it positive, I say.

  • 56 folks aren't ridin' like the wind.

  • @DaveWollenberg ...and those 56 are idiots!

  • @norvellscott Amen, right? Have a blessed week, Norvell!

  • They just dont write like this anymore........its just to bad!

  • 54 people couldn't ride like the wind.

  • 54 people did`nt make it to the border of Mexico. Thumbs up!

  • Great Memories. THANK YOU

  • i miss songs that tell stories

  • is the plot is about a drug dealer running away across the border?

  • Ahh. Brings me back to '81 listening to my older bro's 33 on his stereo system in his room. I was only 7 at that time but this kinda stuff has stayed with me. Great and simple times back then!!

  • I used to think this was Hall and Oates.

  • This song reminds me of crusing up to Santa Cruz, coming down the Grapevine Grade at about 80 mph on a sunny winter day about a year and feeling so alive.

  • This song just takes me back to when I was young

  • Dickie Roberts

  • thanks for the memories , just great music x
