  • In the video: "Are you worried about something?"

    I am now! ;P :D

  • isnt emdr teaching you to replace the memory w/ the action -- so that the memory then becomes the action? and the action is harmless -- couldnt i just knit my issues away?

  • i think this is telling me to buy a big mac

  • thank u, it helped

  • This is a soviet mind control video!

  • These exercises are based on Yoga, to shift attention from right to left hemisphere of the brain. By doing this it helps release the fixed attention on the trauma, which becomes repetative in the mind due to resistance, see What the Bleep do we Know for a more in depth view of the Nuerophisiology involved, or look up Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor to hear more about right/left brain.

  • @TrevorsLee thanks

  • Reminds me of the buzzers that were put in my ears when I was a kid

  • Swingbata-

With EMDR you don't have to necisarily have visual memories of the accident. If you have emotions and/or body sensations an EMDR therapist will help you to work through that as those are other form of memories that our body stores.

I have recently been trained as an EMDR therapist and have experienced EMDR as a client. It is amazing how it works. It's worth looking into for your accident.

  • @tiffmariek I have been through this and I frankly cannot comprehend that it could help anyone. All it did for me was make me several hundred dollars poorer. It did stop me from visualizing trauma related events, but only while my eyes were moving. For me, it did this by keeping the visual part of my brain too busy (shifting my eye back and forth) to visualize anything.

  • Hope you never have post traumatic stress in your life. I know I did, and I know several other people that have, and EMDR changed their lives. I understand poking fun at something you don't understand seems funny, but that therapy saves lives. I know it did mine.

  • Wow, i feel like Ozzy now. Shaaarrron...

  • This is crazy because I just wondered if there was something already said for changing your thoughts by moving your eyes and if so it should be used for PTSD! and here it is. lol its true I couldnt think of problems or even my BIGGEST FEAR! I love science.

  • this made me want to do my laundry

  • Wow, this solved all my problems and made me laugh at the same time! No better therapy than that, I say.

  • hey I been doing this while tapping eft point and grant conolly in the back ground going through the zpoint process while I use a zpoint keyword . What do you think of that?

  • I do that too, and I've found to be highly effective in reducing feelings of general malaise. Especially if done right after a meal but right before bed.

  • The game has a potential positive effect. We regularly use eye movements as we access different areas of the brain when recalling information. It is generally completely unconscious and unnoticeable. When you follow the dot, the eyes use are moving quickly so the effect is reduced.

  • well, it can work, like a placebo or hypnosis. unfortunately i was afraid that a very creepy picture might pop up any second the entire time. so now, this won't work for me anymore. <,<

  • i dont undestand it XD

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!

    Pretty good thank you

  • This works. I don't know why or how but it does.

    : D

  • As an EMDR clinician, I would like to suggest to anyone watching this video, this has virtually nothing in common with EMDR.

BTW: EMDR is effective for panic in most cases, though other behavioral strategies are important as well.

  • Comment removed

  • YES!

  • panic attacks may be caused by numerous reasons clinicians generally use multiple methods with a client if panic attacks are cause by post traumatic stress EMDR would be helpful in the process i think

  • This actually thought this was helpful... I felt I was getting somewhere... as opposed to other therapies where you pay thousands and end up with nothing... or with a date with the therapist...

I wish it didnt stop so early.

  • Look at DrGravely's other vids and you'll see it's all his sense of humor. He has a very trite, boring, disconnected sense of humor. But he has something to do now, and that is a big improvement over flapping his hands and screaming into the fan. Hey estewartgray, let us know how EMDRIA reacts! And I'm sure THchannel wants to hear from some of the many people who were injured by these vids. Time for a class action! My fave was the psychic surgery, I have to admit.

  • doing this can get traumeted people into a life threatening situation. this is not EMDR!

  • . wow there are still ppl like you

  • Speaking as someone who has undergone EMDR therapy I am highly offended, I...I...hee hee...ha ha...what? Hello? Booop. Beeep.

  • This video is misleading and harmful to those who are not trained in EMDR. Also, you are also endorsing non-EMDRIA approved interventions as EMDR...I encourage you to take down this video. This video is being reported to EMDRIA as a breech of the EMDRIA ethical codes.

  • Typical psych BS. Train your brain. We are all lab rats.

  • that dot would have to move MUCH faster for my problems. lol

  • this is best done with a therapist....

  • I take my last comment back . It was very O.T.T.

    EMDR is mega effective!

  • Dangerous!

I think if anyone knew alot about emdr and trauma that wouldnt post crap like this.

  • fax machine!

  • Anyone try this and have success? The video not EMDR sessions.

  • Funny, I couldn't stop looking at the pimple on this guys forehead and now I have now more conflict with any aspect of reality, and now I've started touching myself in public more.

  • this is the funniest post ever written. ever.

  • Hey I'm favoriting this but if anyone thinks this is all good you might as well be making your own Cherrios or cotterizing your own blood vessels with a red hot jack knife or building a rocket to get to work out of your propane tank from your barbeque. Basically, even the experts will say that emdr can be dangerous. Heal with caution and may your inner light guide you.

  • I used to do this when playing Nintendo.

  • Thanks for posting this! I've been receiving EMDR therapy sessions and it is doing wonders for my PTSD. This will really help me work on other day-to-day depression things.

  • ...could ...hmmm work.
