  • is the love thank you gary numam.

  • Nice song- love the bass in this.

  • so much style, gary. even now. this tune is impeccable .

  • Lynn they're sex people!

  • top bass player, mick karn rip...

  • i like all his stuff generally,i feel he needs to change his musical style again.the heavy guitar is getting played out, maybe more synth again?

  • I forgot, you're not Bono.

  • Bloody hell, it's Soft Cell!!!

Oh no wait, it's Gary Numan.

  • The base player for this album was the late mick Karn , ex member of Japan

  • @crimewave66 Sorry no it was Pino Palladino on fretless bass here not Mick Karn

  • @crimewave66 Pino Palladino...Mick Karn played on Dance, this was from I, Assasin the following album

  • FIRE FIRE! The Fair's on FIRE!! .... Perhaps a metaphor, for .......

  • I am up against it with this James Bond-athon. So if you could limit your afternoon to NOO MORE ZAN TEN MINOOTES!

  • Classic Numan

  • Oh I've hit fast forward....hmmm, it's like a kind of hardcore Benny Hill...

  • Textbook.

  • Knowing you, knowing me.....Ahaaaa!!!

  • Discover this great tune thanks to Alan Partridge !

  • Gary's band always used the sweetest synth patches.

  • Aww Gary looks so pretty at 0:20

  • I'm not gonna lie, Alan Partridge and his air guitar brought me here!

  • Look at those stupid drums!!

  • Numan was spot on!

  • He was and still is awesome!, i used to have the hugest crush on him lol

  • Wonderful!

  • NUMAN NUMAN NUMAN

  • this track features on the new compilation album 'Bustin Out 1982', part of the New Wave to New Beat series - out on Year Zero. Check it out!

  • Wolves at the door, wheres the other pig?

    Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Gary seemed a bit preoccupied with the group Japan at this time in his career. Having read Mick Karns book he was also a bit of a stalker of the band! I'll sit back and wait for the Numanoids to let rip!

  • @bassatnight No ripping. Japan was at the top of their game at this time and the combining of the Karn bass with Numan's unique electronic sound was untouchable. Still sounds unreal in 2010.

  • @Aetius76 japan were splitting up in 1982 when this was new

  • @bassatnight well he did have Karn and Dean on the dance album, I didn't read his book so I don't know the stalker-ish things he did. I do know since Gary said it an interview once he was supposed to work with them?

  • you are a big posh sod, with plums in ya mouth.. and these plums have mutated and have got beaks

  • @jamescooling just throw the monkey into the sea.

  • I love Music For Chameleons (and indeed the whole album and the magnificent b sides), but with a 1 minute instrumental intro even on the single mix its little wonder the single charted so poorly.

Had he chosen Noise Noise instead though ...

  • maybe 1 minute intro is not best for commercial success but I wouldnt wish it any other way, that is such a cool intro.

  • This song was a good one but I think he should have given more promotion to We take Mystery rather than making a totp appearance for this one.

It may not have been his choice.

  • A cool fusion of synths and fretless bass funky jazz. Great stuff!

  • When all is said and done kids will still be playing this record long after you and me are gone. Numan is one of the pantheons of British music from the late 70s to 80s...Gerry...TheGmcFilms...

  • Oh come on Alan, what's the matter CONE you take a joke?

    Oh Fuck off

  • Chameleons the camoflage to their surroundings to blend out of sight, but they are there and they are looking waiting still, moving still, and changing continually.

  • Thanks for this very cool video Kammler03

  • This is so 80s, cracking bassline though

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of that Partridge episode, with Alan doing an 'air bass' dance haha

  • i agree. totally unique. nothing like it and never will be. for me Gary will always be the flash of lightning in the darkness!!!

  • gary numan's tunes always sounded so otherworldly to me totally unique takes me right back ace

  • Was this from the Gary Numan show or a TOTP performance?

  • mick karn from Japan on bass

    amazing frettless work

  • Pino Palladino*

  • Karn only played on the previous album...

  • I love Mick Karn's brilliant ork too, but it Pino Palladino on this album.

  • recap: only eccentric people like myself can dig all these type of music

  • cashback!

  • Up the 80's!!!

  • I can't stop watching it.. Numan was so on form..

  • Freaking awesome. I remember it well.

  • Gary's voice is a bit robotic, but he's cool man..

  • only an eccentric guy like myself can dig all these type of music

  • man..that bass line is very catchy, sounds good to the ear! along with the Moog Keyboards.

  • Gary Numan did a good job with this song, I've always loved it!

  • I can't hear this without thinking of Alan Partridge dancing around his caravan!

  • Wolves at the door!!!! You'll huff and you'll puff and...where's the other one, where's the other pig?

    I'm shit-chatting, sorry chit-shatting

  • Mr Partridge? were from the inland revenue... no your not.

yes we are oh, come in

  • this should be releasd now instead of cars and afe for a change wot a track.....

  • this guy is way ahead of his time . brilliant

  • LOOK PINO IS DANCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!g reets

  • Great years!

    Coxynuma.66.

  • Gary had Chris Slade on drums who then became the drummer for AC/DC

  • @Birobob OMG.....Do you mean the one armed guy?? Did he still have his other arm when he was drumming for Gary or what?

  • @Birobob I apologise. I got that Chris guy mixed up with the Def Leppard drummer guy.

  • I used to love pino palladino's playing it used to make me cry!!

  • This brings back so many memories. My friend and I waited for hours in the underground garage at Radio Clyde to meet the man hinself. Not only were we rewarded by meeting him but I even got a kiss from him.......WOW!!!
