Gary seemed a bit preoccupied with the group Japan at this time in his career. Having read Mick Karns book he was also a bit of a stalker of the band! I'll sit back and wait for the Numanoids to let rip!
@bassatnight No ripping. Japan was at the top of their game at this time and the combining of the Karn bass with Numan's unique electronic sound was untouchable. Still sounds unreal in 2010.
@bassatnight well he did have Karn and Dean on the dance album, I didn't read his book so I don't know the stalker-ish things he did. I do know since Gary said it an interview once he was supposed to work with them?
I love Music For Chameleons (and indeed the whole album and the magnificent b sides), but with a 1 minute instrumental intro even on the single mix its little wonder the single charted so poorly.
When all is said and done kids will still be playing this record long after you and me are gone. Numan is one of the pantheons of British music from the late 70s to 80s...Gerry...TheGmcFilms...
Chameleons the camoflage to their surroundings to blend out of sight, but they are there and they are looking waiting still, moving still, and changing continually.
This brings back so many memories. My friend and I waited for hours in the underground garage at Radio Clyde to meet the man hinself. Not only were we rewarded by meeting him but I even got a kiss from him.......WOW!!!
is the love thank you gary numam.

Had he chosen Noise Noise instead though ...

maybe 1 minute intro is not best for commercial success but I wouldnt wish it any other way, that is such a cool intro.

This song was a good one but I think he should have given more promotion to We take Mystery rather than making a totp appearance for this one.
It may not have been his choice.
