  • His voice is orgasmic...

  • still nobody knows what The Secrets is

  • Hey, what's the song at 0:40 ?

  • should show this to "singers" in the charts to show them how to really sing. he puts everyone else to shame

  • @Aimzinian except thom yorke. Thom can hit as high as g#6. I think Matt bellamy would be runner up, then Brandon

  • sound like a poor man's Mike Patton. still good though.

  • @Roddykay well brandons early vocal influence was mike so i wouldnt say poor man more like a protege!

  • this is just fantastic! great video. it just amazes me even more to hear his vocal range is a huge chunk of their songs.

  • he's just...a gifted individual i love him

  • he's like a clarinet :O I must say - really awesome video. Azwethinkweiz makes me giggle, especially that at&t acoustic concert video. "I don't knoww the wordss"

  • What's the song at 2:40?

  • @Wagtang69 "Made for TV Movie" on A Crow Left of the Murder...

  • @Kratiotic obviously you have never seen them live. Brandon is one of the most talented singers in the business. He is incredible. Just listen to the song a crow left of the murder, it speaks for itself. No hard feelings at all.

  • Very good...well put together showcase of the true talent. Much love.

  • What song was it where he hit the c5?

  • @ctnfisher @ctnfisher Do you mean around 3:25? If so, then the song is Quicksand.

  • OMG. His voice...,.... *jizz*

  • That note he hits in Earth to Bella (4:05) is like sex.

  • Isn't it unbelievable that he started out never having vocal training? He's seriously the most naturally talented singer I've ever heard.

  • @gnarlyincubus i read recently that he said he did have lessons but for like a few months cuz then he ran out of money for them lmao

  • i can hit almost all of those :) my voice is nowhere near brandons though he has such a nice sound in the way he sings

  • Oil & Water. 'nuf said.

  • auto tune.. its studio standard to use pitch correction on all vocals.. its been in use since the early 80s.. aint it doesnt sound like t pain unless its all wet signal.. hes got nothing on mike patton fools

  • @kratiotic he doesn't use auto tune go to a concert you'll be impressed it sounds identical to his voice on records he's got some pipes, and mike patton does have great range but i personally don't enjoy his music

  • What song is at 2:35

  • @besitos626 "Made for TV Movie" :)

  • Man the E5 it was done with falcetto not lead voice so it does not counts, if you want good falcettos hear Roger Taylor from Queen.

  • Man, he sure likes hovering around that B4, haha. On "Runaway Train" from his solo album he goes up to a nice, quick C5 during the bridge though. He seems to keep getting better and better every album released!

  • His G4's ALWAYS sound really effortless...it's annoying, that's my trouble note :p

  • @OneVenusMinute me too

  • i read the description before i saw the inclusion of battlestar, and i just thought to myself "isn't that whole track scratching? why is it included" then it literally popped up and all I could think was well played sir.

  • isnt Dig his top ranged song? i mean when he sings the chorus its ridiculous

  • Interesting how older songs seem to fall in the lower range and newer material in the higher range...

  • i guess he can take from low F-G to high A#

    just good baritone

  • @Aquamethods actually that would make him a typical baritone good baritone wold be pushing it to like a high D

  • OMG.. D#4 IS MY FAVORITE SONG <3

  • effortless too, that's what's sickening

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E !<3

  • Hey I found Brandon doing an Ab5 in falsetto on the background vocals of Trouble in 421 on Fungus, pretty cool.

  • Damm How Does He Do All That?!?! I Couldnt Hit Those Notes Even If I Tried.. Worse Cuz Im A Woman.. Even Tho Can I Sing.. There Is No Way To Get A Teacher That Could Teach Me All Those Notes... Jelous!!! }:-P La Diablita

  • What song at 3:54?

Sounds really jazzy. I only have Morning View and Make Yourself so I wouldn't know about other songs :/

  • @mesonox Azwethinkweiz, pretty funny song from their Enjoy Incubus EP

  • @digthewarmth

that song isn't funny...it's epic, and very thought provoking =)

  • @mesonox I had that song in my head today! :D

  • @mesonox Oh you are missing so much, those are both great albums but some of their earlier stuff is even more amazing. It basically it's them playing music to best of their ability. Not relevant at all, but I do have to say I think Katunich was a better player.

  • This video is fab!

  • What song is at 1:44?

  • @magabustaz Talk Shows on Mute

  • What's the song at 2:29 ? B4 ?

  • @whatthefu123 A Crow Left of the Murder

  • What's the song at 1:41 ? F#4 ?

  • @whatthefu123 Pantomime

  • what is the song at 1:24? D#4?

  • @chambers1013 a song called "Glass". It's awesome.

  • what is the song at 3:45?

  • @eclipsedzeppelin Smile Lines

  • sweet video. i've been looking for something like this. such range and power to his voice. pretty dang impressive.

  • Perhaps a new vid containing some stuff from The Wild Trapeze is in order now? Lots of versatile and dynamic vocal work on there aswell as some amazing runs here and there! Anyways great video!

  • @eclecticmuso haha I was thinking the same thing. I am working on a new vid, with a little twist to it. It's not focusing on the runs, however, so maybe you could put that together

  • can some1 make an hour long video of every song that is played in this 1? Brandon boyd/incubus=greatest ever!

  • Whoa... I have a larger range than BRANDON BOYD! amg! Well.. larger but lower with my chest. I can go a few notes higher than Brandon and the same depth, I'm just trying to increase my tonality with my falsetto. God.. Brandon is my Vocal Idol, man. I wanna make music like these guys!

  • @Smexyman444 dont use falsetto to hit high notes use mixed voice and head voice. Head voice can go higher than falsetto and it has a fuller tone

  • @hefra344 not meaning to be rude or anything, but I think it's difficult to get head voice above falsetto, unless ur referring to the whistle register. That or I definitely missed something... I can get my head voice up fairly high but I can always go considerably higher with falsetto. And what's this mixed voice u speak of? Again, not to be rude, just inquiring :)

  • @Sixpog mixed voice is head voice with lots of chest resonance so it sound like high chest voice but it is actually low head voice. Mixed voice range for a baritone is commonly E4-B4, and for a tenor F#4 or G4-D5. Whistle register is what i meant when i said head voice goes higher than falsetto. And im the opposite i can get falsetto high but always go higher in head voice

  • @hefra344 alright, I gotta try out this mixed voice, that or I'm already doing it and didn't know what it was. Thanks for the advice

  • @Sixpog youre welcome

  • @Sixpog try hitting G4-C#5 in chest voice and then youll understand what im saying. btw mixed voice is tricky because u have to improve its tonality so that it sound like chest

  • @Sixpog axl rose sings in mixed voice a lot

  • @Smexyman444 falsetto doesnt count as part of your range anyway

  • Brandon is amazing and his voice is never boring. Now i know why. I love incubus.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • he is so unbelievably talented. It's ridiculous!

  • love his made for tv movie notes.

  • What note does he hit in Black heart inertia's "I want a human Being"??. That "being" is very high at the begining.

  • Comment removed

  • @oscarmvl It's a B4

  • @digthewarmth I have no idea how high was a B4. His voice is amazing, I guess most male singers can't reach that note in a comfortable way.

  • Comment removed

  • Cool Idea!

    great vid..

  • Very cool vid here, liked it... I can't help but envy Mr. Boyd's range and quality, so good

  • Hey he hits a C5 in full voice in his solo song Runaway Train, I think somewhere around 2:14, and in Pendulous Threads during the guitar solo I'm pretty sure there is a B5 in falsetto, but I'm not exactly sure haha. Anyways he's getting pretty close to four octaves if you include falsetto, which I do haha. Anyway keep up the good work!

  • @eclecticmuso why didn't I know about this song?! lol

yea he is, I keep listening to the E5 in earth to bella, and I could've sworn I've heard him go higher, but I can't think of when. oh well :p

  • @digthewarmth shit,i lost the email u sent me,can u send it again,ty kevin.

  • @digthewarmth Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure that Brandon hits a B5 in falsetto in Pendulous Threads, he continues to atound me as a vocalist of amazing tonality and versatility!

  • @eclecticmuso woh, this whole time I've read this as B4, sry. I gave the song a listen and nope, he hits a B4 in falsetto at the highest. unless that's him at about 3:50 of the song lol but I think that's an instrument. The instrument hits a B5

  • digthewarmth - you are my favorite person in the world right now... brandon boyd's beautiful angelic is the amazing quality of his siren. what a tribute. kudos to you for bringing this forward. well done!

  • digthewarmth - you are my favorite person in the world right now... brandon boyd's beautiful angelic is the amazing quality of his siren. what a tribute. kudos to you for bringing this forward. well done! - Kua

  • so what exactly is his octave range? 3? 4?

  • he never uses HEAD VOICE?

  • what exactly is head voice? the whole head voice vs falsetto thing confuses me

message me if you can explain it for me? and also if you have an example of him using it

    :]

  • @digthewarmth head voice and falsetto are exactly the same thing. the part where you have it saying head voice where he's hitting higher almost yelling type notes... those are in his chest voice still. like in the lyric "man this careless thread has gone askew" the part "skew" is falsetto or head voice, the rest is chest. or in the lyric "focus focus" he's belting that out in chest voice.

  • @crafterbustamante thanks for the input crafter!

  • @digthewarmth no problem! i even thought about doing a video response of exactly what i was talking about but that would have been overkill haha. anyway im a huge incubus fan and know all the ins and outs of brandon's vocals and mikey's guitar parts

  • k, so i did more research i.e. watched youtube vids on it, and yea, A#4 to C5 in the vid are totally head voice :)

  • Cool! Thanks man! Keep in touch!

  • @leonloko do you know the name os the sample songs on this video?

  • is brandon a tenor or a baritone?

  • @metallicajunkie555 he's definitly a tenor, i was a first tenor in a choir and i have trouble hitting his notes at times, and first tenors are in the higher vocal range

  • @bodysnatchers324 Brandon is most likely a baritone. Just because your a baritone doesn't mean you can't hit tenor notes. Your range refers to the notes that have the most ease and comfort for you to sing naturally. For years I wanted to consider myself a tenor and did. I can comfortable get to G#4, A4 without going head voice but I need to up the volume to maintain that chest quality. A C5 takes a lot of air, and when Brandon approaches those notes, unless he's in falsetto, he gets loud.

  • @istillion nobody hits anything aboce a G4 in chest unless they are a child a woman or a soprano everybody generally switches to mix at around E4-F#4

  • This is really cool..hearing all these bits of songs makes me want to bust out some cd's haha..I love Incubus..

  • That E2 clip sounds a bit lower. On "always" he slides down to a full D2, and there are two whispery C2s!

  • hmm, I'm not hearing an actual note there. I knew he sang really deep in "Damnation?" so I went straight to it, but a lot of the song is just spoken

but I'm not an expert in voice so maybe notes can be spoken? I'm not sure

  • You could say that E2 clip is more "songspeak" than anything, but it does reach D2 and some whispery C2s.

  • @digthewarmth I really like your video here. You say you are not a voice expert? Are there anyone else's vids you would recommend to learn how to sing properly?

  • Hey firstly awesome video and thanks for making it. I think he also has some pretty high falsetto notes in Leech aswell but I may be wrong. Keep up the good work and man Brandon's voice is amazing its not just his range but he knows how to use his voice perfectly, Iv'e always kinda wondered whether he is a baritone or a tenor though, regardless of which his voice should at least in my opinion be an inspiration to every muso.

  • god, I love leech! lol listening to it now

I agree that the way he plays with his voice is great, it's an amazing instrument!

  • Leech is the best!

  • Really enjoyed listening to the different notes. Thanks for making such a cool video. His voice is truly amazing.

  • Thanks Excited!
