i LOVE those controllers (well i rewire controllers and and desided to make the disc to be on the left like an nes d-pad) but either way there STILL FUN
Intellivision soccer and basketball principles are still used today. Those games were primiray concepts of a modern videogame, but they had Artificial Intelligence. Now he have much more computer graphics processing power to show the details.
@32v2v The reason you couldn't see anything is because of the poor quality of the tape this video was captured from. When actually playing the game and also when the commercial was originally aired it would have been easily viewable.
Intellivision was more technically sophisticated, yes, but people just seemed to have more fun on the Atari VCS (perhaps due in part to the fact that for all its other shortcoming, the 2600 came with actual joysticks, not those damn disc controllers).
It was more fun to play! Intellivision was powerful but slower. That, and Atari had the lion's share of popular arcade titles like Space Invaders, Asteroids (an Atari creation), Defender, Pac Man, etc.
I like Utopia too! Id love to see (and play) a modern remake of it :)
The ending where you see the console and then the cartridge boxes behind it.. LOL I use to set it just like that on the table so it looked like in the commercial.
That was a rather arrogant thing to tell little kids..."If you try them both, I think you'll prefer Intellivsion" Try them both, hey I'm just a little kid, I'll try whichever one I can con my parents into buying, old guy! ;-)
One thing he could've mentioned in terms of hockey, was that Atari didn't even have a hockey game cartridge. Would've proven even more benficial for Plimpton and Intellivision fans.

wow I think people back then were retarded. Honestly I couldn't even see the basketball game they showed because the whole screen was WHITE.

"Intellivision: Intelligent Television"
Anyone else remember that?

My favorite Intellivision game was Utopia.
