the thing is in 2004 they wanted vaulters for the team cause like every 1 was good at bars and beam so thats why some got left out i also think the team would have won gold in 2004 if annia hatch wasnt there and they took someone like alicia sacramone instead
I definitely think USA could have won gold in 2004 if they had taken the team they won with in 2003(with kupets though). They could've had an all world champion bars line up in the team final: Vise, Memmel, and Kupets.
But Memmel and Vise wouldn't have been world champs if Kupets was healthy in 2003. Memmel is 1 of my 3 favs, but Kupets had bars locked if she was healthy...considering, Khorkinas mistake of course.
dang i didnt realize how much the usa missed in athens. the talent was beeper than i expected. ... tasha schweikert... ashley postel chelsie and hollie ALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. GOLD MEDALIST'S, not on teh team.
i don't know about ashley or tasha, but Hollie had a really bad back injury so she was not performing well enough to be a safe bet for the team, and Chellsie was also injured with a bad ankle.
your right though, it is odd that the usa left off quite so many world champions... but who knows if they would have done any better than the team who went?
ashley didnt feel she deserved the invitation to the 2004 olympic trials [nor was in top shape] so thats the reason why she didnt go to olympic trials and gave the spot to katie heenan
No Vise went to trials and honestly looked great, but there was a lot of new talent that had caught Martas eye. It sux that she didnt make it, but who could you honestly see not having made the team in 04??? That was the most talented team USA ever put together...and I'm a 90's gym fan.
@dmann3g ummm courtney mccool because she wasn't used at all? If she hadn't placed second at trials because of carly patterson's fall, hollie or chellsie should've gotten her spot and both would've posted higher on beam than mohini did and on bars than carly did.
