  • @domokenji

I don't think Rob (The Lone Film Maker) has made any promises of deferred payments to anyone. If you listen to what he says he is doing everything himself - even the acting. That's unique, inventive and incredibly brave. If you make the effort to follow the blog you'll see it has immense value and, even if the movie he makes never sees the light of day, I for one am glad he did it and have been more inspired by what he's achieved than by anyone else I've met in the industry.

  • Lol my comment is still top post.

Did he ever finish his film?? Did anyone watch it at all?

  • YOU FAIL!!!!!

2 YEARS LATER AND STILL NOTHING.... AT LEAST EXPLAIN WHY YOUR NOT AROUND ANY LONGER...

  • You said you should do it by all by yourself, then you also said your woman gona film, then you are two ppl making the movie.

  • @LeonMyTube no she was filming him filming the film. she only did the youtube blogs, but they're broken up now anyway so he has to do that too, i hope he still get's it done one day it's been a few years now.

  • sounds fun!

  • i admire your ambition, i admire your hot girlfriend more.

  • pretty girlfriend

  • On your dvd you should put these blogs.

  • very good sir.

  • is best just hiring a unit for about 60 quid aweek then advertise in local paper actors wanted writers etc for movie club or hobbyist group etc accept who turns up and work with them they will be totally crap but you can pull out the potential after about 2 months pull a bullshit story about rent and needing contributions that way those commited will be with you till you die then with a half decent team go onto making something half decent remmeber if it cost £8000 say it was £200,000 :P

  • be cheap but dont play cheap as you need to reward everyone involved

  • Yeah, tell me about it. I just blew 2 years and my life savings making a film and finding an audience is harder than anything! - (cost me a bit more than 10 grand) I did a huge amount of work myself including directing, writing, producing, editing, special FX, storyboarding etc) I've just been accepted in the Cannes festival this year, so fingers crossed it will get that ellusive audience!

Check Vimeo . com and then add this to the web address:

let me know what you think-

  • @noiseache Just watched it man it's awesome :)

  • what's the name of the music track in the background??

  • Comment removed

  • So you're not doing music composition. if i ever get bored enough, i might beat you by doing everything.

  • i find it so funny when you say 'i mite die, i hope not' :)

  • Dont give up rob!!! :D

  • no mean feat this. hats off to you. best of luck, Padraic

  • AY thats whats up, i like this dudes attitude foreal, i wish that i cud jus so sum initiative to just get off my ass an stop wasting talent. hope ur project goes well b.

  • youre going to cut your hair when this movies over again arent you?

  • of course!!! I cant stand how I look - I'm slowly becoming a hedge! :-)

  • ok =]] lol thanks.

  • asae

  • "J4lP"... Don't be bothered by her... She pastes that at every video... Anyway, love what you're doing! Real inspiring=)

  • I really like you guys. Thanks again for doing this project.

  • does that mean you don't have a stunt double?

  • wah? how does it mean he has a stunt double? explain you comment!

  • Put it on to 2 discs. You should totally sell this in stores - they would go like hot cakes. Everyone wants to see a determined, talented (hot) guy making a film. I am so jealous of your girlfriend Gabi!! You and Gabi go together. Good luck in making your film!

  • When you finish the video I know everyone who has watched this series would at worse case scenario be willing to fork up 20 dollars or so for a DVD of it. All I ask is if it does not go main stream, which would be incredible if somehow it did, then if and when you make a DVD of the movie you include a special features part with the blogs all the way through. Thanks for the sincerity of creation you bring to your project...inspiring to all.

  • Thankyou. Yes I will be looking to find a way of getting these blogs out on DVD somehow too. Bit it may be too big to fit onto the same disk But lets cross this bridge when we come to it! :-)

  • Simply amazing.

you are doing the impossible. And making it possible (in theory)

    you rock :P

  • Thankyou. It certainly feels like the impossible to me!! It's so tough. All the best to you

    Rob

  • Why isn't this in your list of videos any more?

  • I can only show 9 on my channel at any one time and so I cannot have all my videos on there. If you click on All Videos you will see it there. Or click on the pre-production playlist.

    :-)

  • Scratch that - I've just checked. It's a youtube bug. If you click on All Videos it isn't there - but if you then click on order by highest rated then it appears! V strange.

  • Does it get lonely when immersed in the maelstrom of filmmaking in a solo capacity?

  • Yes! It does. It's not as much fun as working with others...

  • Yes but do you not enjoy the right to make your own decisions willy-nilly?

  • Dude you are my idle i watch your videos every time they come out. i am writing a script because i have always loved film making and i am filming it by myself. you inspire me alot. keep on doing films you are briliant!

    Dan

  • good luck with your script sir and thankyou! I emailed you in response to your email - but it seems that your account has been closed?

    Best

    Rob

  • You know how to make a compelling video! Can you help me make one myself?

  • well i say good luck. you should talk with robert .R who did the spykids films and sin city. he does a ton of stuff as well but never as far as what your doing. I do a ton of stuff with just me so i understand the challenge. just dont fail or quit because you wont take help if you ever really need it. doing a film 95% all on you own is still amazing and worth doing. good luck

  • love the project idea. love you. Notable endeavor. I think you will find that everybody needs somebody sometimes. lets eat. where's my camera? bringing people in makes it bigger than yourself and therefor great on merit. Let's see how you do and yes please report what you learn. I wish you sucess! Vive life. Vive adverture!

  • Good luck to you!

  • You go boy! Way cool!!!

You got my attention and my support.... :-)

  • the beard will make u bold bro

  • Sivenda!! is beautiful, Sivenda is tranquil Sivenda by Milica is my solace.

  • enjoy wasting 10k and years of your life

  • it's NOT years of his life, he is filming now

  • well hes already been in preproduction for over a year you idiot

  • but its not exactly a waste is it?

  • well it is as this film will be utter shit. if you know anything about film making you will know that the essence of film making is collaboration. People who want to be solo artists are usually pretentious and unable to work in groups. 99.9% of their work is poor

  • antonioalvez is not wrong - that is also my observation of people who want to be solo artists. Bizarely enough, I believed the same - and have, until this project, strived to work collaboratively. The history here is that I am hired extensively by London based production companies to make films who over time increasingly realised that I could fulfill many roles - and so seeing an opportunity to save money, started hiring me to write, direct, produce, film and edit whole productions. (tbc)

  • ...this built up until I was doing this for Sky, Disney, Yahoo!, Mediaedge:CIA, Emap, MTV2etc. And so I thought, why do this for other people when I could take this concept further and do it for myself on a one off personal experiment - and after this I will go back to collaborating 100% - because in all honesty - it is not much fun doing this entirely alone. This is about trying something new as a personal challenge - not a statement of how films should be made.

    I wish you the best

    Rob

  • Thank you for replying to my criticism, unlike all the youtube sheep who dont know anything about production just mark my comment as spam and flame me.

I hope it goes well for you, but honestly I believe that unless you are some kind of artistic genius the film will be mediocre at best or it will never finish production due to the huge strain it will put on you. I'm also sure that you have had help with it somewhere along the line, even if it is very minimal.

    (cont..(

  • If someone gets you a cup of tea you have a runner that needs to be credited.

I would also be concerned with legal liability if anything goes wrong you could even end up in prison, also distribution, if you plan to sell the film you will need somebodies help, or to agree a contract with someone, even if it is not an artistic contribution , it is still a major part of the film making process.

Apologies if any of this has been said before, I didn't read all of the comments :)

  • you're right...

  • @antonioalvez He said he's MAKING the film by himself. He didn't say he's MARKETING the film by himself. There's a big difference. Of course, there will be other people involved in getting the film into theaters. It's impossible to do that without the help of others.

  • you are crazy why do you want to talk about a lbs. of money i dont know why but that is just not the coolest thing ever you now ok so yeah i would never never ever do that .goodgood byebye

  • a bit bigger? id be happy with a pile half tht size:-)

  • i want 10 000 to make my fanfilm. what u rob a bank?

  • hes like jesus if jesus was british

  • although I applaud your efforts, I think this is the reason true film making is suffering,

People think they can just go out and film is ridiculous, you need a team and that team keeps you honest about the film and safe in regards to money and time issues, I think we should not forget all the pioneers that paved the way for us to do what we do here on the tube. I wish you luck but as it stands I dont support your type of film experience.

  • Naw . . . I think it is terrific that he is going for it! He's young and motivated. Why not? As long as he doesn't have offspring somewhere he is not supporting and if the money is a loan----he pays it back, I'm in full support!

  • @domokenji Actually, people CAN just go out and film. Robert Rodriguez did it...the guys who made The Blair Witch did it, and also the people who made Paranormal Activity. If everyone subscribed to your line of thinking, some of the best independent films never would have been made.

  • again,,, Those are 1 in 6 MILLION of a chance.. and NO.. those films were not people just shooting randomly..

Every single one of them had a plan and made efforts to achieve the goals. ON LOW BUDGET yes.. successful.. without a doubt, COMPLETELY hurt the film industry, more than you'll ever know. That's my opinion. I'm ~ ALL ~ for INDIE films.. but GOOD ones that take effort and care to maintain a positive standard..

  • @domokenji He never said he was just "shooting randomly". As far as I know, he's got a plan. Why don't you wait to see the final film, THEN cast judgment on his film?

  • @chadvaliantfilm

In the end the results will be the same. Perhaps the FILM itself will be good or Bad. that will be decided when the time comes. But What I am referring too is his ~process~ of film making IS and HAS hurt the industry. MORE people ~I~ know complain everyday about Films makers like these.. Thinking they can ~deffer ~ payment or ~promise~ points , but in the end. Its all a Lie and the only people who loose are those that believe in folks that make empty promises.. I'm Done.. Later

  • dont be such a sploilsport. now he wont reply coz u stepped in with your nagginess. now we'll never know how. thanks gennaro 1980

  • looks like they say all the best in Belgium too

  • As I see it you don't stand much of a chance if you need your girlfriend to film your vlogs :)

    Good luck!

  • hows he supposed to film himself working? Are you saying he only has a chance if he can operate two cameras at the same time while making a feature film and a vlog? Jeez, you have hiiigh standards.

  • He Said that his girl friend will be filming him make the film so we can see it.....

  • you're not very smart yellow banana are you? examine my comment and see if you can figure out that i knew that already. i was saying to ianbittiner that its impossible to film a film and blog at same time. clearly i know hes not filming the fucking blog!!!

  • Stopusingoil

yer but he isn't filming the blog so what is the point in bringing up something he isn't doing!

and no i will not "stop using oil" i will get a fucking land rover to piss you of!

  • i wish u luck with tht ur gunna need it <.<

  • Good luck!

If you saw "El Mariachi"by Robert Rodrigues, you'll know he made this entire film all on his own!So you should do it too!

    greetings from the Netherlands

  • This is brilliant man....best of luck to you. I'll keep track of your progress. I'd offer my services but I guess that detracts a little from the 'one man' 'one dream' thing!! lol

    Best of luck anyway!!!

  • So the septic tank doesn't think British comedy is funny. He could be right, after all some of the biggests jokers are Americans George Bush,Ronald Regan,Bill(pass me a cigar)Clinton and his wife Hillary,Donald Trump,Richard Milhouse Nixon,Bill Gates and too many more to mention.

Oh and the charmless nerk of a yank who lives in our Street.

  • bt how r u making it on ur own if ur girlfriend is helping u ?

  • you sir, are retarded.

the girlfriend is filming the blog about the production of the film. woot for reading comprehension.

  • incob123

You dont need to call him that, he just didnt read the info in the Channel.

  • Monty Python, Mighty Boosh, Peter Kay, Bill Bailey, Billy Connoly, Spike Milligan, Jack Dee, The Two Ronnies, Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Sacha Baron Cohen, Michell and Webb, need I go on?

  • other thatn monty, the rest is who? who? who? who? who? who? double who? who? who? who? who? who? Oh, I got three! Mr. Bean, Benny Hill, and the Baldy man, ah-ha-ha!!! It only takes a decade or two for British comedy to exist, lol.

  • guess that's why you americans bought the rights to remake The Office. Which is much better with brits in it. Sacha Baron Cohen plays Ali G and Borat. youve heard of those two havent u?

  • wow, one show. I bet it's funnier cuz they're uglier and talk weird, lol. Please post a scene! And wow, one movie. SBC is pretty annoying though. Keep trying.

  • let me guess... american?

  • Since the Internet did not come from the Brits, of course you're not expecting one of your own. And that's pretty stupid to assume America because that comprises a ton of different people.

  • the world wide web was invented by Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee who was english...

  • Invented by just one man? that's hard to believe.

  • Britian are comic legends, Why else do you think america keeps buying the rights to our shows and re-making them jeez!

  • ...britain arent comic legends at all and NO im not american

  • ohh and your funny as? asshole

  • The man can dream can't he?

  • good luck to you lol

  • your girlfriends only with you for the 10 grand!! only joking, im growing my hair too, dont let her make you cut it!!

  • Good luck. A very original idea, hope it all goes to plan!

  • I've already done that along with many other filmmakers. My film is called "Charm City" and you can find it in Block Buster. I had no help writing the screenplay, no help with shooting, editing and graphics and dvd cover design, it was all done on my own. In addition, I had even less money than that. So good luck. I wish you success. As for myself, I'm going back out there again on my next film. The screenplay is awesome "hi-tech" genre. So investors inquire.

  • Where can I review "Charm City" DVD? Website?

Something? I may want to buy a copy, for friends too.

  • lol can i help

  • wow u guys are fags. who cares what you guys wud do wit 10 k, hes makin a flim by himself which is pretty legit and cool. Bet none of u guys wud hav the balls, the skill or the talent to do some shit like this. Plus when he's done makin the film, some big company might even like buy it or something, or put it on a commercial or some shit, resulting him in making mucho money. Good luck bro, hop the film goes well and dont get shot!!

  • 10 k and then you decide to do that....the waste...the waste..

  • lol cool

  • nice work!

    5*

    search: "cliccami mano"

  • wow a film made by one person what happened to films like laurence of arabia and the godfather with thousands of extras on set, so whats so special about you making a film by urself and why is this film gonna be any good

  • They got boring quickly. Lol

  • They got boring quickly. Lol

  • what i would do to have 10 k

  • if hes making a film entirly made by himself... why is his girlfriend filming it? thats 2 people making the film. he must be really dumb cause why would any1 want to watch a £10,000 film with this long haired weirdo in it.

  • 1. he is planning, buying, fixing, editing and acting, don't u seriously think that it is needed a someone to hold the damn camera? he CANT do that himself if it's a feature video, with cameras standin on a tripod the whole movie sucks. Ofcouse I would like to see a succeded, cool, intesting man that shares his very informationabled and intresting project to the puplic? u should thank him!

  • I'm sry I wrote wrong, she does not hold the camrera, only for the video blogs, not the movie!

  • read the fucking description

  • Ambitous, where did you get the 10k?

  • this looks awesome

    lol nice

I love this one and the "EASTER BUNNY is eating my candy" one too - but that one's fucking scary!

  • wow, i predict this will fail, 10,000 quid lost and a 15 second news slot for worst things to do with 10,000 quid

  • He looks like the cavemen from the Geico commercials.

  • good luck dog

  • LOL

  • dude good luck!!! i wanna follow this blog and see how u do! im cheering u on!!!

  • Nice banner, i like it.5*****on it

  • Good luck, mate. I've just subscribed.

  • GOOD LUCK!

  • You crazy fool. Good luck.

  • Good luck !!

    i've subscribed !

  • pure imitation of that dude who died in canada, only his story was worth telling..and a story was worth filming!

  • good luck to you, but you negate your theory of "one" when you have your girlfriend filming you. now it is two. you need to handle the camerawork on your own as well, to claim that everything was done by you. sigh. why can't people do math?

  • Why cant people watch and listen? He clearly states that he will be the camera operator.

  • um, so what's his girlfriend's role?

  • she's documenting the making of the film to put on youtube. pay attention people.

  • ah. it is clear now. she's documenting the making of the film. neither she nor grandma will help in the film itself. thanks for the clarification.

  • whooooa! you're the man.. that is sweet and great mission.. we are all for you back here in the philippines.

    go go go

  • Hmmm. 10,000 pounds. YouTube minimum Ad campaign is $50,000 US, and this is now a promoted video. How does this add up?

  • Because you don't pay to get promoted or featured! You just have to get lucky and for the editors to like your films. Ad campiagns must be something else... :-)

  • lonefilmmaker, I wish you the best with this outstanding idea! I'll be watching your progress as time goes by. Good luck with this monumental project! Don't know if you know this or not, but the late Great Mae West, wrote, produced, starred, directed, edited, and scored most of her movies using many different pseudonyms. I have seen lengthy film clips with just her in them that she shot entirely on her own! Once again, Good luck to you & yours!

  • Dude!

    Great idea!

Can't wait to throw down $10 at the theatre to support your effort and make it a success. Sounds very difficult. Don't give up. Love it.

  • Come here to the US to film it. That money will go further due to the falling dollar, and we can always use the money.

  • Right you are

  • cool idea and I laughed when you said "6 months ago I started growing a beard which my g/f hates even more"

  • Very good, Robert Hindle!

    Keep up your great work....

    -- Bill Morris

  • instant sub. I wish you all the best in this venture and am excited about what you will do.

By the way when I clicked from the uk front page i was directed to a rick astle video.

  • o cool ill upport u by watching all ur videos and hitting ur site

  • o! ciekawostka

    curiosity ...

  • anyone with a beard gets a thumbs up from me

  • it's pretty cool ...

  • I dont know how did u get out of my basement but it wont happen again.

  • hi: Interesting concept.

In your " boys toys " vid you seem to have ended up with a Panasonic Cam? which is MiniDV not HDV? and you also have a very large box! of Tapes lol, and whos carrying all of those?. What Software are u using for Edit both Film/Sound and are you on an Apple Mac of useing a standard Home PC. and being slightly nosey, inquisitive just how much did you end up spending to procure all that gear.

and finaly. best of luck with it.

    regards

    Karl

  • Thanks.

Nope I ended up with a Sony V1E - HDV. No Panasonic for me! Large box of tapes as I'll need them for these blogs too. I'm carrying them. Apple Mac - Final Cut Pro edit software. Final cost is on the blog I thought? I don't remember the full figure right now - but most of it I got on a credit agreement, and paid 10% upfront.

    :-)

    Thanks

    Rob

  • Make sure you watermark any footage you put on Youtube, so nobody will rip off your hard work.

  • it is possible but I would imagine it would be very hard

  • personally i love the beard... but it's a bit of a fetish for me. good luck!

  • erm your not the guy who ended up doing the pain olympics are you by any chance? erm or are you jesus? you kind of look like the guy who used to live under my bed until he stopped moving an started smelling, but thats another story.
